Very functional – Purchased phone April 2016, ex demo from retailer. Works well, owned various androids, took a little to accept ColorOS but quite functional. Dual sim which I have a 64GB MicroSD in one slot is just brilliant. No new updates pushing out from OPPO so installed custom ROM from LinageOS and running Android 9 Pie, works well and I do prefer Android… Read more
Vanilla, so close enough, being able to install a custom ROM a big plus. Had good battery life until June 2019, probably replace battery for now, still a good phone.
So many positives, one real downside – Prior to this phone I had only brought Samsung phones for several years. I was anxious about spending too much money buying this and regretting it but it has done me really really well. I decided to try this because of its quick charge and the fact it was a dual SIM card phone so I could put both my work and personal SIM card into the same… Read more
phone and it was one less item.I had to carry around at work. The battery lasts pretty well considering how much of a heavy user I am of the phone. Simple easy smooth common.sense operating system and set up. I can have over 100 web browser Windows left open, and several other apps, while I still play games or watch movies with no hassles, lag rock jumping.
Downside - it's hopeless at taking night time /evening photos or video.
Started okay but now I regret buying it – I have switched from Windows phone to this OPPO and the fact that all Android apps worked on it was really big win for me. I have associated that step change to OPPO as well and even made jokes around asking people why they would spend double the money to get and IPhone 6 at that time. After one and a half years I think that this phone is nowhere… Read more
near IPhone or Samsung phones and is not cheap compared to what it does.
Camera is pretty bad. Android updates are only possible as long as Oppo provides their ColorOS which is not happening so I am still on the same Android as the day when I bought it.
I have tried connecting it to my car using Android Auto and got some crazy noise on a car which works great with other Android phones (i.e. Samsung S8) and IPhones.
Finally I had to restore it to factory settings as it occasionally stops receiving SMS messages in timely manner. Instead it receives them with 10-20 minutes delay. This can be really inconvenient when you are trying to login to two factor authentication services such as E-banking or to buy something online which asks for mobile authorisation. These will timeout before the message comes through.
When reported to Telstra they tried to help but have mentioned clearly that they have never tested their network on my phone and don't know if it works well.
Overall I am really unhappy with it. It does basic operations but has let me down many times and that is the worst possible outcome. When you expect little then you are not disappointed. OPPO promised a lot and then failed to deliver and keeps failing further as time goes on. Am waiting to depreciate it a bit further and move on to some other brand.
Awesome mid range mobile – I purchased this is for my spouse in feb 2016 and still performance is awesome. colorsOS give wonderful widget. Charging is super fast and battery lasting good enough to watch movies. The build quality is also good. The only drawback is its availability, I want to but this is for myself but could not found it in local stores and finally brought… Read more
oppof1s which is not good as compare to r7s. camera and screen quality is wonderful. This is very good option in this prices range ( 340 AUD< )
Oppo not suitable for use in the USA – I have had an OPPO R7 from the time they were initially introduced into the Australian market. I was recommended these on a cruise thru Asia by another cruiser who had purchased theirs in Hong Kong. So whilst in HK I reviewed the product and it appeared to be ok but decided not to purchase on my travels but wait until my return to Australia.I… Read more
found that JB hi-fi had just started to sell OPPO as a ole distributor and got a good deal.
I had no reason to take the OPPO out of the country as I would use another pone for that purpose but I recently travelled to the USA with the OPPO R7 fitted with a Tmobile sim card so I could keep in contact with family travelling with us and to keep in touch with any business needs. Well the sim card would not operate in the phone, it would say that it was connected to TMobile but it could note make or receive calls. Initially believing it to be a sim problem I contacted the outlet that sold me the card and they checked and stared it was registered with TMobile however efforts to contact me failed with a message that the phone was NOT connected to the network. The sim supplier tried their hardest to get it to connect eventually contacting the Tmobile service. TMobile service spent a good one and a half hours trying repeatedly to determine the problem but were unsuccessful, even trying new sim cards to no avail.
I contacted OPPO support in Australia b will experience the same difficulties because OPPO is not sold in the USAy email seeking their assistance all I was told was to check the frequency that TMobile operated on and no further support was given. Then after a week they asked for a satisfaction score on their handling of the matter - I could only give them 1 because the replied to my email.
The problem appears to centre on the fact that OPPO is not suitable to the US networks and will not sync to there network correctlt. HIS MEANS THAT USE OF AN OPPO PHONE IN THE USA, MEXICO ETC IS A WASTE OF TIME.
The solution is don't buy OPPO if you intent to travel with it to to USA, Canada and Mexico use an APPLE or equivilient phone, or buy a throwaway phone in the US
Interestingly other models such as the R.9
Great phone well made – Bought this phone as a stopgap solution to my Samsung breaking and I LOVE it so much more. Only negative is the memory card can't seem to load. I have tried this with multiple cards. Apart from that it is very impressive. Sturdy scratch resistant and excellent operating system. Show details
Im happy with it – Well after lots of looking around for a phone with a large screen I opted for this, mainly on price and features, so far so good, it works well is very quick compared to my Samsung s4 mini, quick to charge, no complaints. If you want a brand name phone skip this, if you want a phone that does everything you need from a phone with a good price tag… Read more · 2
have a look you may be surprised. The acid test is how long before it starts having issues. If it does I will be back on this forum to let everyone know but so far so good.
Another great Oppo phone – Just purchased an Oppo R7s also from DS sale. Solved my lads overdue Xmas and birthday present. The same excellent build quality, almost exactly the same features and internal spec of my Oppo R7 Plus (read my report here). Again, it's got a brilliant 5.5" FHD Amoled screen this time, same Color OS 2.1 overlay, a similar high screen to body ratio,… Read more
android buttons in the screen space but in a slightly smaller frame - a little shorter, quite a bit narrower (easier to hold and operate) but significantly thinner and lighter, a 3070MAh battery, with VOOC (very) fast charger, image stabilization, 4Gb ram (not 3Gb) and improved audio. He's happy.
Good Phone – I recently purchased an Oppo R7s mobile phone. The R7s is an updated R7.difference being a bigger 5.5 inch screen and a better battery lasting all day, for talk some what less for browsing, calling combined. So far so good well made solid feel to it,with good looks for a mid range phone. It has full aluminium body and amazingly very thin. It does… Read more · 2
everything it should. It cost me $425 from Dick smith from a closing down sale, (approx $100 off), so I thought I'd give it a go.
In reviews on many sites they state that it is not so crash hot for videos or photos, not bad just adequate, then again you get what you pay for.
O.k Oppo is not very well known as yet, in Australia, however it is quite good so far in my opinion.
I just wanted an outright phone, and not pay exorbitant plan fees or double the price for double the price outright phone.such as a Samsung Galaxy 6 or galaxy note 5 being $800-1000
Will review in another 6 months, with any issues with the phone.
