Crucially, the product was still well within its "Best Before" date, indicating a manufacturing or sealing defect, not user error or spoilage. When seeking a refund for this clearly faulty/unsafe item, the company's response focused entirely on blaming external factors (temperature, cross-contamination) and strictly upholding their 5-day return window for faulty perishable goods. While I understand the need for diligence with fresh products, a 5-day limit on a manufacturing defect is unreasonable and, more importantly, appears to attempt to circumvent the consumer's right to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). The ACL guarantees products must be of acceptable quality and free from defects for a reasonable time, regardless of a store's specific policy. Potential buyers should be aware that if a fault (like mould) appears outside of that very tight 5-day window, Nut Grocer Australia may be unresponsive and rely solely on their strict policy, forcing consumers to formally invoke their rights under the ACL.
Have made about twenty purchases of anywhere up to 20kg total weight from Nut Grocer over about five years and keep coming back. Mostly buying from the organic selection - favourites are the coconut milk powder, and Dutch alkalised cocoa powder which is rich, smooth and mild. Almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, grains, oils, everything has been excellent, and the one time I had something to discuss, asking about a packet of almonds that seemed to not be airtight when it arrived, the response was very good, it’s a while back but i seem to remember being offered a partial credit, and the nuts were completely fine, so the invisible puncture really did only happen in transit, they weren’t stale. Missing the organic chocolate buttons lately not in stock, it is generally hard to get bulk organic chocolate at the moment though, so maybe one day it will return. 3 cheers for Nut Grocer. Prices - very big thumbs up.
LSA big disappointment – Recently bought several products. Delivery was fast. Products very good quality, but the LSA, instead of being the ground meal of linseed, sunflower seeds and almonds - the linseeds were whole. If I’d known that beforehand I’d never had bought the 2 x kg packets. Not good for diverticulitis and hurt when stuck under my dentures. The 2 star rating is for the LSA only. All else would get 5 stars.
High quality and quick delivery – First time ordering and happy to report the delivery was very quick and all products of high quality. Will be ordering again.
Gone missing – My order was never received. A blame game between the courier company at the Nut Grocer has left me without the products or a refund for weeks.
Hmmmm – Wanted to place an order and opted for PayPal payment. Had to sign into my PayPal account before any postage costs were advised. Thought it a bit strange but continued. Then got the message that something went wrong and I should try again later. I did. Same result. Decided not to proceed with order. All a bit dodgy.
Perfect experience – Writing this after my second order. Shipping was earlier than expected, safely packed, and everything was accounted for. I hope they keep their prices affordable because it’s now going to be a regular for me. Great store.
Shipping ??? – Ordered 6 kg nuts on the 30th April 2022, still waiting for delivery on the 12th May, called them 2x only to be told next time to use another shipping co? e-mailed the co on the 9th May still waiting for a reply, Will not be ordering again.
Reasonable prices – Their prices are okay but you have to buy a lot to get free shipping. I used to buy dried fruit from another seller from Perth which is a bit far, so I wanted to try another seller. I made a mistake of buying 6kg of dried mango which is too sweet compared to other seller. Dried blueberries are very sweet as well. Perhaps their nuts are good but I did not buy any.
FANTASTIC COMPANY – Exceptional service, Fast delivery, Excellent products, Great prices. We can not more highly recommend this company. They are second to none for nuts, fruits, variety good and amazing service. We deal with them on a regular basis and they are always friendly and helpful.
Great options, great price, speedy delivery – I have twice now ordered from this store. Their response time was super-quick, just a few days from Victoria to South Australia. The nuts were well-packed in vacuum-sealed bags and really delicious! They also lasted well once I'd opened the bag. If you are catering for a crowd, or just love nuts like me, you can't go wrong with Nut Grocer Australia.
