A phone that is durable – I have had this phone just over a year and half now. It worked like a dream for quite some time. Most apps ran smoothly without issue, the speaker delivers decent quality sound when streaming music/movies and earpiece/microphone are decent(people could actually hear me on calls). It could handle running apps, calls and being a hot spot all at… Read more
once, which was impressive given the 6gbram.The battery has been the most amazing part, having heavy use and yet still keeping up for most of the day, vocc charge made it super easy to get a little bit of juice with limited time. It has been dropped so many times and yet only recently had incurred a minor surface scratch on the bottom of the screen. At first the fingerprint reader had issues, however since the updates it is now running smoothly.
Then the issues started, lag when typing (even when nothing else is running in background) apps randomly closing, GPS signal cutting out and a need to restart the phone every now and then *The latest colorOS update has fixed this*. The camera started off brilliant, great colours and no motion blur, selfie camera was very clear, good night mode for photos and recording on rear camera. Lately it is a bit blurry (despite cleaning the Camera and no lens damage) even when unmoved, shuttle speed delay and when in certain lightening looks as though I have taken it on a really cheap phone.
Overall it has been a pretty reliable phone, one of the best phones I've had. Oppo has made this phone pretty user friendly and customisable, it's a great hybrid between android and iOS. A good phone for people that like to keep organised, have a realible device and don't have much time to charge their phone. One more note is the screen gets dirty very easily, lots of smear marks more than other phones (I have two other smartphones that don't get as greasy).
Great phone – Only phone I've had that I haven't destroyed within a year. Screen is durable have dropped it 100s of times and the screen is still crack free. Phone battery and performance is great and I love the split screen feature Show details
Was great until an update that stopped my texts from sending and changed a heap of things in my phone – PROS: - Colour is gorgeous! - Camera is amazing - Big Screen - Not as expensive as other brands. CONS: - Updated my phone with the latest pending update in 2019 and my texts wont send now... - Phone calls keep hanging up every 10 minutes on the dot. Both things are the main reason for even having a phone so as much as I love the PROS to this phone I will not be buying an Oppo again unfortunately...... Show details
Fails the most basic functions – I have had this phone for 12mths and it drives me crazy. Somehow the ringtone always get to zero without me knowing and I miss so many calls. It pocket dials all the time, how can it unlock and pocket dial numbers that are not in my list? Then there is the light, people say "your phone light is on" when it is in my pocket, how does it turn on? The… Read more
phone is set to lock so how does it unlock all the time. I changed from Samsung to Oppo, Oppo did work for a while but it seems a Color OS upgrade has sent this phone crazy. I really wanted Oppo to work, I used to be in that industry. Oh, did I mention Arlo Security Camera alarms do not work, again after the Color OS upgrade. I just can not find a reason to own this phone given the basic functions it fails at.
Was great....until update for colors 6 – Everything paired beautifully, little hiccups that I could live with, as not too of the range....then I upgraded software. Couldn't pair, Bluetooth issues with tv and car audio. Customer service, none Show details
Wow..... What a phone – I bought this phone after a lot of review research and can't help but be so happy with my choice. The camera is awesome, the apps are speedy, and the speed that it charges with the factory charger is amazingly quick. I've had all of the big brands and the Oppo continues to impress. Step outside the square and you'll find the Oppo a mobile phone with a better price but no compromises to the big brands. When I updated, it'll be another Oppo Show details
Great value for money phone – The good. Great phone considering the price of under $650. Dual sim, battery that lasts days and charges super fast, both front and rear cameras have good quality pictures, huge onboard storage, relative quick processor The bad. No additional SD card storage but really not needed, a tiny bit glitchy and slow sometimes Show details
Excellent – Purchased a Oppo r17 pro phone ,Great Phone Great service, recieved phone within two days ,was a great deal and am very happy with the phone, thanks guy's and may buy a second one for the wife.
Oppo not quite what I thought – A bit tricky unless you did not know how to check a call is disconnected. Got caught with a $1000 bill! It was not obvious just to check on the phone page. Apps are only where you place them, meaning there is no ALL APPS for you to find a particular app. However, the camera is brilliant. 4 months down the track and I know how to handle this phone, but I believe Oppo needs to make some improvements.
