Very solid, heavy brass, better than plastic and should withstand hot Perth sun. The only issue is with the plastic barb which encapsulates the hose end to provide a watertight seal. Or *should* do. firmly. A minor point, but industrial design is supposed to have 'function' as a mantra. Also, the part that gets inserted into the hose has a very thin barb that should be a lot bigger. Very poor design
