Orbit Perfect Pattern Sprinkler with a Precision Arc

Brlliant idea but short life – Bought two, both stopped working after less than two years. The second got stuck in a 360 degrees pattern. I found it like this, as if something got broken inside, but no one touched it. I called the number that is listed as the reference in Australia and New Zealand (08 9484 6500) but they were not able to help in any way, saying that there are… Read more
no spare parts available, and when they do that they are just faulty. So, if you are thinking to buy these units, just keep in mind that they have apparently a very limited life and there is no real assistance with them, at least in Australia and New Zealand. The product is intelligent and really well thought, although not so well desisigned, and it dies soon...
Absolute junk – This sprinkler gave me headaches from the start. It seemed so simple. 1. Set the boundaries 2. Set the distance at each interval. First thing is that the entire machine goes past the boundaries set and keeps spinning in a 360 degree motion. After almost an hour of adjusting pressure from the tap and on each of the pressure adjusters I got the… Read more
sprinkler to move correctly. HOWEVER this sprinkler decides to give me another issue....
There are two sprinkler nozzles, one shoots water in an arc and the other shoots water directly infront of the sprinkler causing the area around the sprinkler to be flooded. I ended up with a pond around where my sprinkler was planted.
OH AND IT LEAKES AT THE BASE. DO NOT BUY.
I would have been better off hand watering.
I like it! – I got two of them and they work! The lawn is lush and I like it. Since the pressure is best early morning it gets about 25 feet radius and cover it all. The sector tabs are easy to adjust but some of the distance knobs are a little hard to operate. Overall I think it's a great idea and I like it.
Unmerchantable Product – I bought 22 of these sprinklers, they sounded "so good". My experience was exactly the same as "Riverina"....PLUS.... 8 of the 22 jammed in a fixed position all within 3 months of purchase. Lawns quickly developed dry dying patches. Each sprinkler developed a dead V shaped patch behind the 15mm gap in the so called 360 deg. Orbit describes… Read more
this as a good thing, because it allows dry access to do the adjustments whilst the unit is functioning. All 22 were returned for credit as they were of "Unmerchantable quality".
Worst Sprinkler Ever – I was looking for a new lawn sprinkler in a certain hardware store in a Big Green Shed a couple of days ago and came across this one. 'Orbit' perfect pattern sprinkler. It is gear driven, can water odd shaped lawns, has an adjustable spray distance of 2.75 to 9m, and will cover 360 degrees. Also at $48.50 it wasn't cheap. But I bought it as I… Read more
have a tub full of sprinklers that are of average capability and I am tired of moving my present sprinkler to four seperate locations on my lawn so as to water it, with a lot of that water also watering nearby paths. This was going to be the "ducks guts". Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. So, it spits out a thin stream of water which is more likely to annoy the lawn than water it. Maximum distance would be approx. 4m, which is no where near the 9m claimed. Yes, you can adjust the distance on the numerous tabs around the sprinkler head so as the outlet passes each one it is volume controlled. But the amount coming out is more akin to a childs water pistol than a sprinkler. As for 360 degrees, again rubbish. The tabs on the sprinkler head which limit the rotation angle from 0 to 360 degrees - as claimed, do not come together entirely they can only be pushed to within 15mm of each other. Now this point, 15mm apart, is the apex of the triangle so with 4m being the length of the hypotenuse on each side of the triangle it leaves a base length of some 2m which does not get any water at all! Just to clarify some variables which may affect the operation of any sprinkler, those being water pressure and volume. My yard taps are serviced by a very large capacity Davey water pump pushing water through 38mm lines, out a 3/4" tap and then via an 18mm garden hose to the sprinkler. My water pressure is fantastic and better than any town supply I have ever seen. It is my intention to return this sprinkler to the Big Green Shed next time I go into town for a full refund. It is absolute rubbish.