Best Mobile I have owned (I also own a Galaxy S9) – Bought this phone mainly for the the camera (overseas holiday) and I am very impressed so far, equal to or better than the S9. This is my 3rd Oppo phone in the R Series (R11 & R7) and have been highly impressed with each of them. I give it 5 stars because It does everything I was expecting, however I do agree that the unavailability of a functioning 3rd camera would be annoying. Show details
Amazing Value for Money - Dual Sim - Camera is the best on the market !!! – So it was time to upgrade my faithful Sony. To the amusement of many, especially my 'i-phone 8 plus' owner wife, I have stuck with Sony ever since (the original) Nokia closed their doors - Sony were reasonably priced and simple to operate; perfect for my 68 years LOL. Overseas friends advised the best value on the market was Oppo. Oppo? Never… Read more
heard of them! So I researched. Seems the online reviews were excellent - lots of bang for the buck. To cut the long story short, I shelled out the $899 (what's the bet it comes on special next week LOL). The first big problem was there was no manual. I had no idea how anything worked. Having said that, everything seemed obvious and there were few issues firing everything up. There is a clone feature so you can move everything from your old phone to the Oppo R17 Pro. Nice feature and makes life easy. Working out how to insert dual sims was awkward as it is different to previous Oppo's and took some time to work out. Nothing could be found online!!! Seems that the tray is double sided so one sim fits to the top of the tray and the other to the bottom. Took me a bit of time to work that one out. But, once I had it all up and running, I was blown away by the speed and features. Face recognition is excellent and will correctly detect even at different angles. Ditto fingerprint which worked without issue. Then the camera - WOW! This is some of the best imaging I've seen in a smartphone. iPhone don't even come close! The night setting is particularly useful as it avoids all that blurry stuff. Taking a picture of Christmas lights is amazing - soooo clear. Try that on the iPhone and all you see is blur. Overal, the Oppo R17 Pro is worth every dollar. To me, it outperforms my wifes iPhone 8 Plus in every way. Online reviews suggest the iPhone X can't match it either - but you'll need to make up your own mind about that :) I totally recommend the Oppo R17 Pro. If you're not sure about the brand, let me say it is one of the most popular brands overseas and has been around a long long time. Why it has taken them so long to enter the Australian market I can't answer but I sure am glad they did. Perhaps not surprisingly, my wife has now ditched her iPhone 8 Plus and purchased an Oppo R17 Pro also - she has been an iPhone user for the past 10 years, and Samsung before that. How's that for a recommendation :)
ToF Camera not operational at time of launch – I purchased this phone because it had three cameras - the third being a special 3D ToF (time of frame) camera for 3D modelling. There was a huge amount of marketing about this feature - still is. When I got the phone I tried to work the camera for a few days with no luck. Then I started digging and found the camera is not even operational. No… Read more
word about this when I bought it, and I had ported all my information onto the phone and given my old phone away.
So if you are looking to buy based on the marketing, bear this in mind. They do not offer what the marketing says they offer. I feel like I wasted $897 and was lied to, which is not a nice experience for a buyer.
Excellent phone for half the price! – Wanting to update my iPhone 6s, but not wanting to pay over $2,000 for a new iPhone, I decided on the new Oppo R17 Pro after reading very good reviews on its predecessor, the R15 Pro. I have had the phone for two weeks now, and I love it! The Color OS is similar to Apple's IOS, which I like, and the phone is super fast and takes excellent… Read more
photos. The finger print unlock can be a bit hit and miss if you don't get your finger exactly in the right position, but the facial recognition works really well, so you don't need it anyway.
Before buying, I was concerned that I might not get reception with a phone not tested for 'blue tick' rural usage with the patchy coverage we have where I live, but it works as well as any other phone around here.
It only comes in two colours, and I opted for the emerald, which (as I was hoping) is much darker than it appears online. The radiant mist was a bit bright and flashy for me!
The new iPhone XS Max may be a better phone according to the experts, but at twice the price, I doubt it is twice as good! This is a great phone, and I would definitely recommend it.
