Don't trust them, and terrible customer service
I had the misfortune of getting behind in my payments on my very first Openpay Loan due to a unexpected reduction in my income. Relying just on government welfare I was horrified when Openpay took 4 payments out of my bank account on the same day my income support payment was paid to me. This is not entirely surprising but what is surprising is that the bank account money was taken from was not the authorised bank account they had on my contract that I had previously paid all my existing payments from but it was an entirely different account t...hat I had never set up for Openpay to use. When I rang Openpay to question how did they get this bank account, they said I had updated my bank details on 15)5/20. I have since worked out that it appears I set myself up on Openpay several years ago but never took out a loan until Oct 2020, When I forgot I had already done this and accidentally set up a 2nd Account on their system. These accounts had different email addresses and different bank details and different home addresses as I had moved. But my first loan contract did not commence until 22/10/20? So I am assuming Openpay have merged these accounts together despite quite different details on each.
Cannot access the app and have received no emails
I am concerned that I signed up for Openpay, made a purchase and have not received a single email. I have downloaded the app but cannot access it, can't sign up as it says I already have, can't sign in as I have not set a password yet. I have since spoken to them and they are endeavouring to fix the problem.
not as good as afterpay for me
I buy most of our clothes online using a payment plan, such a great way to spread out those big seasonal outlays when you have a family. My favourite chain for my own clothes uses Openpay and inexplicably, occasionally my purchase goes through, mostly it doesn't. Customer service patchy and I haven't yet, after a year, been able to sort the issue. I stick to shops using Afterpay now if I wish to use a payment plan, never had a problem.
Bad customer service
Terrible customer service my account was locked due to "suspicious activity" and was told to contact support well they aren't really support they are just trained monkeys to say we going to send a email for you to send a photo and then I got a email to say "Our team has reviewed your application and, unfortunately, your plan/application has been declined." why would it be declined maybe because they can't make money from me with me paying on time don't waste your time with them halfwits use Afterpay they are great.
Will never use them again
My payments were due on the 10/2/2021 and open pay tried to take them at 8am that day, the funds were not available which was my fault. I payed 7all payments later that day around 3pm. I wake up this morning and open pay had debited 7x $9.50 from my account even though I paid on the due date. I was late paying by 7hrs but still within the due date. By law you can't charge late fees until the following day and only if payment has not been received. Have always paid a day ahead this the first time that I haven't.
Bad customer service
it seems my facebook post to get a response was removed...AGAIN : Worst company ever to deal with when you’ve been a victim of fraud that’s been proven and trying to get your money back especially when staff don’t remove your credit card details and more money to the tune of $638 comes out leaving you with no money, and your baby’s 1st Birthday. Trying to speak with [name removed] from the Fraud team staff say aren’t able to transfer to email, email with questions get a standard response but my questions STILL not answered, not getting the prom...ised manager call back within 24 hours call to speak with manager by staff who again give you the same spiel, lack any empathy or interest, put you on hold after INSISTING to speak with a manager and after 12 minutes call is hung up on. Not the first time to be hung up in when asking valid questions as it’s all too hard. Lea and Kristine have been great to deal with from a frontline customer service perspective thank you ladies but that’s it. Time to email your CEO AND BOARD DIRECTORS I have already made a formal complaint to ACCC on how this issue has been dealt with. A refresh to all your staff on your Code of Conduct and general complaint handling skills and general empathy is recommended. This is for my son who I have advised suffers from BIPOLAR and is extremely distressed. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT... STILL ongoing with their incompetance... STILL requesting Walter to call me but hides behind an email.
Not that great
It's alright, but the main thing that annoys me is unlike afterpay who doesn't let you purchase anything when your overdue in payments, open pay doesn't let you log on at all, when logging on it says account is locked due to suspicious activity. I emailed them and they tell me this is because I have missed payments and the only way to pay is through bank transfer. Now first of all I understand you should be bared from purchases until the overdue amount is cleared ut what I dont agree with is them blocking my whole account so I can no longer log...on and see what is owing or even pay through the app, I have to contact them myself and get details from them. Such a stuff around, I mean do they want their money or not? I guess the just wanna stuff pejole around so they hopefully can't be bothered to contact then hit them with fees and debit collectors cause of a $30 payment. Such a stuff around, very unprofessional. I'd stick to afterpay and zip pay, no more open pay.
