Rust Bucket – Seems to be an inherent problem with this microwave. The roof rusted as well as the holding brackets. Rust also built up on the underside of the ceramic cover and in the evaporating flume.
Don't touch Panasonic microwaves. Rust buckets and they wont help – First rusted. They blamed me. Offered free delivery on second, which I stupidly accepted. Now it gas has rusted too. I can Remember when it was a good brand. Won’t do it again
Rusts very annoyed – So annoyed. Payed more for a microwave and the same thing happens with them all. Major rusting inside under plate and inside of the door. Will never waste money on a supposed better microwave when they all do the same thing. Rust. Show details
Terrible microwave – Worst microwave oven i ever bought,as per other people’s comment-food doesnt warm up as expected and rust started developing after a couple of years.panasonics comment is its not covered by the warranty and the reason-i wasnt cleaning the interior properly.i always maintain the interior clean and dry following their instructions so how on earth could they just possibly say that!!??? Never buy Panasonic microwaves/iNVERTERS. They are not specialist in this product – With 18 months in Use, there is sufficient rust formed and starts to drop in the food if uncovered. Heaps of flakes of rust, we can't wipe the water in the roof due to ceramic elements and a steel Protector. Luckily i had not disposed my 10 Yr Old microwave and absolutely has no rust till today and had to use it again. In the name of… Read more
technology panasonic ripped of the money and got a worst product, If they had used a stainless steel all this would have been resolved at the design stage.
Panasonic lacks technology & Innovation & fast to market is not the solution to make money on long term.
It will loose many more customers. Good luck to them if they can survive too long in the new tech Product.
Rusting Nightmare! – DO NOT PURCHASE PANASONIC INVERTER MICROWAVE Model No. NN-DS592B. Purchased at Myer Macquarie Centre, NSW and took out additional 4 year Myer Care Plan (215 202 8001) when purchased on 9 February, 2016. The microwave is rusting on the roof which is consistent with many other similar BAD reviews. Paid a total of $798 for this microwave. A lot… Read more
of money for a real 'lemon'. I contacted the claims hotline but were advised that rust and corrosion were not covered!! This is a very poorly designed microwave, it makes excessive steam that I have wiped out each time after use and even though I have taken out a Care Plan Insurance I am not given any customer statisfaction. I will never gain shop at Myers nor purchase a Panasonic product.
Perfect value for money – Achieved great results via the available keypad options like you can select the max power option which saves alot of time. The product is quite user friendly in terms of settings/features. Also the the noise level is much lower compared to the similar range of ovens. Next the design look quite sturdy and will stand still for many years. I think product for life at least 10-20 years. Show details
Compact and Useful – This microwave fits perfectly inside my small kitchen. The compact size and black colour make this model so sleek. Another plus are the reheat and steam functions which have made express cooking with microwave so easy. The two downsides would be the cost which is on the high side for a microwave and Panasonic only gives one year warranty.… Read more
Other than that, this microwave has made my life much easier with its very simple to use and auto cleaning feature.
Poor quality even worse customer relations (Panasonic Ignored Court Ruling!) – Lasted 13 months and the enamel where the door seal contacts began to bubble. Did what at the time I believed to be the right thing and advised Panasonic. Initially Panasonic claimed I had caused the problem because I had NOT wiped the area clean. I pointed out the enamel was bubbling and the soft rubber seal was undamaged. The damage was… Read more
outside the oven cavity and approximately 10cm up, the damage was on the side where the hinges are, therefore behind the door when open or closed. (No damage by putting plates or similar into the oven)
Panasonic then claimed that I had cleaned the area and scratched the surface. I referred them to the photographs I had previously supplied and pointed out there was no scratch marks and the enamel had bubbled but not yet broken.
Panasonic requested I take the oven to an authorised dealer for appraisal, which I agreed to. Several days later I was contacted by Panasonic and they claimed the report was consistent with what they had previously claimed caused the problem. Panasonic refused to say which claim, not cleaning or cleaning and I requested a copy of the report. No report was received and a further two requests for a copy was acknowledged but again no report was received. I requested a copy of the report from the Authorised repairer and they refused unless I paid a quote fee.
I refused the request for a quote fee and left the oven with them.
I then lodged a claim with ACAT (ACT Consumer Affairs Tribunal) and Panasonic did not defend the claim and as a result I was awarded the amount claimed. The necessary paperwork was sent to Panasonic and...nothing. My partner contacted Panasonic and was promised payment would be processed within a few days. Nothing was heard and my partner called several times and was given a different story each time, (never received, will be paid, no record of any request) the last straw was being told that as Panasonic was registered in NSW, they did not have to recognise a ruling from an ACT court. I contacted the NSW courts and they advised me to send the documentation to them. The NSW court processed the claim and I followed the required process and sent the claim to Panasonic (all postal correspondence to Panasonic was via registered mail). Nothing was heard from Panasonic, so after a month of waiting I was required to send the sheriff to collect the money.
