Would not be on the water without this brilliant safety device (MX500 VHF Marine Radio)

What an easy to use vhf radio. Nice and compact with the benefit of being waterproof. A very reliable and robust radio indeed. Highly recommend especially suited for KAYAK Fishers. Additionally, after sales team at Oricom are outstanding. 10/10 for customer service. Show details ·  1

Great product

A simple to use but effective radio that ticks all the boxes for my needs. I use the radio in my tinny for close to shore fishing and it has performed very well. Show details ·  1

Perfect for the dinghy

Got this for the car top tinnie. We don’t take it far off shore so this is perfect for keeping in contact with others nearby. Peace of mind in case of emergency.  Show details ·  1

Not waterproof

Water condensation in the screen after light use and Oricom wanted proof of purchase which after searching emails i could find no evidence of it so recomment that you keep your receipt! Show details

Good for purpose

More likely to take this and use it because it floats and water proof. Less weight in back pack too. Very practical and I have more confidence in it as a safety device because of its resilience in water. Show details ·  1

MX500 GREAT PRODUCT

I arranged the purchase of the MX500 for sailors when our yacht club mandated radio communications three years ago. They have performed really well. I sail twice a week, after a full season the battery still has plenty battery life.

We broke the spring clip, Kevin mailed a replacement N/C.

Many thanks, GREAT PRODUCT

Workhorse Radio

We have been trialing Oricom MX500 radios for some time in commercial operations including search and rescue. The radio has an amazing battery life to the point we have never drained one in a full day of operations. They are light, float and will take a knock in rough weather. I never leave harbor without one attached to a life jacket anymore. Show details ·  1

is there a trick opening the ac charging port. Do you need a spanner??

Deano

No but it's really tight to open. It's tight to ensure the port remains water proof

Whakatane coast guard (NZ)channel is chl 60. My mx500 does not have chl 60. What do I do to get it please.

Hi John, Check the radio is set to international channels. Hold down the CH for more than 1 second to change channel group. Pages 5 and 6 in the user guide have the instruction, and you must select International group. We hope that helps. Oricom.
