Nylex Eclipse

Satin is the word. Italy is where they are made – I have had many hoses over the years; few that have been much good. In winter most won't even wind off the reel they are so stiff. They are Chinese rubbish aren't they? But I took a punt anyway and bought one (Big Brands carry them online). If you are prepared to spend that kind of money you will never buy anything else again. I have had mine now for a few years and apart from looking pretty grubby now, it performs as good as new. Always soft and flexible no matter the weather or season and rarely kinks. It hasn't started to go sticky yet but only time will tell in that regard.

WORSE HOSE EVER – I brought this hose a week ago and it states it has a 4 star kink rating. I laid it out in the sun and the kinks were a shocker. The worse thing is the shop I brought the hose from claims not many customers have issues with this hose. this with sugar soap, - no luck.

The stickyness just seemed to get worse and worse over time.

Today I decided to do a search to see if there was anything on the 'net that could help to remove this stickyness. I came across these reviews and then realised that it was a fault in the hose itself. It had been totally affected by being out in the sun.

As we had bought it some time ago, I did not have the docket. I phoned our local Bunnings and asked what we could do about it or if they could suggest something to remove the stickyness.

I was told that if I could take in proof of purchase they would replace it.

Fortunately we write all our credit card purchases into an exercise book and mark them off when we get the statement, so I was able to locate the entry we made and match it up with the credit card statement.

We took both halves of the hose back to Bunnings - one perfect and the other covered in a sticky substance.

Bunnings very kindly allowed us to replace the hose.

I note now that Nylex Never Kink hose also states that it has "UV protection against damage caused by the Australian sun", so hopefully Nylex have rectified this fault.

I would not have though of doing this before readin the reviews here!

By the way, it did kink!

Fit for purpose – I've owned two Nylex Eclipse hoses, one for approx 5 years both have been fit for purpose, no real kink issues. One is stored on a post exposed to full sun etc, the best that Melbourne offers anyway. I have not had any off the issues as others have had with their purchases.  Show details

nylex eclipse hose – I had an Eclipse hose and it gradually got covered with a brown sticky substance. My wife would not touch it. Just last month I returned a piece of the hose to Nylex under the15 year Guarantee. They sent back a new hose within 2 weeks. They did not ask any questions and I did not have a receipt. Theft – Every hose I have purchased has been the blue non kink version since iit came on the market and I was happy except ...the latest version is rubbish and I would bet it is now made in China. Nylex hose - poor – Just bought a nylex hose and very disappointed with the poor performance. It kinked immediately even though it says on the cover that it's 'easy to roll' and 'anti kink' which is not accurate. Very annoyed I spent my money on this and won't be purchasing any nylex product again.  Show details

Non kink hose is a joke! – I bought this hose as Nylex hoses in the past have been excellent. My experience with this hose has been nothing but disappointing. Within a couple of weeks this hose started to kink to the point it is unusable. Having a large garden I have other hoses years old which have never given me any trouble. No Kink, Hose Sadly Kinks – I wish I had read the reviews first, I bought one from Bunnings about a year ago. Was ok for a couple of months then began to kink in many places, now a brown sticky substance is on some of the outside and is also hard to wash off hands. Keep your receipts as is too late to take mine back. Will not buy another Nylex hose.

Disappointed with Nylex Hose – I bought this hose a couple of years ago and the exact same thing has happened; brown sticky substance on the outside and it is hard to remove from one's hands. I was going to throw it out and just buy another but after reading these reviews I'm going to take it back to Bunnings.

Eclipse hose – My mother is continually purchasing this hose because it goes sticky with a brown substance that can't be cleaned. I decided to telephone the company to complain on her behalf. That said it can happen and just to take it back to Bunnings and they will replace it at no charge. My mother has two old hoses to replace.

Very disappointed - will not buy another Nylex – Less than 2 years old, purchased from Bunnings this hose is on a North facing wall and does get plenty of Queensland sun. The hose has become sticky on the outside, brown type substance. Horrible to touch. Has not been treated roughly and started getting sticky within 12 months. Wondering what I could clean it with.

This hose is rubbish – I bought this hose 3 1/2 years ago. It was fine at first, but it progressively became more and more swollen and soft, till it blew off the fitting and is now more like a 19mm hose rather than a 12mm hose. another no-kink hose I bought so long ago (long before the Nylex purchase). I can't even remember what brand it is, but it's a red one. It's still perfect, as good as new. It was good at first, nicely anti-kink. it lasted 3 years and a bit of its 15 year warranty period.

Best hose I've owned! – This hose is the best hose I have ever owned. It is extremely light and never kinks or tangles. Yet it is surprisingly strong. I bought this hose 8 years ago and it still performs as new. I also bought one for my grandmother who also finds it remarkably easy to manouver around the garden. Light, flexible, never kinks, long lasting - had it for 8years and still as new.
