Disappointed. This microwave has never worked perfectly. It frequently condenses so much that puddles or water are left in the bottom. I have to air it out with desiccant (bicarb soda) at least once a week, and in between times, dry the well under the turn table with paper towels/tea towels (that are soaked afterward). And now, after just 3 -… Read more

THREE - years of ownership, the light has blown!

I also own a Chef microwave for 30 years - THREE ZERO YEARS - and even after daily use, that still works perfectly! Never condenses, never pools water, never had a blown light.

Avoid this brand for microwaves. I'll be looking to buy another Chef microwave now.

Poor quality microwave. Built cheaply, cost cutting is very evident. Had the previous Panasonic for 10 years, this one will be lucky to last 1 year. Door is light and cheap, the inside of the microwave looks like it is 10 years old (it's 6months old), the inside of the door has totally discoloured. The menu is nothing like previous models,… Read more

absolute cost cutting everywhere on it yet the RRP is still the same. I do NOT recommend to buy, get something else. Panasonic were a trusted brand, now it's all about the money so will not buy anything from Panasonic again. Avoid!

I purchased a Panasonic 32L 1100W Inverter Sensor Microwave in November 2024. Within six months, it began exhibiting intermittent faults — sometimes the auto settings (like vegetables) wouldn’t work properly, other times the light would come on but the microwave wouldn’t actually run (no sound, no rotation). After contacting Panasonic support, I… Read more

was told I needed to take the unit to a service centre in Canning Vale for assessment — a long drive from where I live. They would only cover the repair cost if the issue was confirmed as a manufacturing defect. Otherwise, I’d be out of pocket for both the assessment and repair — for a microwave that’s less than a year old.

Given the inconvenience, and that this is an intermittent issue, I’ve decided to continue using it until it dies completely — and I’ll replace it with a different brand. This is not what I expected from Panasonic. Very disappointing customer support and not worth the hassle for what should be a reliable kitchen appliance.

Edit: Panasonic contacted me after I had this post in mediation status, offering a drop off point closer to where I live, I replied asking how long the repair would take as we couldn’t be without a microwave for a long period. I didn’t get a reply for three weeks, at which point the Microwave stopped working altogether. I again posted here to Panasonic and received a phone call from Michael, he promised I would have instructions as to how to deliver the microwave that afternoon. Three days later nothing has been received. I have purchased a new Sharp microwave as a replacement and have a less than 12 month old Panasonic that looks like it may go to the tip.

A terrible product, worse customer service.

Manufacturing issue – Bought this from good guys and noticed a gap on the door at the top right corner, when using after a couple of minutes you can hear like a hissing noise or whistling noise. Took it back and the next one was exactly the same, the display model on the shelf looks perfect so definitely a manufacturing problem there. Good guys gave me a refund with no… Read more

Broken, clearly not new item – Well our Smeg microwave broke after just three years (see my other review), so I ordered this Panasonic one from Amazon. Amazon did their thing, quick payment, quicker delivery so I was pleased. Then when I unwrapped the microwave - oh no! It was clearly not new, no film over the glass or the stainless steel (which I love peeling off) and when I… Read more

tried to use it the touch buttons either needed considerable pushing to work, or didn't work at all. Oh, and it's terrible for finger marks. Not what I'd expect from a $300 microwave. So I'm back at square one microwave-wise...

Panasonic just RISTS inside – Ortho, when you buy a brand that you know and trust, and then in the microwave, rusts.

Steer clear of Panasonic – Purchased this microwave on the 8/9/2022 from Harvey Norman then just after it was five months old on the 23/2/2023 I was cooking pork crackle ( like the popcorn bags) after 1 1/2 minutes I could smell burning so stopped it only to find the bottom of the door had started melting/ burning and melted onto the lower part of the inside of the… Read more

microwave. I took it straight back to Harvey Norman to be told Panasonics policy is to have it accessed to see if it was a repair or replace, I told them I didn’t want it repaired I wanted it replaced or a refund as it was actually a fire hazard. I’m now at three weeks and after multiple useless phone calls from me to Harvey Norman and Panasonic who have continuously passed the buck from one to the other and neither of them have actually rang me at all to tell me what was happening. I’m now contacting the office of fair trading and the accc and told them I will never purchase another Panasonic of anything or return to Harvey Norman after shopping at the same shop for the past 20 years, to say I’m disappointed and angry is an understatement. Harvey Norman and Panasonics customer service is nothing more than disgusting. So while Harvey Normans electronic repairers still have my burnt microwave I’ve had to go today and purchase a new microwave an LG from good guys who WILL refund my purchase if the door melts.

