You couldn't ask for more! – The N95 was always designed to be a media phone. It is this one fact that has made me keep my old N95, I have had it for over four years now and still use it as my main mp3 player and 'on the spot' camera. The sound from the speakers is average but is great when played through headphones or aux jack. The camera is well built and takes bright clear… Read more

5mp pictures. Since it isn't using the transmitter the battery life is exceptional, not to say it wasn't great before. It uses the standard 3g network so it even comes in handy for when my defy battery runs out. The processor may be slow but all in all it is one of the best phones I have ever owned. Great mp3/wma player, good camera, exceptional battery life. No longer in production, slow processor means it can slow down and sometimes freeze up (very rare).

Bad – like most other N95 users, I was swayed by the adverts on TV and other media about the N95. Consequently I rushed out and got 4 on my business account. for 2 months all was good, then one night I watched my phone go into a frenzy of switching windows and opening and closing applications all by itself, I could not stop the phone from doing this… Read more

and couldn't use any feature whilst it was doing it, no buttons seemed to do anything to stop what was happening. Turning the phone off with the off button at the top, didn't do anything either (including not switching off!) I had to take the battery out to get the phone to stop.

this progressively got worse and eventually it got so bad I was being cut off from my calls and the phone would jump into media player and start playing back my songs, then it would display "end packet data" and wouldn't allow me to turn it off, stop apps from running etc, back to ripping the battery out again to stop it.

I took it along to 3 - my phone company who played dumb and suggested a firmware upgrade, done that with nokia's firmware updater (part of the Nokia phone suite that came with the software disk) and the phone was updated to the newest and latest firmware without any problems, however the problems still go on.

soon after, 2 of the other n95s i have, started doing the same thing, firmware updates didn't help there either.

the 4th n95 i had bought developed a faulty microphone after 3 weeks, the nokia repair centre fixed the microphone but now the phone freezes intermittently and again, ripping the battery out and putting it back in is the only way to get the phone working again.

so, I have 4 N95s all of which have developed what I deem to be serious faults.

the nokia repair centre have played dumb and say "it must be something we are doing..."

when a phone goes crazy by itself at 2 in the morning, opening up applications and playing its way through the media folder, it can be very frustrating indeed.

so, at time of writing this review, my 4 N95's problems are still unsolved, Nokia service centre claims they are working fine (yeah, for a possessed phone they're working fine) and there are no problems.

in conclusion: The phone was a good attempt by Nokia to squeeze as much technology as possible into a device of this size, however, obviously there are issues here which need addressed. I have discovered many people with similar issues to mine, across the internet, so my phones are not isolated in their faults.

If it works, its a great phone, when it doesn't work, it can be a very frustrating device which is suitable only as an expensive doorstop. Lots of features, unique design. has a mind of its own on occasions, slow.

Slow and cumbersome – I have owned at least 5 Nokia phones and this one is the worst by far. Powering the thing up takes nearly twice as long as most other phones on the market and in spite of it being recommended as a Next G phone for use in rural areas, reception is only slightly better than my old Nokia 6131 on the 3G network. It is also the first Nokia I have… Read more

ever broken a screen on - in spite of receiving no rougher treatment than its predecessors. Best feature is camera picture quality - as you would expect from a 5MP camera with a Zeiss lens - but is still no match for my Sony 3.1MP cybershot. I hope that one day someone will make a mobile actually dedicated to making phone calls, rather than trying to convince everyone that they are proctical to use as a microscopic pc - alternatively, why not offer a mini docking station with enlarged keyboard and screen outputs for those that need them.

GPS is functional by painfully slow and would only be useful in an emergency. Zeiss camera lens, reasonable battery life. Slow, buggy and lacks user-friendliness

Slowish & Camera's not great – All up, it's the best, most feature packed Nokia ever made.  Nonetheless, it's like a movie that's really hyped up - once you see it, it's not as great as you expected it to be.  The fact that it has HSDPA is great, display size & overall size are great (considering the features), but what happens when you're navigating using your new GPS & you… Read more

get a call?  That's not my issue tho.  I see two major downsides to this flagship.  Firstly, the Symbian OS appears slow.  Even on a brand new FOB (fresh out of box) phone it takes about half a second to get into the menu.  Secondly, the 5PM resolution is drawn back by the tiny lens.  I took a photo fully zoomed out of the inside of a store & it looked great on the phone display.  The fully zoomed in was pretty poor, but I thought it might be due to the digital zoom.  Fortunatelly, I bluetoothed it to my Palm Pilot & took it home to have a look on the PC.  To my disapointment, when I zoomed in on the large image, details were very blurry.  Not what you'd expect from a AU$1200 gadget. Overall, the ideas are there, but like the first generation HD televisions, the technology is not quite up to scratch (an hence true HD tv's are being brought out now).  I think I'll wait for the N95 to get replaced with a new and improved model, and in the meantime go for a E65. Slow-ish

