Disappointment – I had two previous Oppos. They worked well. I upgraded to Oppo AX5S in 2023. Disappointment is hardly the word. It's filled with advertisements. Everywhere you go there's a pop-up ad appearing. I find it extremely intrusive. But the worst problem is that there is no keyboard for messages. I have tried to solved the problem but failed. And there is nowhere to go to.
I droped it many times and it didnt break apart – Im satisfied with my current phone which survived from mobi citi, after it first launched, i got it around $300. I did have one problem of black screen, my phone got fried and got it fixed. screen repair was cheap too. Show details
terrible waste of money – This is the biggest waste of money I have ever spent on a phone. Since day one this phone has been slow, unresponsive and 6-8 months after purchase it is almost time for me to buy a new phone due to poor performance, on top of this, It's also incredibly flimsy and through regular use has bent in the middle. and I have owned 3 oppo devices in the past and all 3 have been more than satisfactory and lasted for a year at least. I wouldn't recommend this phone if you intend to use it for anything other than basic tasks like call, text and possibly internet browsing. On top of all this, it is loaded with built-in software that drags the already lacking power of this phone through the mud. The only positive for this phone is its battery life but when the phone is as weak as this there isn't much that would use the battery to begin with.

mainly. The gps on the phone is surprisingly good although at times it tends to wonder off and has to play catch up. Good thing I know where I am :) > Recently used the gps hardcore while travelling around the Silo Art Trail and the gps rocked it no drama. Now I am having major issues. For the last week the phone has started to play up. The camera and photo apps dissappeared off the screen. I found them and put them back. Not being tech minded that in itself is a bonus. Now the phone wont hold charge and the battery goes flat in a day. I am not a heavy phone user (text, messenger, occassional FB and minimal phone calls). So going from a weekly charge to a daily charge is super annoying. Off I go to purchase a new battey wish me luck. I love this phone and would hate to have to replace it.

personal phone. It's been dropped a bunch of times and no damage, as it also come with a case in the box. This phone isn't perfect, but very usable. For the price, it is great value for money, and would recommend to anyone in the market for a low cost device. I've come from using high end devices, and come to realise, that there's plenty of cheaper devices that do basically everything the big names do. The only thing I really miss is NFC.

freeway and not detecting alternative routes. --- Main issues about this phone is it's Bluetooth. It constantly disconnects from my car and Bluetooth headphones. When driving, the GPS and location frequently gets scrambled as I drive or lags behind me, it's horribly inaccurate. Frequently when browsing on the internet, the screen freezes due to the processor. Now my phone has stopped sounding notification, stopped ringing. Such a disappointment for $300. I've owned this phone for coming up 2 years now. My old iPhone 6s (with all its problems and my issues with apple) is FAR superior to this pos.

phone is great! 64GB, Decent screen, decent camera (during the day), good battery, nice build which looks premium, it is pretty snappy, I was even impressed. For what my parents need, this phone is fantastic and is very cost effective. We got my dads for $229 and my mums during black Friday for $199 at JB Hifi. The phone is already installed with a screen protector and a plastic case. I bought my dad a rugged case and my mum a wallet style case from Ebay. If you just need a phone to make calls, sms, a bit of web surfing and take everyday pics this is the phone for you. I did notice Color OS for these phones, don't offer a simple mode for the less tech savvy. Color OS is ok, if you are coming from a Samsung, Color OS isn't as good, but it has enough similarities to Android OS that anyone can pick it up.

here!! It comes with its own preinstalled screen protector and a thick clear plastic back protector in the package. It’s been dropped many times and remains completely free of marks with the exception of a bizarre little tear that appears to be underneath the laminated layer of thin plastic screen protector on the front. How can something tear from underneath without penetrating the outer layer of plastic ... don’t ask me!!! Baffling!!
Battery life easily a couple of days, obviously heavily dependent on usage. Extremely reliable. I think I’ve had a weird screen presentation on power up maybe twice since I’ve owned it, both easily fixed with restart. Faultless Bluetooth, impressive cameras for the price point. Good ring volume. I like that you can programme it to shutdown and power up at easily navigated setpoints .... reminds me of the telephone exchanges in the old days that used to shut down overnight!!!
Speaking of navigation. Everything seems intuitive, and the apps download and play well .... but not sure whether this is a feature of the phone or the software.
10/10 from this end, and at last a model I’d cheerfully buy again .... assuming it actually does die one day!!! The only down side ... and a minor one .... it seems to have a very unique charging plug input. It easily accepts other charge cables, but steadfastly refuses to charge off anything other than the one it came with.

