Nokia 1209 (2008)
Verified1 review
I use this sturdy simpleton of a mobile over my smartphone – I trawled through 26/27 pages of Nokia reviews to find this phone but here it is! What a shame they discontinued this beauty. I'd be offended if this didn't fetch a hefty, vintage price on aftermarket websites. It's become almost a running joke among friends, families and colleagues that I'm the only Gen Y person left in Australia who doesn't own a smartphone. The truth is, I own a Galaxy S2, but the reception is horrible, the battery life is too short and I never really have use for mobile internet.
The 1209 offers:
Sturdiness: Dropped this at least a thousand times on hard surfaces, rocks, water, you name it. After I dropped it last year and lost the case, the battery is being contained by sticky tape - and still holding strong!
Reception: Flawless reception in any place where smartphones struggle (in my experience).
Battery life: Once upon a time in its glory days fresh out of the box, it ran on 2 weeks active battery life. Now the battery's a little worn, it lasts a week or so.
Cricket Cup: Who needs Angry Birds when you have 2D pixelated extreme Cricket Cup? HOWZAT! Sturdy, Great reception, Battery life, Uniqueness factor No Internet
