Luvin it – Everything feels good. CVT transmission is the only bummer, lack of pick up, but no harm done. Does what a 4WD does + comfort. Show details
Nissan X Trail. Looks good and drives well – I decided to trade in my 6 cylinder 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV to upgrade to a new car only because my one was getting old. I loved my Mitsubishi and mechanically it was great in all the 8 yrs I had it, so I had planned on replacing it with another SUV and fairly confident it would be a Mitsubishi but only a 4 cylinder this time. suggested looking over an X Trail SUV first as she had seen a few and really liked them. I went for a test drive on one and absolutely loved it. It was a lot smaller than my original car but certainly big enough for me and really roomy in the front and back area compared to a new Mitsubishi SUV that I was keen on buying. I had never purchased a brand new car in my life so was really excited looking for a brand new car. My new car looks good on the outside and not square and boxy like X Trails used to be and drives really well and is an automatic. My SUV is used purely for family transport and used daily
A few negatives I have are : The reversing camera it has, there is no beeping to alert me if I am close to an object, unlike my old car, and I do find the diagram they have on the reversing camera a bit confusing to understand to be honest. Another thing is where the camera is located (under the handle of the boot). It gets dirty very easily with either dust or mud so that’s annoying as u don’t realise until u need to look at it whilst u are reversing. Another negative I find is the central locking. You need to click the lock button (on your door handle) twice to unlock all 4 car doors and sometimes I have problems with mine. I can click twice and sometimes it will open only the driver’s door so I have to keep repeating the actions until it does unlock all 4 doors. Doing it with the key remote seems to work better but I like to just use the door handle lock and use the car as keyless.
Another negative would be the cruise control. The cruise control does not try and stay within the speed limit that has been set when u are travelling down a road and the car gathers speed. My old car would obviously go over the speed control limit I had entered if I was travelling fast down a road but u could see my old car trying to kick back to the limit I had entered. I find the Nissan doesn’t and when I mentioned this on its first service, the service person at Nissan said that is due to the type of engine and any car with that type of engine will have this issue.
Other than these few negatives that I personally have found, I like the car and am liking it more the longer I have had it ( I have only had it for 4 mnths so far). Fuel economy is reasonable and car travels quite smoothly. It has Bluetooth on the radio and i still have a CD player in the radio which surprised me. As an entry vehicle without all the bells and whistles of a much more expensive car, this car is a great car and good value for money. I could of paid a lot more and got all of these other accessories that my top of the range old Mitsubishi but I find I don’t really need them as the Nissan X trail is a great car to drive and I feel safe driving it.
scared to drive – Nissan x trail doing 60 km,s country road - truck comes past and bonnet is ripped back wards over windscreen daughter now scared to drive - Nissan advise it is not a manufacturing issue I see that America has had recalls on bonnet latch issues
Nissan Xtrail 2017 – Recently got a new Nissan Xtrail 2017 model and it’s the bomb! Compared to Nissan Dualis 2014, my new Nissan Xtrail can pick up the speed really quick, so you don’t have to worry about that crazy roundabouts whether you will make it or not before that other car hits you, it feels light to drive and the aircon can make hot car cool down quicker… Read more
than the Dualis.
My previous Dualis and Xtrail both have 7 seats, the only downside is that this Xtrail is smaller and have less space for the extra seats at the back compared to the Dualis. But overall, I am happier with the Xtrail.