I made a mistake by not taking the oven back to The Good Guys, I thought they were responsible for the initial 12 months of warranty and after that it would be Panasonic's responsibility.
Two and a half years to get my money back.
Great microwave – Microwaves well. Super handy not having the turntable. It is a fingerprint magnet. The dial to adjust time is great. Its handy for keeping food warm after a BBQ. Steam is not the strongest or anything - nothing like regular steaming on a stove. BUT it won’t last long. I had the cavity replaced 3 times in 4 years for rust. I sold it while it had a new cavity. Handy product! – I am surprised by the negative reviews on here, as I love this microwave! I actually got this one because the oven at my place cooks very unevenly and I wanted an alternative. I don't need a full sized oven in any case as I generally only cook for two meals at a time. The oven is function is really good and cooks very evenly. The only draw back… Read more
is that it does take a while to pre-heat but that's not such a big deal for me.
As a microwave, it's great - heats evenly and, while the reheat function isn't perfect, it's still pretty good. The double grill is a winner - makes cooking sausages a breeze - and the normal grill function works well. The steam function is ok (not amazing) but I didn't really expect it to be the world's best steamer.
It's very easy to clean the inside, which is great, and the self-cleaning functions work well. That said, the outside is a fingerprint magnet...keep a microfibre cloth nearby!
Overall very happy with my purchase.
Poor quality product – Poor quality product - very noisy with continuous scraping noise when in use. Biggest problem is it nukes a small area of the food which explodes all over the interior yet the rest remains stone cold. Reheating to a set temperature is very erratic. Sometimes stops while food is cold, even when set to 70C. Other times will overheat food when set to 50C. Unfortunately expensive product which does not work. Show details
Rusting Ceiling in less than 12 months – Have exactly the same problem as the other review under title " A Rusted Hulk in Less Than 18 Months", dated Aug 17, 2015. The roof top of the microwave began to rust after 12 months of use. It seems the roof material is deflective, probably due to poor quality or QC. After contacting Panasonic about the problem, instead of admitting the… Read more
deficiency, they laid the blame on the user for not cleaning the microwave after use. This is a lot of crap. It seems Panasonic has a very mean reputation for after services and replacement. We are in the process of renovating our kitchen and intend to replace all the appliances with Panasonic product. Now, Panasonic has lost one more potential customer.

A rusted hulk in less than 18 months! – Do not buy this microwave oven! After less than 18 months, the inside roof of my microwave is a mess of rust! It's unforgivable that Panasonic designed a microwave with a steam defrost feature, which can also boil water etc., yet apart from the base under the tray, they have only coated the inside walls with a thin lick of paint! Of course,… Read more
this is simply inadequate for such a moist environment, especially since the convection heating elements and caging on the roof cannot be removed for cleaning and drying.
Indeed, the paint soon degraded and the worst rust developed around the elements and cage mounts. A baked enamel coating on the entire internal surface is a must for this oven to be deemed 'fit-for-purpose'.
In addition, it takes the regular oven ages to heat up and if you open it for just a few seconds, it seems to take a similar period to return to temperature despite already being hot. This is totally unworkable.
What were Panasonic thinking? This oven is a design disgrace! My previous Sanyo microwave lasted almost 20 years, with NO rust! This one is unlikely to make 3 years.
it's a piece of crap – the tray is brittle. glass shards fly off all the time. the grill feature stews the steaks not grill. the on button is worn out after 6 months. the steam setting just wets everything and you have to clean the insides all the time after each use. it heats unevenly. what a piece of crap. I've demanded my money back.
It's not just a Microwave. It's a microwave the steams, grills, microwaves and cooks like a conventi – I feel that the biggest benefit of the Panasonic Steam Combi lies in the ability for mums to cook a variety of healthy and yummy foods quickly and easily due to the combination cooking methods it offers. You can microwave, then steam or microwave then grill. Use the oven and then finish the dish with the grill feature; all without having to change dishes, move food around or utilise more than one appliance.
The best investment – Very good machine which lives up to the standards. the machine is only 1 year old and it is the same like the day we borght it. After steaming the microwave would usually fill with water droplets everywhere but you would expect that from a steamer. the oven is always the best thing that could fit into a microwave. This was a replacement for a… Read more
1980's panasonic "the Genus" which was the best at it's time. it is slightly smaller and has less voltage but has more functions and is worth the money! Everything price