I would give this one a miss – Background: I bought this microwave to replace a Panasonic NN-ST671S that started smoking (in the component area) after around six years of ownership. I did like the old one which got a lot of use, so I decided to replace it with another Panasonic, as I wanted the familiar features such as the Genius sensor, for reheating leftovers and microwaving… Read more

vegetables. As well as the inverter for defrosting meat and microwaving on lower power, which I do a lot of.

Pros: bright LED light. Silver instead of black trim around the edges. No "COOL" operation of the fans after using the microwave unlike the previous model (relevant for those who are familiar with it). Attractive enough design with the white LED display and a very shiny silver trim.

Cons: Flimsy and lightweight construction. Trim is a fingerprint magnet, no fingerprint resistance at all on this one! Large gap between the microwave door and frame which steam and condensation escapes from. Door not level with control panel frame. Door needs to be closed VERY firmly, almost slammed, which pushes the microwave back because it is so light. The door does not have locking positions (like on a car door) on its very light hinges (no firmness), unlike the previous model, it is either fully open or shut - which is pain if you want to keep it open to ventilate. Have to press control panel buttons down really hard, and the buttons have a very small pressure area in the middle of the larger printed labels. Control panel is a flimsy feeling plastic and felt like it was lifting when lifting fingers off the buttons. Whilst the last model had a similar control panel, this one was just so bad.

Very clunky to use. You have to press the "Micro Power" button each time before pressing the time buttons, even when microwaving on full power. You cannot enter the time without pressing it first, which is incredibly annoying considering how hard the buttons are to press. It has a "Quick 30" second button but you have to press Start as well. Unintuitive button combinations for other functions. I think that a fundamental aspect of a microwave should be that it is quick to operate, this one unfortunately is not. **Would not have bought this microwave at all had I known this was the case.**

Unnecessarily long and loud beeps on button presses. Does not show power level on display clearly when in use, it uses tiny symbols instead. Does not even say "Enjoy your meal" anymore. Turn table juddery and grindy when rotating. Interferes with wifi when in use. Loud but so was the last one.

Luckily I only had to use it for two weeks before it died. When using the microwave it made very loud arcing sounds. I rang Panasonic who claimed these sounds were normal, however one morning I woke up and went to use it and it was dead (no power, blank display) and stank of an electric burning smell. A merciful relief I suppose. It did not appear to cook very evenly and the power seemed temperamental between uses, but this may have been due to it being faulty. The sensor did not appear to be accurate either, overheated most things and had to be stopped manually.

If you were planning on replacing your old Panasonic with another one, then I would not recommend it. The quality of them appears to be very poor today. It did not live up to the last one at all, a total downgrade. Replaced with an LG which has impressed me and is much better, definitely an upgrade in terms of design, such as the quick to use glass touch control panel. If you don't use your microwave for defrosting or use any of the sensor functions then a conventional microwave from Kmart would probably suffice. I don't see any advantages of buying a Panasonic one at all anymore.

Quality gone downhill – After having identical one for 10 years we thought we would buy the same . How disappointing this one is . Not the same power as the original yet same watts. The build quality is well down on previous model. Weighs about 50% less . Obviously made with cheap components . Next time won't be a Panasonic. Show details

Works well but smells bad – Bought this just over 2 months ago as a replacement for the previous model that was going into our cottage. This new one is pretty well identical. We chose the Panasonic because it was faultless all these years. So it was a surprise to find that after 10 weeks it still puts out that burning electrical wire smell. It is annoying because the smell… Read more

is very strong. We had it looked at by their service agent & he said this model takes a very long time to settle down smell wise it seems. Ridiculous. Even when not operating & you open the door, it stinks. New product smell is pretty well accepted for a brief period but this long is poor manufacturing in my estimation.

Garbage - Do Not Buy – Three microwaves in five years. The original had an electrical fault that spot welded the door shut., but was replaced under warranty at eleven months. The replacement died some twenty or so months later. Foolishly I purchased the same model to fit the built in trim kit and it also gone to microwave heaven. Do not buy – Unfortunately I have had two of these. Both lasted less than 18 months and had issues with program stopping part way through. Reviewers on other sites advised that it was due to the door, whereby unless you slam the door shut each time you want to use, the program would stop part way through. The first of the two microwaves just wouldn’t… Read more

complete a program on an ad-how basis, then one day just wouldn’t run any program anymore. The replacement had the same issue (but I slammed the door shut from day 1), but within 14 months 1 minute into a 5 minute cook, the lights went out and the microwave stopped working. Does not switch on in any power socket in the house. Contacted Panasonic the first time and their customer service was not customer centric, so didn’t bother this time. Will NEVER buy Panasonic again.
