how to fill onix cooler
my fan is aiming severely to the left which makes positioning tricky
Perhaps you need to return the unit and exchange it.
How do you make the air cool?
There are 3 ways to actually cool the air ( 2 ) of which are... 1: use cold water in the tank provided. ( OR ) 2: fill the tank with 90% ICE and 10% water ( this works well till the ice melts an the water gets warm again. ) - I dont bother with those plastic bricks.
3 ( I'm currently working on a device that will keep the water temp at between 2 and 4 degrees Celsius ) - which means the water NEVER actually gets warm and STAYS ice-cold all the time. it is working well under test - ( so far so good ) ..when it's finished, I'll post it up on you tube. The cost to build might be about $20 AUD in parts. wish me luck! ;) and it's plans will be up-loaded without charge. Electricity costs so MUCH these days, and there are many older people that cant afford air conditioning ( but summer in Australia, you NEED it! ) So this is my way of trying to help.
hey richard p did you ever make that youtube video?
Would anyone be able to share the contact number for spare parts to this product. I have misplaced the rubber plug when emptying the water. Thanks in advance
Wouldn't it be on the website?
my mum has an older Onix evap air cooler, that does'nt take ice there is only and ice brick to put in the back and it really cools everything, can you tell me if you can still buy them and where please? DS
Big w
thank you Brittany, i'll check it out, most of the ones i have googled needs ice and you would have to own an ice factory for those ones lol thanks again DS
I'd just fill the tank with mostly ice an be DONE with it. 2 big bags of ice in a chest freezer will do you most of the day and the night as well.....and no " waiting" for the bricks to freeze. ( either that, or buy 4 sets of bricks and constantly rotate them when the system starts to get warm.
Why does my portable air con smell? I've emptied the water by removing the bottom plug but there is an unpleasant smell coming from it.
OK, that's possibly because you have used it and just refilled the water tank without actually rinsing it with hot water once a week. ALSO ( and MORE likely ) - you will need to take the filter out of the back of it...put it in the bath, and let it soak in hot water along with some disinfectant. wait till the water cools - then hang it out to dry and don't use it until the filter is completely dry. When it is, just put it back in the machine and you will be all good to go again.
