Henry sucks... extremely well! – I've had mine for three years. It is used in convenience store located on a busy road next to a beach - lots of dust from foot traffic, deliveries, and vehicle exhausts, as well as sand, salt and moisture from the beach! This store destroyed a $99 vacuum cleaner in one day yet Henry managed to perform flawlessly for three years. Its suction is… Read more

strong enough to suck fine dust out of a sofa. Bag capacity is big enough that bag replacement happens annually. The bag itself is a very effective filter and the interior of the vacuum cleaner hardly gets any dust at all - see the photo for proof. It is actually quieter than a Dyson V6 or the $99 vacuum mentioned earlier.

A couple of minor negatives prevent it getting a 5 star review - it's top-heavy so it tends to fall over if something "trips" it. Also, my wife complains that its much too heavy, though it's not an issue for me. Its cord could be longer, and of course, it is bulky. Despite these minor issues, I'd say it's the best vacuum cleaner that I've owned.

I have owned a Numatic Junior vacuum cleaner for about maybe 6-7 years now, and I must say I am impressed by the amazing build quality of this machine, it has many battle scars and scuffs from the years but I feel it will never give up! There are a few pros and cons about this machine (very few cons if I am being honest). Pros -The cord length on… Read more ·  1

this vacuum is very handy, and will reach through the whole house without an issue, however this model does not have a cord rewind which is a bit of a pain. -The bag compacity is honestly the best I have ever seen in any vacuum, I had a pack of seven paper bags when I first bought the machine, and maybe a month ago I ran out! That just shows how well the bag compacity is - mind you this is regular household usage and not for commercial cleaning! So it will differ. -The attachments are very useful and I appreciate the adapter that came with the machine, I did replace the bristles on the dusting brush as it was too stiff for more of the delicate cabinets in my home. I would prefer to have a lint-picker on the bottom on the small suction head as it would be more beneficial for stair cleaning - I am astonished by the suction on this machine, it definitely packs a punch, the twin-fan motor absolutely helps extinguishing the dust and dirt. The twin-fanned motor is also very quiet considering the suction it has. -because this is a bagged vacuum, it means that not as much maintenance is required such as washing the filters, only bag replacements are required. - Because of the bigger end of the hose at the machine, this ensures that bigger debris like; tissues, cat/dog fur, sawdust shavings etc. are able to pass through to the bag. - This machine is very simple and easy to repair, the motor is guaranteed to last a long time but if something does happen to the motor, gaining access is very easy, and changing out the motor is simple.

Cons - I will agree the filtration on the vacuum is great, but there is no post-motor filter, this means that the carbon and any other dust that passes through the pre-motor filter gets blown into the air which then makes this bad for allergy sufferers. -The turbo brush has to be bought separately to the vacuum, this means that extra money has to be spent. -there's no release valve for when the vacuum gets clogged or the bag is full, this means that there is a higher chance of the motor overheating and or burning out. - The metal tubing fuses together after a while meaning that I cannot use the tubes to get up in hard to reach places.

I would buy a Numatic vacuum again, however I am saddened by the downfall of the motor quality, as newer models are much louder and have much less suction power, plus the increased price from $250 to $550.

Simple & Reliable – I brought the pet-care model for work purposes based on features and the smiling face. It has some good features such as manual cord rewind 2 turbo nozzles and the standard nozzles which are good quality. With a fresh bag it has pretty good suck for under 700 watts. Has a good length of cord and hose for most needs. Bag are good value and great… Read more ·  1

size.

Main negatives I have with the Numatic machines in general or possibly because this model isn't fully commercial is the cosmetic things haven't lasted well. I've replaced the hose (because the end join split) and turbo nozzle already and the main floor head parking bracket is worn and where it slots in machine is also worn. Also the metal tubes and the floorhead are that hard to separate (requires lots of muscle to do) so when blockages occur it a pain, I try to separate regularly but if I forget it get stuck.

Back to the pros it is very quiet and is good for short pile and commercial grade carpets which I vacuum 5 days a week in my business. It doesn't like our new thick pile carpet though so I would buy if you have thick or soft carpets.

All in all I would recommend Henry if you are after a good solid low maintenance vacuum for business and house use that will last a long time, even if you have to buy new bits occasionally. I would probably recommend other versions to the pet-care if wanting the turbo nozzle and buy a better turbo nozzle as an extra.

