I love my 4 in 1 steam microwave, but, is there a blog or something somewhere I can speak with other owners so we can discuss recipes we've used, chat about what to use, (oven/steam etc.) when cooking these recipes. Ideas on best ways they found to cook something. Thanks Lorraine Show reply

Cooks well but has drawbacks – Just bought this oven in October 2024, my fourth Panasonic microwave in 25 years. After reading the manual l find that it is only intended to sit on a countertop and not to be put in a cabinet. Also the control panel is very dark and hard to read, it needs to be backlit. I have always loved my Panasonics and this one does cook beautifully and works well. Show details

Constantly wet inside the microwave – Avoid this microwave unless you are keen to wipe down the whole inside after every use. The amount of condensation is extreme. Sent photos to panasonic and no help. The selection panel isn't lit up so impossible to see your desired selection. Show details

and spacious due to its turntable-less design.

The flatbed design means the entire interior of the unit can be used for cooking - place the food anywhere inside and the microwaves (or other method) will cook it. This has the additional benefit that the interior is also easier to clean.

The controls are fairly intuitive. I personally prefer a numeric keypad for entering times but am adapting to a rotary dial. Another major difference is that the door pulls down at the front rather than being hinged to the side. This does make accessing the interior a little difficult for my wife (who is not tall) when the unit is in the microwave aperture of the kitchen stack.

The unit can operate in any one of four modes.

Microwave - simple enough, it is a 1kW microwave and works well. There is an auto sensor function which appears to work based on the steam content of the cooked product - this works ok as long as the food's steam is not contained too much in a container, otherwise it can overcook a little.

Convection - the oven will happily take an average family pizza on the supplied cooking tray, which can be set at two heights and works fine. It would have been nice if two trays were supplied to be able to cook two items at once but perhaps we will simply have to a order a second one

Grill - there is a hidden grill element in the top of the oven which also appears to function well, though we have not used it often.

Steam - the unit also has a steam function. There are a couple of tanks under the front for water and drainage, enabling the over to be used to steam vegetables, fish and the like, though this was not a feature we were particularly looking for and have not used. However it does apparently make cleaning the interior much easier.

There are also a number of combinations of the above modes in which the unit can be used for even greater cooking flexibility.

The interior of the oven is pleasantly devoid of many holes or protrusions, which makes keeping it clean much easier after those accidental microwave food "explosions" which manage to lift whatever cover was over the food - a definite plus!

The two areas I would be critical of are the control knob and the door. The control knob feels VERY flimsy and wobbly, almost to the point of feeling that it will break or fall off at any minute. Given the overall build of the unit, this is a definite contrast and feels almost cheap, which the unit certainly was not.

In addition, the door being a pull down makes access a little difficult at height. I was also surprised to find that the door did not pull down far enough that the handle could rest on the work surface if the unit were on a bench rather than in a stack. There will be a temptation for people to place items on the door and this could strain the hinges - if the handle reached the surface this risk could be reduced.

Overall we are very happy with the unit. It performs well in the functions we have tested so far, is well built (except the flimsy control knob) and best of all, has managed to last longer than 28 days without failing (like the Sharp microwaves did).

or really needed, bottom line, I really wanted and needed both. Some days back, Hubby said, last chance which one do you want for the next 10 Christmas’s and 10 Birthdays, Lol, our little joke with each other. After many phone calls as we live in the Country area, I found the NN-DS59NBQPQ 27L 4-in-1 Combination Microwave Oven about an hour away, no Panasonic Stainless Steel Bread Maker to be found. Hubby said come on lets go and have a look, yeah right, if I have a look I will want it, exactly, let go have a look. Harvey Norman was the only one to have this 27L 4 in 1 Combination Microwave Oven and I love to deal with them, they really look after you. Straight back home and I was into it, no holding me back now. On went the spicy lamb chops in my large oven proof glass dish, I did a combination Microwave and Convection oven, cooked and ready in less than an hour, normally 3 hours in Convection oven. In the meantime, I made up cinnamon scroll dough and had them ready for second proof in the warm oven after the casserole, I did a steam Bake at 170 for 20 minutes, to tell you the truth, they were the best batch I have ever made, crisp on the outside and very fluffy on the inside, what a winner. In the past several days I have made up many dishes for the Freezer, a Carrot cake, a pavlova and last night we had crumbed lamb BBQ Chops which I steamed Baked, this I was very worried as we love these chops crisp on the outside, they were wonderful, so tender and juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside and no burnt spots. I love this wonderful Combination/Microwave oven what a real winner, I am very sure it will take major place in my Kitchen from now on, will also make my Air Fryer obsolete as it also has a Air Fryer program. There is only the two of us now, so the main oven will also now become obsolete, I just have to now wait 10 years to get my SD-YR2550 Stainless Steel Bread Maker, lol.

Not just a microwave – It can steam, air fry, grill and microwave. This is a great little multitasking machine for the kitchen. I've had a lot of fun using it daily over Easter holidays to bake and make dishes to feed our family of 4. I had to press for the various functions. However, I quickly found this microwave to be intuitive as the display panel tells me what to do next. The microwave has a cavernous interior. It comes with a non stick baking tray that's so easy to wipe clean. It even has nifty little add ons like a timer and built in self cleaning modes. It still does all the things a microwave does, having 1000W variable power. However, I am super impressed by how well the other functions operate, especially the combination functions. They are not just gimmicky add ons. This microwave can easily replace several appliances in the kitchen, so you save on money and space.

The only cons I've found so far, is that it has to sit on a benchtop, and cannot go into a microwave cavity. The oven still needs to warm up to get to the required temp (although a lot quicker than a regular wall oven as this is smaller). I would like to see how long this lasts with daily use, because our previous microwave served us a good 15 years.
