One star is too many. I bought this hose about 25 years ago because I needed a kink free, high volume, durable hose. It came with a 20 year warranty and a (supposedly) high kink rating. I paid considerably more to meet these specs. From the first, it didn’t live up to expectations. It was too rigid and, when unrolling, it would fold on itself and… Read more

reduce, or stop, water flow. And that was in the summer. In winter it was heaps worse. As I had paid so much, I persevered but should have made a warranty claim then. Now 15 years later, and I am 78, the hose has broken ( not split, or got a leak). I decided that this was time to claim ( yes, after 15 years, but it did say 20 years warranty). The “service “ section at Nylex asked for my proof of purchase. Surprisingly I didn’t have any but sent pics of the break and of the hose itself for identification. I checked on the internet and there was only one similar hose available at the time, but it had a broader green stripe. I told them I was not after any compensation, I just needed a serviceable hose as this one was supposed to be. The reply: “Unfortunately, without any documentation relating to the purchase on the product we are unable to assist with a warranty claim “. There you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth. WARRANTY, what warranty!!! This has been an extremely poor product from the start, certainly not being as described and never meeting any spec, other than it was 18mm x 30m ( and actually, I didn’t check that). My advice is to buy one of the new polymer based hoses. Nylex do make it in 12mm ( not 18mm) but, given my Nylex experience, I would NOT recommend the brand.

Get Nylex FLEXtreme instead – This over-priced 18mm green nylex hose (30m) is awkward to manouver and wont bend easily even after being in the hot sun all day. Nor will it straighten easily without a strenuous fight! I wish i had discovered your "FLEXtreme" ... best hose ever!!! Show details

The 1 star is too much! – Having used many hoses, this one claiming to be good is anything but that. Doesn't keep its shape, that is, being round. It stays flat especially when it's hung up on a wall reel mount, pointless! It really is terrible! A zero outa five is more appropriate!

good utility hose, bought Dec 2016 – I bought a 30 mt length of Nylex 19mm in Dec 2016 and it worked fine, but there are no real corners for it to go around (small acreage). A month earlier I bought a Gardena brand at a higher price with a higher kink rating and it has to go around 90 degree bends, (raised vege gardens) and it yes it kinks, but it is no big hassle. If both last near… Read more

the 20 plus year warranty period, I'll be happy. PS. I might put stormy pipe on the vege bed corners to round them out and see how that goes.) It is now Feb 2021. The heavyweight now has about 6 leaks in it, 2 within 5 metres of where I hold it and I get wet. This area has never been kinked, but it has many cracks in the outer casing. Indeed, the whole length of the hose is the same. It is going in the bin! I was the only user of it, and I take care with my equipment. The other brand has no cracks and no leaks with similar usage.

Just Ok – Spent a little ore than basic hose. For this hose there is no value. It kinks more than my 20 year old hose and buldges randomly around fittings under pressure. Does not seem like a good heavy duty hose. Have owned for five months.

Kink Resistance Rating?? – This hose is highly susceptible to kinking, especially in hot weather. I required a hose that remained flexible in the cooler weather and one that was less prone to kinking but didn't cost the earth. The Kink rating on the packaging (6 for the Nylex heavyweight) hose is not relative to any specific standard so means little. It appears as though… Read more

price is the only real indicator but I'm not sure if that is a guarantee either.

It's very soft in hotter weather and kinks very easily
