My Optimus LAB -1100 works really well for one side of a vinyl record. Once the vinyl has been turned over and play has been pushed the needle activates and lowers onto the vinyl then returns to the stand. it will not play another vinyl for a few days and the same problem occurs. this means that i can only listen to one side of a record every few days. any thoughts on how i could fix this problem?

Are you letting the tone arm go to the centre of the record and return to the rest and the power turn itself off before turning the record over?

Sue

Yes

Daniel Ruben
Daniel Ruben

Are you able to just manually push the tone arm to the start of the record instead of using the auto start function, or is there resistance from the mechanism?

Sue
Sue

If i manually put the tone arm to the start of the record then it just lifts up and returns to the rest.

How do you put the belt on. As mine has come off. It's an Optimus 1100

Craig G.
Craig G.

Remove the rubber mat and you will see a tiny circlip in the centre holding the metal platter on. Remove this and remove the platter. Put the new belt around the inside of the platter. Put your finger through the hole in the platter from the other side to hold the belt out in one spot. As you lower the platter hook the belt with your finger around the drive spindle. Make sure it spins freely without any twists in the belt. Replace the circle and mat.

I have an old Optimus LAB-1100 and no longer have an amplifier or speakers. Was wondering if I could plug directly into the sound connections on my TV?

Craig G.
Craig G.

If you have the red, yellow and white AV inputs you can plug into the red and white inputs. You can then select the AV input in your TV source and you should be able to hear the music. Make sure your turntable is set to Line Out and not Phono output. Remove your turntable rubber mat and rotate the platter until you can see the switch through the platter hole at 12 o'clock.

What connector do you need to connect the two RCA jacks from the turntable into the computer? Do you do it through a USB port or HDMI port?

Craig G.
Craig G.

If you have a line in jack on your computer - external link

Daniel Ruben
Daniel Ruben

You do it with a 3.5mm stereo jack to the mic/line in port on your PC. Many laptops these days don't have a separate mic in port. In that case you'll have to purchase a USB soundcard/adapter for about $20 from eBay or Amazon. (Don't get the $5 USB 3D sound type, it's mono output only. Get the 5.1 Optical/SPDIF type with a separate Line In port.)

Ian C.
Ian C.

Actually what I should have added is that I want to connect it to my computer to record the tracks for later putting onto a USB. Is this possible?

Ian C.
Ian C.

Thank you guys. My laptop has a headset (ie headphone and mic) 3.5mmport. I plugged the turntable into this and the laptop seems to notice something is connected as it asks for what was plugged in - headset, headphone, Line in, etc. I clicked Line in but the computer doesn't recognise the device nor can you hear the music playing. I also tried all the other options but still no luck. When it is connected through the 3.5mm port should you be able to record the songs onto the computer for later use?

Had same problems with mine although once on phono out to amp all was well BUT I have a ground loop humm through speakers when ground wire is connected. Disconnect and disappears. Read they don't need ground as RCA has inbuilt ground. Running to Rotel PM620. THANKS

I've had my turntable in storage for a few years and when I tried to use it I have no power. There's no lights on to see if it's getting power to the unit. Does the earth need to be connected to work? I have the power lead in and the RCA leads to the amp, but nothing is happening

How do you adjust speed. Seems to be running fast... about 38-39 rpm on 33 rpm setting

Craig G.
Craig G.

Check your belt isn't twisted or you have dust or fluff stuck to the inside. There may be a speed adjustment screw on the motor like in cassette players.

My optimus lab-1100’s play button isn’t activating it to play anymore. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this??

I have just bought the Optimus LAB 1100 , checked stylus , looks ok ,checked earth lead, looks ok, still getting distorted sound . Have moved leads while playing , sound is trying to clear

Daniel Ruben
Daniel Ruben

Hi. Are you talking about a hum or buzzing sound while playing? This has been affecting my turntable as well. It's because of too many wifi/smart devices. When taking the turntable out of range of 2.4GHz smart devices, the humming/buzz disappears. If you are talking about a clipped/overdriven sound however, this may be due to too much amplification. The Optimus has its own phono pre-amp and you can find the switch underneath the rubber turntable cover. Toggling it on/off may solve the problem.

I've pulled out my old Optimus Lab-1100 from storage and back on the vinyl. But the old girl is a little noisy when spinning. Any hints to fix this?

Bruce
Bruce

Could be the old belt has stiffened and has a bit of memory. If so replace it. A drop of Machine oil on the motor spindle wouldn’t hurt either!

What kind of speakers do I need to play my Optimus fully automatic belt drive turntable?

Bruce
Bruce

Hi Penny, the speakers you need are dependent on which amplifier you have and of course, your budget. As this turntable has a built in phono preamp, just about any amplifier can be used. You can even plug this turntable directly into powered (or “active”) speakers which have a built in amplifier. Check out the range of Edifier powered/active speakers if you prefer to not have a separate amplifier.

I have connected the turntable to my laptop via a RCA to AUX adapter and when I try to play test it using the laptop speakers no sound is produced. What can I do to make it work as I want to digitise old records into mp3 format

Bruce
Bruce

Hi, The Lab 1100 doesn't have a USB output, so your PC will not be able to recognise it as a music source. You will need an analogue-to-digital converter with USB output in order to connect it to your PC and record the music. Some turntables have this feature built in, but the Optimus Lab 1100 does not.

Daniel Ruben
Daniel Ruben

If you have it plugged into your microphone port, then you have to make sure the mic properties in the sound settings are set up properly. You may have to set the port as the default recording device and adjust the mic levels before you hear anything.

Worked a few months ago. Unplugged it to move furniture and sat dormant for a while. Now I cannot even get the turntable to power on... I've removed the bottom panel and all components "look" good. Would love any guidance!

Bruce
Bruce

So, no power at all to the motor and it’s not spinning at all? Check the power cord. These are simple things so not much to go wrong.

matt h.
matt h.

That's right - no power at all. No noises or movement of any sort as far as I can tell. I have ZERO clue when it comes to motors etc. so I'm afraid unless there's an easy answer I'm up the creek.

Does the Optimus 2250 work without speakers?

Francis Ng
Francis Ng

I purchase the Optimus Lab1100 turntable in Melbourne sometime ago. The belt from the motor drive came off and I could not figure it out how to fix it back. I can send it the image of it if you could let me have your email address. It would be could if you can be an image of the position, it would be of help. And I need to know where I purchase the stylus and belt. Thank you. Regards, Francis Ng

Bruce
Bruce

Hi Francis, replacing the belt is quite easy really. Have a look at this video on YouTube: external link  You can order the belts from Soundring. You will need to measure your platter as per the instructions. external link  You can buy the stylus at JB HiFi and on the internet, eBay etc. for about AU$20. The stylus you need is the Audio Technica ATN3600 external link

I hope this helps!

I don’t have one any more to measure it, but if you do an online search, you will find vendors selling the belts for them. Good luck!
