Oppo's the go
Not perfect but great for all it does. Seems like a lot more people have OPPOs now & they are very popular in China, I am told.
I previously had an LG which costs a lot more & the sales person in JB Hi Fi recommended the Oppos when my LG had finally died & I had lost all my contacts. This one cost $279. Has a larger screen and now I have become an avid game player.
The photos look just as good as my previous phone although I did like the fact that with the LG I could just say cheers & it would take the photo. I always need to press the scree...n with the Oppo to take a photo. Only downside for me. It holds the charge really well & although I charge every night it is never low not matter how much I seem to use it. Downloading photos is still a problem because it attaches so many other shots that are not photos I have taken, so I have to just individually select photos to download to my computer which can be a bit painful. It does not work when I select transfer photos as it finds nothing. I have to select transfer files. Luckily I don't take many photos. But with any different phone you have to adapt to what is offered & I am happy overall with the phone. The apps all seem to run pretty well.

Great large screen
Grabbed it on sale for $229 and love the large screen. Says it's dark purple but looks black to me. Has a very good battery life and a decent camera. Has a great screen quality for watching rugby when our fave team is playing. It's not jumpy and seems to run the game very well but will occasionally stop the video when we are watching a full 80 minute game. Quickly reloads though. Can read scores easily. Because it's big it's hard to fit in a standard mobile pocket and I couldn't get a cover locally.
ok but camera is dreadful
The specs on this - ram, battery - matched other phones I've had, and it performs fine. However the camera is the biggest disappointment! Not only can I NOT change resolution - so even the most basic photo is chewing up around 4MB of space - the camera itself performs awfully in most lighting situations. Contrast is excessive, with both darks and lights having no nuance, so it's almost impossible to get any details. For the file size of each photo I would expect to get a lot of detail, but the photos are washed out or too dark. A massive disappointment and Im thinking of selling after only 3 weeks due to this.
Great value phone
Phone has the best battery life I have ever had before only need to charge every 2 days. Really good value for $250 from jb hifi. Only downside is camera can't really focus on moving objects .
Priced well below comparable phones
Very happy with this one, soo cheap at $250 @JB.
Good enough camera, no complaints (coming from samsung galaxy note so spoilt).
Does good fake depth of field shots in Portrait mode.
Facial recognition works great except in the dark (they warn you that this will happen).
Awesome screen does what you want it to do, and gets nicely dimmed for night time dark bedroom viewing without adding f.lux or other apps. Beautiful to operate. Battery life incredible.
Dual sim was the reason I bought this, and this one takes two sims and the micro SD card at the same time. Not penalised for having two lines: I like it!...Only complaint, Oppo does something so it is hard to root. still waiting for positive confirmation that it can be done. Please if anyone knows that it can be done, message me!

Great value for money
My daughter upgraded from Apple to the Oppo A3s and loves it! The face recognition is brilliant. The camera is excellent. A great entry level android mobile that won't break the budget.
Bought this hp from JB Hifi upgrading from my Samsung Galaxy S5. Main reason for upgrade was the fact that the speakers and microphones on the S5 were not good, and excellent on the Oppo A3S. I love the facial recognition as well as the functionality of the phone. Only drawback is the increased weight. Also the battery is excellent and with little use I get easily three days out of one charge. The camera is on par with the Galaxy the pictures are sharp and clear with good colours.
Looks great, feels great on the hand. It comes with a 6.2” screen. The frame itself is rounded so it looks sleek. Added bonus, you can add larger sd card to expand memory. Comes in choice of 2 colours Red & Deep Purple, with a bonus clear case. Added safety features - facial and pin.
Like all phones, you need to play around with them to feel what apps you need. My only down at this moment, cannot change colour of texts. Comes with a light shade of green.
Overall, for the price, it suits me fine. Does what any other smart phone does without the top dollar.
Good value for money.
This is my first attempt into the android ecosystem after years spending 4 times as much money on Apple products. While it's not a stellar phone it does what most people need at a fraction of the cost. If you an Apple convert this OS look a like will make the transition very easy. After all this phone is an iPhone copy in many ways. If you're not heavily invested in the apple ecosystem and can live with a less snappy experience and camera then this is a great at a very attractive price.