Reliable and Cheap! – I purchased this phone after breaking my iPhone and the differences between the two aren’t many. The screen is a great size, the speed of using the phone is great, the photo quality is alright but still useable and it has a flawless cosmetic finish. Great phone great brand – Love my new Oppo. My previous Oppo F1s was fantastic and lasted about 3 yrs but charging port started to play up so it was time to upgrade. The Oppo ax5s phone is fantastic has more widgets and smoother interface. Bigger screen, great volume, tough gorilla Glass screen and just all round great value for money. Love it very much – I find the oppo completely suitable. Cheap, functional. I even got given a Samsung from work for free, and brand new one, and I gave it right back - I'll keep the oppo, I said.
This is a follow up review which on AX5, which is really an AX5S – I gave this phone a 3 because of the bad tinny music sound. However I am getting used to the rather tinny sound so I have upgraded the phone to 4 because the rest of the phone is working out really well. Very impressed with it, just a pity about the speaker. they were running out that model at very good prices. I paid $379 for it. At that time I was replacing an Apple iPhone 4s which was my very first smart phone purchase in 2011 and I paid about $1,000 for it. Whilst I was very happy with my original iPhone and 6 years service out of it the one thing I hated about Apple products was they and a lot of the app developers stop supporting the IOS after a few years. That really irked me because it was kind of like a forced blackmail to upgrade to their latest phone and I will never be held ransom to the Apple ideology that everybody must have their latest technology.
So to make a short story long in 2017 I decided to give the Samsung Galaxy S5 a go and to say that I was disappointed was an understatement. I persevered with this phone for 3 years and the last 12 months were agony. In comparison to the intuitive Apple IOS the Android operating system in my opinion was rubbish. It was moderately ok for the first 12 months but pretty soon the battery performance degraded to nothing. I factory reset my phone and purchased a new battery but that didn't make any difference and ended up having to buy a portable power bank to keep it charged and usable.
So roll on to Xmas 2019 and I've had enough of the Samsung and really had no choice but to put my hands in my pocket and buy a new phone. I had considered a number of models including the revamped old style basic Nokia's which back in the day used to have a standby time of 1-2 weeks, however, decided against as I a have got used to the features of a smartphone.
As I said I flat out refuse to pay $1,000 or even over $500 for a phone and I like to buy my phones outright using a pre-paid sim rather than a post paid plan. I don't want to be locked in to an overpriced phone contract for 2 years.
So after quite a bit of internet research and a bit of looking in the various stores, some word of mouth from one of my friends, my main criteria being a low priced smartphone with excellent battery time I settled on an OPPO A5Xs. Please don't confuse this with the A5X. Whilst it is the same series and a very similar phone the A5Xs is the newest model.
I had been keeping my eye on the prices and they had just been reduced to $239 (unlocked) at a number of stores, however, I purchased mine for $215 from JB Hi-Fi after I simply asked what price they could do that for me.
I've had my phone now for close to 2 weeks now and I am extremely happy with my purchase. The battery life is simply amazing. I never have battery range anxiety any more. I have had my phone off charge all day so far and it is still at 96% whereas my Samsung would probably be down to about 20%.
Feature wise for a $215 phone it is impressive. Whilst it is an Android phone OPPO have their own customised version of the Android OS called ColorOS and it the interface is so much like the Apple IOS it is not funny. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if Apple actually took OPPO to court for it as they are so similar. It has a pretty big what they a Waterdrop screen which features a 6.2 inch Corning Gorilla Glass screen so you can see more. It comes in Red and Black and I purchased the Black. It is not cheap and plasticacy like other phones in the price range.
The battery is 4230mAh which allows you to play games, listen to music or watch movies for longer. According to the OPPO Australia website it has an upgraded CPU so you can multi-task with multiple apps all at once without degrading performance.
There is a Dual Rear Camera with AI Beautification 2.0 and also a pretty good selfie camera. The photos are a lot clearer than my old Samsung. I'm sure there would be better cameras out there but for this price I wouldn't think so.
The features and things you can do are enormous. The instruction manual is 386 pages long and there are too many features and benefits to list in one review. I would suggest doing a google search for OPPO A5Xs ColorOS5.2 instruction manual and read through the features. It has so many good features you would think you had a phone that was over $1,000 dollars but it's not.
It is also a dual sim phone, meaning you can have two sim cards with 2 separate phone numbers on the one phone, which is great if you have a work phone as well, so you don't have to carry around 2 separate phones anymore. Me, I don't have a work phone so it's not something I need but it is there if I want to use it.
The only downside would be for people who are used to using their smartphones as a credit card. It doesn't have NFC but in my opinion that is not a biggy. I would rather use my physical credit card when paying rather than risk having that on my phone. What if I lost my phone or it was stolen then you risk someone using your phone to go on a spending spree.
