Great concept, but poorly made and with a design flaw – I love how this tent allows you to open up to the outside world and let in breeze, but it lacks durability. I've probably used this tent around a dozen times, but the elastic string has already come detached from one of the main poles. More importantly, there's a cross-bar that ensures you likely eventually rip the fly on it while erecting the… Read more
tent, which is what happened to me. I'd recommend ignoring their instructions and putting on the fly before the crossbar.
Like many tent manufactures these days, it comes with barely adequate pegs, so I'd also suggest buying some longer ones to keep the tent more secure during windy weather.
Pleasantly surprised! – Given the price of the tent we didn't have high hopes, however after a year of frequent usage, this tent has pleasantly surprised us! The ultimate test was during a particularly wet camping trip where many other campers woke to flooded tents, yet ours did not leak! Definitely use the guy ropes though, we found the shape is not the most… Read more
streamlined.
The vestibule area is comfortable, the big windows are great for circulation during hot days.
Very easy to set up and take down once you get the hang of it the first time.
We use a tarp underneath for added moisture protection. May not be necessary though. We do this to keep the mud off the underneath section.
The material feels "cheap", but so far the tent has held up well on rain, heat and wind.
Poor quality control – First camping trip with newly purchased 6v dome; upon opening I find all the poles separate and missing the elastic (or with pieces of elastic partially threaded through). Obviously makes setting up the tent much harder. Managed to set it up with the aid of some gaffer tape and find a hole in the mossie screen as well. Very disappointed with the quality control. Almost ruined a camping trip.
Removal of previously excellent product features – I'm a returned customer of the Oztrail Breezeway 4V Dome Tent but not anymore. I first bought one in 2010. It was perfect as it used to be able to control room temperature, all from the inside of the tent via the zippers that were fitted to the "window side" mosquito screens, now they're sewn in. The same model used to be extremely easy for one… Read more
person to put up, now it requires two, (as per the instruction manual) which is an inconvenience.
Most disappointing modifications by the manufacturer (Oztrail) on what used to be a top notch tent. :(
Please note, this is not a shot at the retailer.
great size windows for aussie camping – we have used tent 3 times, once on grass and twice on sand quite easy to set up for the kind of tent (the dome style are always a little fiddly) haven't encountered rain while camping I bought this tent because it is SO HOT to camp in a tent in the warmer months, the Breezeway style was the best option as it has large windows that are designed to let the air flow through. I've found it to be cooler than other tents I've had in the past.
Average tent. poor after sales service. replacements no longer supported – had this tent for a few years now and have used all of maybe 10 times. In decent wind the sides of the tent tend to fold down and you pretty much end up sleeping in a swag. I had two poles snap (one fibreglass and one steel) and replacements were hard to come by. After sales support is poor and conflicting information is received from different… Read more
staff members if and when they decide to return your calls. Whilst the tent is relatively inexpensive for a large tent, you're still forking out close to $500 and if I had my time again, I would have spent a little more and bought a quality tent.
Great tent – I've taken this tent (3v version) on the road for nearly 9 months with a lot of frequent use in various weather. Has held up against high wind and heavy rain. Its never leaked, only a small bit of condensation in the rain fly. Like most tents, if they are erected properly taking weather into consideration and taken care of they'll give you no trouble.
Breezeway II Chalet 4 - Fantastic tent with loads of space and well thought features – Deceivingly compact when packed down, but once it's open, it's a great size with a large floor space and over 6' head height in the centre. Can fit a king air-mattress with easy and can Actually sleep up to 8. Well designed for airflow, lots of opening sides - awesome tent for short and long trips. No issues so far with water leakage, edge seals… Read more
look very clean and solid. Overall, seems like solid quality but time will tell! Compact when packed, large floor space and head height, well designed with good airflow A bit more detailed to setup than some dome tents, heavy to carry for one person for any distance
Nice tent, poor durability – This tent has great ventilation, very important for australian summers. I like the huge windows and multiple entrances. I have the 4 person model, and the cross bar that creates more headroom across the width of the tent also makes it more difficult to set up than a standard igloo. I found after about 5 nights in fair weather the Velcro holding… Read more
the fly to the poles started to tear the fly.
I would still recommend it to occasional campers Good headroom, great ventilation, inexpensive Not durable, water pooled on floor in light rain