A little on the big side

Good – This was my first 3g enabled phone, and it really opened up mobile internet for me. I walk or run daily, and this phone was fine no matter how much sweat, grot or even light rain I exposed it to. The interface was classic nokia, and it made the more advanced features incredibly easy to learn as I went. A really great, solid little phone. I love… Read more

that the memory size allows me to have all my music, photos, even videos all in one device. The camera is fantastic, I never remember to carry a seperate camera so it's been a godsend. The good people at nokia have made it easy to update photos, music, and applications as you can use Nokia's OVI suite, media player, or adobe to link with your computer. Excellent battery life and a sturdy body that lasted me through just over two years of use. It was a little blocky, and did eventually become slightly 'buggy', though nothing that actually made the phone unusable. Applications remained open after use and needed to be opened and closed to reduce battery drain, though again, a minor issue.

Good – I have tried many mobile phone brands and since going back to Nokia will be unlikely to leave. I find Nokias generally easy to navigate, harder wearing and basically less annoying. important for me to get a phone with a good camera and at the time 5mp was as good as you could get. I have taken over 2000 photos on this phone. The features aren't over the top but everything I need - Camera, Ocassionally browse the web and then just the standard features. This has been a solid phone - I usually take good care of my phone for about 12 months and then it ends up being dropped a million times and generally abused. This has taken the knocks and even survived being drenched in water, it did do crazy things for about 5 days but then came good. It seems that it will survive to the end of the contract - alot of my phones have not. Although it is outdated now its still reasonably up to date. A couple of things that annoy me: sometimes it is slow/delayed to execute a command (I guess this is the software). If you are like me you soon run out of memory. This phone has taken a beating and the only thing that seems to be effected is the battery cover/lid it seems to be hard to get and stay on sometimes (usually after I have dropped it). A couple of the settings are in different locations to where Nokia usually puts them... No big deal though. The speaker phone is ok but not brilliant. All in all I like the phone it is so much better than some of the other more expensive phones I have owned - I will be going back to Nokia in March. The Brand - The Camera - Features - Solid Build - Battery Life - Current - Slow/delay - Memory - Battery Lid - Location of Settings - Speaker Phone

Good – I love this phone. It does everything I need it to and more. The camera and MP3 functions are very handy because they mean I don't have to carry a separate camera and music player as well. The calendar/scheduler is very useful. It also has other handy gadgets in it which, although I may not use them often, I know are there if I need them. … Read more

Overall, a very good mobile phone although somewhat outdated now. Very easy to navigate the menus. Great camera and MP3 functions. Good reception on the phone calls. Flimsy battery cover. Sometimes slides open in my pocket. There are things on the main menu screen that I can't seem to get rid of. Alarm clock is hard to find. Battery life is fairly short in comparison to other phones I have used. A bit bulky.

Good – I would recommend this phone if this is all you would pay for a phone, but otherwise I would recommend you invest in another maybe more expensive phone so you know you bought a good quality phone. Bad – Like a supermodel...great looks, nice personality, lots of features deemed desirable, but lacking any real substance, very frail and not as robust as you'd imagine. Do i like the phone? with a phone than a phone with a camera. Web browsing options are pretty nifty adn the GPS is useful. The software for docking with PC, the ability to link up with outlook etc had been really good. The music player plugs in nicely to a set of speakers and provides a good mp3 player option.

Free car mount is good for the phone, my Garmin GPS and or my iPod. Well where do we start....

1. Battery life is diminishing by the day it seems

2. Slider opens in your pocket and buttons get pressed so you start ringing random contacts accidentally from your pocket.

3, LCD screen is prone to damage. One completely blacked out (warranty repair) then.

4. LCD cracked even though it was in a NOKIA N95 factory case....another repair.

5. Destroyed a sim card rendering it dead....another warranty repair.

6. You cannot disable two of the nav buttons,

7. MAny of the menu options and pathways are clunky and dislocated.

8.Despite being reccomended for rural customers, mine still drops out of signal within 10kms of a tower on a regular basis.

9. Leaving the internet connected kills the battery quickly.
