not a good experience as the red blades are continuously coming off despite being put on properly, a real nuisance and one that i am advised can not be fixed Show details
5 year replacement warranty - endless supply! – Bought this because I already had other Ozito products, a compatible battery charger and batteries, and manufacturer Einhell has good credibility in the electric hand-tools space. I also had an arm injury and found starting a petrol line trimmer difficult and painful. I have an average suburban garden with Sir Walter buffalo grass and lots of path… Read more
and garden edges. Out of the box, I was impressed with the weight balance with 2 x 4.0AH batteries on one end and motor on the other, but removed the large line guard after finding it obstructed view, disallowed using the trimmer at certain angles, lacked adjustment and only added to the weight. Disappointed that there was no option for rotating the head for using the trimmer vertically for path edges, meaning you have to hold the machine on its side and rotate your hand on the grip to squeeze the trigger and hold the side of the handle. Poor design in that regard. The ergonomics are very ordinary. Initially I found the auto bump line feed didn't work but have since realised you cannot hit the rotating head too hard downwards as it stalls the motor negating the centrifugal force needed to rotate the line cartridge. The motor is vulnerable to dust and debris and the warning regarding keeping water out is also an indication of its vulnerability given the need for at least some cooling slots. This highlights the other main weakness of this machine. The motor is underpowered meaning it drops revs too easily in thicker grass unless you rev it like an F1 car, and as a result, combined with inadequate cooling, overheats and eventually burns out. I managed to get 18 months out of my first unit before it smoked to a standstill, although the last 6 months it has been truly on the nose. The replacement warranty is the key to surviving with this line trimmer as you don't have to wait and sweat for timely repairs to be carried out. This time around I am going to make a concerted effort to keep the revs up and try and avoid overloading.
Great for what it is – For a small yard it does well. Lightweight but strong enough if you stay on top of your yard work. Show details
I didn't want to like it, but I love it (so far) – My old 56V multi tool battery wore out and now lasts only 15 min. I decided to replace it with a new beast. I was tossing between several expensive brands but I could not decide which system to buy into. I have few Ozito tools and batteries though. My yard was getting messy with long grass so I thought, for now I just buy the Ozito whipper snipper… Read more
skin since it costs less than a battery of a higher voltage system. I put it together in few minutes and started getting my yard in order. This whipper snipper, although a little bit less comfortable to hold, than my old system, was cutting through grass better than my old expensive system. The 4ah batteries lasted whole yard. The bumper string extending works beautifully. It comes apart into two parts but because the motor is at the bottom there is no spinning axle in the tube so when put apart it is not messy with oil. I bought it as a temporary solution but I'm going to keep it until it breaks down. Using it almost feels like cheating, getting a whipper snipper that works better than my old one but for the half the cost of its battery.
UPDATE: I gave it a go at another, the knee high, overgrown yard today. The whipper snipper was definitely struggling and I could see the clear difference between high powered system and this one. This is still a more than sufficient system for a typical suburban yard but don't expect it to perform in a more challenging environment.
First one dead after 5 usage and Second started smoking after one use – Apart from the 5-year warranty rest of everything about this is a mess. Bought my first one early this year (Feb 2022) and may have used it 5 - 6 times and it stopped working. Took it to Bunnings. They inspected it and gave me a new one in exchange. The second one worked fine the first time and then the motor started smoking during my second use. … Read more
Using this gives a hand sore because of the expectation that you got to keep the button pressed all the time during usage. The default spool and Ozito replacement spools are of the most inferior quality. I spent half the time correcting the spool while using it.
Poor design. Regret buying – The variable speed trigger is a pain (literally), and my forearm is still sore today. To keep the thing cutting efficiently, the trigger needs to be held tight, which is very uncomfortable after only a few minutes. Going to break warranty and make it just on or off. Even in short grass, the supplied line frequently breaks right at the end of the… Read more
spool, or even inside the spool, which means I had to open the thing up multiple times in a half hour run. Compared to my other brand electric trimmers, it seems as if the exit hole is just too sharp and the line fatigues quickly even without accidentally hitting a stick hidden in longer grass. The trimmer isn't really designed for tougher weeds. The single line makes cutting painfully slow, and it's just as inefficient as my other dual line electric trimmers when one of the lines runs out. The bump head is extraordinarily stiff and I struggle to get extra line without stopping and actually pushing the thing in myself. My other brand battery trimmers are so easy, and I can't figure out the problem. Perhaps it's satisfactory for others with small yards and no experience with a good trimmer, but I'd expect much more from a 36volt machine. Only bought it because I had spare batteries. Despite its low price, it's a waste of money.
Started smoking with only 1 hour of use – Not a bad snipper, decent power with a few downsides - safety guard only allows 150mm of line before hitting - trigger is too far back on the stick, starts to ache after awhile when you have to push the safety switch and pull trigger at same time. Best to tape it into position. Started to smell burning plastic after trimming my 30 metre fence… Read more
line and noticed white smoke coming out of the motor.
Took back to bunnings for an instant exchange without them even looking in the box.
Will update if my 2nd one doesn't blow up.
Impressive for a ozito – I have used many line trimmers over the years, even have a 4 stroke brush cutter, this ozito is worth every penny, light weight, and has plenty of grunt with the two 18v batteries. Last a long time before the batteries run out. over the past three days of use, have not used the first 8 metres of line, very impressed.
