On The Move Removals

Lied and Overcharged – I unfortunately can't recommend this company. From the get go, the movers were late. Once they arrived, they spent at least 45 minutes smoking, taking phone calls or sitting and snacking in the truck. This is at 9:30am in the morning. Once the truck was finally packed, they left for the location 25 minutes before we did, as there was someone already there to let them in at the destination point. Somehow, though, we beat them to the house! We waited around for an additional 15 minutes before they finally showed up. When questioned, they just dodged the question.

We ended up helping with the unloading, to try and make it go faster, as the guys were still uninterested and dragging their feet.

As you can imagine, the price came out well over the quote. They make you pay on the spot and take it up with the company afterwards.

I called and emailed the company, explaining what happened and how much time was wasted with no apology or explanation. The owner couldn't care less. He denied any wrong doing by his men and wouldn't even so much as agree to chat to them about their work ethic or offer any apology.

Overall, I very expensive mistake.

From Bad To Worse – When I booked this company, I was assured that my job will be the second off the list, so a time between 12 and 2 pm was confirmed. They also confirmed that they do not use students and overseas workers, but failed to mention sub-contractors. On the day of the removal 2 pm came and I have not heard from these people. I contacted them and was told that they were held up and they will be there by 3 pm. No problem. Again 3 pm came and I still have not heard from them hence another phone call. The same response was given, they are held up and would be there at 5 pm. As I had an appointment, I arranged for them to arrive at 7 pm, guess what, another no show. After much frustration, and with no alternative I agreed to the move at 7 am the next day.

Day of moving was incident free and I must admit they did work hard and did not stop. The problem came when payment was due. The rates that I was quoted was an hourly rate plus half an hour to and from depot, which I was happy with or I would not have booked them. The hourly rate was right, however, they tried to charge me more for the return to depot. When I questioned this, the man in charge started swearing at me stating that this is the rate. He continued to abuse me until I phoned there head office. They confirmed the rate I was quoted. After confirming the rate and price he continued talking to me with colourful language.

I would not recommend using this company whatsoever.

Estimate is bogus – This company provides estimates to move only and then it all changes when they come to do the job, we were stung nearly double the original estimate, how did they get it so wrong? The way they dealt with our concerns when we rang the office was nothing short of condescending arrogance. The guys doing the job were good blokes Deceptive quoting and absolute arrogance

Do your research on internet furniture removal companies – On The Move Removalists do not have a business address on their web site. So far, no invoice/receipt has been received for cash paid. The call-out fee/travel fee of $80 was not mentioned, but is on the job sheet and seen on the truck's arrival, and this is added to the cost of materials and hourly rates. It is not obviously anywhere on their web site. Pleasant boys doing the removal. Not enough disclosure. Be careful about extra costs, and therefore giving your credit card number to the company.