Pay in advance and have no issues
I treat OpenPay as a "pay in advance" credit service. It came in handy over Christmas buying presents for the kids. I'm under no illusions that if I miss a payment that I wouldn't have trouble with these guys (judging from the other reviews), so I make sure that payments are made well ahead of their due date. Hopefully OpenPay will pull their fingers out and try to help more with people who miss payments due to financial difficulties and sort out their payment system - but I've had no issues so far with the way I'm using it. Early days using it yet, so... time will tell.
Terrible - use zip or afterpay
Openpay had a system error recently which resulted in some customers being locked out. I called to have my account, which I haven’t used for over a year, reactivated. As I could not tell them my OLD card number, from a very long time ago, they wouldn’t restore my account despite having previously perfect history with them. I kept saying no one keeps old cards - how am I meant to remember that?! Even more ironically, the reason I had to get new cards was because someone hacked my account in April 2020 which is why my old card was replaced to beg...in with. They wouldn’t budge or find alternate means to identify me or my account. The customer service is beyond terrible. Use zip or afterpay, even Humm is great. Openpay are sub par and beyond terrible.

I’ve been using Openpay for at least a year now. It’s fantastic I’ve never had any trouble with it and it’s so easy.
It’s interest free, easy payment plans , and In 1 year I have had not one thing go wrong really happy. And it’s excepted in so many places now. Better than having a credit card
Perfect for people who...
- love being hung up on (twice...)
- love being talked over while on the phone (deliberately)
- really enjoy paying over $500 up-front for something, because OpenPay's service may not work properly, or may not even be provided to you
- want to wait over a week to be phoned back when you're told it'll be 2-3 days
- can rent a house and own a car, but can't be loaned any money whatsoever, because that makes sense...
Seriously ideal for anyone who matches the above description!! :)
Terrible customer service
My account is put on hold due to financial hardship and I sent through all the documents they requested. Anyway money has come out of my account. I called them today and the person I spoke to was very rude and wouldn’t help me. What is the point of trying to do the right thing when they don’t care about your situation.

Don't use Open Pay, this could happen to you.
I am sure there are many people out there that have had positive experiences with this company, I know that I have, but none of that will matter to you anymore if you suffer the same fate I have.
I must apologise ahead of time for how lengthy this review will be. Please believe me when I say that every word is true, I still have all the emails to prove my story and I will attach a few select exchanges, not all of them because there are far too many. If you are reading this and wish to have access to all of the emails, please contact me at my e...mail [contact details removed] On the 4/10/20 - 9:32pm I created my OpenPay account to buy a laptop from "My IT Hub". I provided everything requested of me for a full I.D. verification, bank, phone, you name it. I was approved and my initial balance offered was $500.00. On the 6/10/20 - I was granted pre-approval for $1,900.00 to spend at "My IT Hub". On the 21/10/20, after much research and assurance from both "OpenPay" and "My IT Hub", that if I correctly placed my order and if my Credit Status was accepted, my order would be processed without delay. Just after 5pm I completed my online order, triple checked it, and along with an initial payment of $412 I officially lodged my order. Following this I received emails from both "My IT Hub" and "OpenPay". From "My IT Hub", there was a tax invoice detailing acceptance of order and deposit, confirmation of stock availability and information about delivery. From "OpenPay" I received a New Plan/Contract that I had already accepted, and this detailed past and future payments, personal details. Following these emails I was satisfied that I should have my new laptop by about the 26-27 of October 2020.
Crazy how they run things!
Ok now Openpay have had no problem in taking money out and 3 late payment fee's and out of 3 products i bought 2 Beats pro wireless earphones and a ps4 within 18mths time frame and almost $2k later you want to suspend my account and not get back to me after ive pointed out that you guys had made a few errors!? Bad customer service followed by terribly run company.
Questions & Answers
How do I remove a card from my account I am trying to make a purchase on a website with open pay but it’s asking me to add a card but when I add my card it says this card is already being used by a customer which is me
Why is my openpay account not showing my credit limit or give me the option to use it in store? Its a bit frustrating as other apps such as afterpay and zip give you a clear credit limit so you're not caught out but take Weekly or fortnightly payments being able to make monthly repayments is a big advantage for me if only I knew new how much I could spend.