Vacuuming is a real chore with Henry...literally!! – The only good thing is the long cord, and really Henry just gets tangled in it and I turn around and he's flipped over...errrrrr! Suction is minimal, extremely minimal, like there's none at all - and it leaves bits behind especially on hard floors due to the HARD bristles on the head that don't allow the bits to get through and be sucked up. I… Read more

have to keep lifting the head up and actually place it on the bits so it can swallow them, it's like I haven't even vacuumed. Clunky machine, gets caught on walls when going through rooms, gets caught on furniture, and the tools on the back fall off. I really regret buying it. Word of mouth reviews were good so I thought I'd give it a try, big mistake! I'm going back to Godfrey's tomorrow to hopefully exchange it for the Miele Cat & Dog vac (which I have, and have used to death but it's really in a bad state now - still vacuums fantastically though). So very, very disappointed with Henry that I had a duty to warn others, and I berate him like a naughty child all the time. If you want a vacuum with good suction then give this brand a miss, what a waste of money! Cost me just under $500 & I bought it in the belief it would make my domestic & commercial cleans easier, but it's a nightmare and it's made them harder, and it's nowhere worth what I paid. I am soooo disappointed :(

bags have been constantly available. I think we paid $400, a lot at the time but hell we have had our money's worth. Sorry no receipt but it was 32 years back OK?

Couldn't be happier with this vacuum. It picks up so much pet hair, and is very quiet for the amount of power and suction it produces. As someone who has always bought kmart or big w vacuums, I was a bit wary if spending over $500 on a vacuum cleaner, but I am so glad I took the risk. Show details

Best Vacuum Ever! – I ran a cleaning company for small establishments, child care centres, restaurants, offices and homes, for 15 years. We used Henrys and found them suitable for all tasks. at the point of purchase, something I would never bother with for other brands . I had about 20 employees, some of whom had never used a vacuum cleaner, but it was easy to show them how to use and maintain their Henry. We did not use bags, but emptied from the barrel, and when one employee did not empty it and subsequently blocked up the whole pipe , we rana wire through the pipe to clear it, and Henry just kept on keeping on! We used this vacuum cleaner on a variety of flooring and found that in child care centres it would suck up all the glitter and tinsel used in craft and a terrible job to clean up. When I sold the business I was unhappy with the performance of domestic vacuum cleaners and bought myself a Henry. Nothing like it for value for money.

A happy face does not equal a happy vacuum cleaner – Henry is the British Leyland of vacuum cleaners. Instead of working out how to improve their product, the research team thought that putting a happy face on an old design would be "near enough"! Loss of suction through poorly attached hoses, a long cord attached to the base that trips the vacuum cleaner over every time you use it and mounting the… Read more

The best money I have ever spent – I love this vacuum it is used on carpet and tiles. The suction is fantastic, I have always used a Dyson bit I won’t look back now that I have a Henry. The suction on tiles to carpet stays the same and doesn’t change. The long cord means I can do my house without changing power points. Henry also has a long handle which means I don’t have to bent over when vacuuming and prevents getting a sore back.  Show details ·  1

Solid performer without the hype – I'd been researching vacuums for a while before buying this and I was torn between dyson and miele but when I saw Harvey Norman had this one on sale it made the decision easy being less than half the price of the others. Eurpoean standards it is still very strong. So strong when vacumming carpet you need to open the valve on the hose or it just sucks so hard it drags. Whilst it is corded the cord is so long it can do my whole flat. Something also satisfying about hand winding it back in at then end. Mainly used in Australia for commercial so its got a really robust feel. Its funny no one in Australia seems to know about them except hotel housmaids.

The bags are available at Godfreys (though the shop assistants never seem to realise they have them) and they last I mean you can go two months without changing one and you can reuse it if you can staple. They say hepa on the bags I don't know how they are rated they could be clearer on that and I can say the exhaust is clean enough for allegry sufferers like me. This was my main worry when I purchased it.

It has a name and a face and is ugly enough to on building site or in the home.

Straight forward just on and off no setting or complicated displays just gives maximum power quietly. They have many attachments but the ones supplied are all you need for home use.

You don't have to put the eyes on but then again you really do.

An excellent choice for commercial and home vacuuming! – Have used this vac on carpet of varying pile, hard floors and tiles with sand, dust, bicarb and kapok (simulates dog hair) and the performance was excellent! Can interchange with different floor tools, such as a gulper or brush… Read more ·  1

head and the performance is just as effective. The machine is very quiet and may be used in an office environment or a retirement facility without the worry of disturbing anyone. Don't confuse the quiet performance with poor suction (which many people do - noise equals power)? How anyone can say it has poor suction staggers me? The wattage of the motor,620 watts, is easy on your power bill too and is easy to use and has a small footprint. Compared to say, a Miele, which uses 2 litre bags at a cost of $24.95 (for 4 bags) and a Henry at 9 litres capacity for $20 for 10 bags works out much easier on the budget! It's a good investment!