Good for a budget phone
First impressions of the opportunity a3s red from opening the box to turning the device on is awesome. I hardly ever notice the notch because it blends in well. The red really stands out and back camera doesn't fill out so it nice and flat, the clear case that comes with it has a nice rigid feel to it but it takes a couple attempts to get phone in and I love that back just has the logo and no other information on it. Ok now the phone when powered on, at first I notice the keyboard has a lag to it but after fully setting things up after a while ...the keyboard response is great now. Settings: Search function is good so it is quick and easy to find a setting, daily data reminder allows the user to customise how much to use and I like the fact there is a option "Do not remind" unlike the other version of Oppo phones it is limited to only 5000MB. The ability to control your personal hotspot it great I like that I deny devices and also control how much data is granted for them to use goes from 10mb to 10gb and unrestricted. I think the "Other Notifications Tones" should be switch to none because the sound is just stupid because it will happen time you get a notification from Google Play store bad other apps. I like the fact that it has "Real original sound technology" because it makes my music sound better. Face & Passcode are awesome because you can customise the passcode from a pattern, 4 digit passcode, 4-16 digit pc and 4-16 alphanumeric pc. The facial recognition is superb and fast I can just have my phone off and just look at without pressing any buttons and it unlocks or I can press the power button and it stills unlocks and the digit passcode comes in handy when in not well lit rooms. I love the app split function because I can be in a apps that supports it like FB and be watching YT at the same time. The colours on the screen are not too bad but I think colours like green in particular are not very rich but I don't mind and I also like the built in edit functions for video and photo. Back camera takes good shots and that dual camera works nice but the burst mode is great for those jumping in the air etc, along with the front camera is great and that ai beauty works nice especially when you have a white t-shirt one and in the sun. App clone is great along with the app management and the "Allow notch area display" turned off brings to focus in so it doesn't get in to way of gaming an other apps. Battery is great from startin the phone battery is default is 50% but seeing the uptime in 1hour the battery is at 48%, overall the phone is great and I would definitely recommend this phone if you are on a budget. Plan ahead for things that might happen screen break but also read the help and safety files first please because it will show you really important information. I still don't even notice the notch.

One of the best sub-$300 phones available in Australia
The Oppo A3s is a JB Hi Fi exclusive and can be found for $279. In many ways it is very similar to the more expensive Oppo AX5, with the main differences being less RAM and storage, as well as slightly cheaper build quality. Despite that, I love this phone! Its screen doesn't have the best resolution (even in this price range) but its big and its the cheapest I've seen with an edge-to-edge display. The 32GB of storage can be expanded with a Micro-SD card, and while 3GB of RAM isn't flagship standard, the phone is surprisingly zippy and can play...all my favourite games. The rear of the phone is made of plastic but if you have use a case (Oppo includes one with every phone) you won't really notice this, and the colours it comes in (dark purple and vibrant red) will certainly make your phone stand out. The camera isn't the best either but I appreciate the inclusion of a dual-lens rear camera, and it's good for a budget phone. It runs Oppo's skinned version of Android (which resembles iOS in many ways, like the lack of app drawer (this phone's one big negative)) To summarise, this phone is by no means the best at anything, and it shouldn't be considering its low price, but its an all-round good phone that is great value for money!
Questions & Answers
Is oppo A3s have NFC capability?
Hi Mike, yes it does, but in’s known as data transfer. It is a lot easier to use as you follow the prompts. Upside is if transferring from android or some other smartphones. My previous phone was a windows phone and couldn’t transfer items over, so I needed to go the long way. Am now able to transfer between daughter and I.
Thanks......but....how do you set it up?
I did a search for data transfer and it came up with nothing??
