Don’t waste your money – I am used to bread making as I often make my own bread. I thought this Panasonic with fruit and nut dispenser would be a great time saver for when guests come over. I bought it on 14/4/2023 for $279. Used only intermittently (when guests over) and stored carefully. It failed 20 months later on the first week of December 2024. The bread came… Read more
out misshapen and flat. It didn’t rise. The yeast and ingredients all fresh and in date. I used the supplied measuring tools and an accurate kitchen scale for flour. I tried 4 more loaves with different settings, different flour types and recipes (from the included booklet). Abject failure. Same issue. Really disappointed. Don’t waste your money on this breadmaker. It made nice bread when working but a breadmaker should last longer than 20 months of intermittent use. Conversely, I bought a family member the KMART Breadmaker as a gift at the same time as I bought this Panasonic (at a significantly cheaper price of well under $100) and it is still working well.
Non stick coating scuffed after 4 months – I have bought this breadmaker 4 months ago and the non stick coating is scuffed from the bread falling out. There is no way to avoid the scuffing. I have treated the pan with highest possible care and it still happened. Also there is a petition in the UK about this issue and over 300 ppl have signed it. Panasonic has been unhelpful and does not… Read more
let me return my breadmaker. They offered a new pan but it will just happen again. Very unhappy! https://www.change.org/p/urge-panasonic-to-address-non-stick-coating-issue-in-breadmakers?recruiter=1315833558&recruited_by_id=28632af0-4cea-11ee-89d0-678cdd538576&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=share_for_starters_page&utm_medium=copylink
Hi Lett, I have PM you to discuss this further. Please make contact. Kind Regards. MM.
THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS – I was forced to buy a new bread maker after the one I had (Panasonic SD-2501) vibrated itself off the kitchen benchtop and smashed on the floor. Given the quality of bread it produced, I didn’t think twice about replacing it with another by the same brand. So, I purchased a Panasonic SD-R2530WST bread maker. Priced from $389 it’s like having your… Read more · 1
own fresh bakery at home. It offers fully automatic or manual baking so you can customise your results.
There are 30 automatic programs to make basic bread, brioche. cakes, pizza dough, nut bread and even jam or 3 manual settings - Cake Kneading, Bread Kneading and Rise. Plus, it offers a wide range of gluten-free programs so it’s ideal for those suffering from coeliac disease.
It has an LCD display and push button controls with a 13-hour timer for those who like to wake up in the morning with the smell of fresh bread that’s been quietly baking to be ready in time for breakfast.
The non-stick inner pan is easy to clean and allows for 3 bread sizes - M, L and XL (up to 1.1kg) and there’s a choice of 3 crust settings. Plus, in the box you’ll find 1x Sourdough Cup, 1x Measuring Spoon and 1x Sourdough Starter Spoon.
I’ve tried a few bread making machines, and this is without doubt the best and it delivers consistently good results. Panasonic says that’s because it’s powered by two sensors that track both the internal and external temperature, ensuring the cooking settings are optimised for your recipe.
Best off all, instead of the 5 hours required by the previous model, this one makes perfect bread in just 2 ½ hours. This is a 5 star product and if you shop around you can buy one for as little as $250.
Every home should have one – Perfect loaf every time. This is my second Panasonic bread maker, couldn't be happier. Some advantages are: the kneeding paddle comes out cleanly every time, it's pretty quiet, a more substantial kneeding paddle drive than the previous model( which lasted 20+ years!). The bread stays fresh for 3-4 days. I use SNK premix bread mixes. Cheap to run off solar panels. I only use the rapid bake cycle. cooks in just under 2 hrs. Show details · 1
My favourite brand – I've been using a Panasonic Breadmaker for many years. When it was time to replace it I tried a Breville but didn't like it at all and returned it, the same day buying the tried and true Panasonic - much cheaper too. I buy 5kg bread flour and measure it out into 500g plastic bags, so it's very simple to make, just add the yeast and water. My… Read more · 4
bread comes out beautifully, good shape, good colour. I stick to the basic but have made a gluten free loaf for a relative. Maybe I'll try other recipes down the track. I could have chosen a Stainless Steel model, $100 more and I can't see any advantage over the white one I bought. Update - It's now nearly a year old, behaving beautifully and making great bread. I'm making Raisin Bread too, with a bit of variation to Panasonic's recipe to suit us, and it's perfect.
Perfect loaf every time – This will be my 5th bread machine purchase. I don't have a weird addiction to the machines, I just seem to burn them out after many years of hard work. The others units have been Sunbeam and Breville, this is my first Panasonic machine but I do already know how to make bread from scratch anyway, so these machines are just a really convenient… Read more · 5
"all in one" device for me. I purchased this unit about 5 weeks ago, and have made approximately 50 loaves, easily!
So, how good is it? I'm glad you asked! Firstly, as I mentioned, I make my bread from the bare ingredients. I have never found value or success in the ready-made bread mixes. Having 3 teenagers living under the roof means that a loaf of bread gets demolished in a day. Even the cheapest bread at the supermarket cannot compete with the price of "basics" flour and a few other ingredients. And if you are lucky enough to have rooftop solar, then the actual making cost in energy is essentially, free! Maybe 90c per loaf without power costs. The included measuring spoon(s) are fantastic, I use that double ended tool every time.
For plain white bread (or mustard & herb), I always select Menu 2 (rapid), and the bread is done in about 2 hours. Perfect rise, smells delicious, cuts with ease and doesn't last 24 hours before gone. Gluten Free is a menu option, as well as sweet breads and cakes. Cakes require a little more effort, where you have to scrape down the corners with a silicone spatula to ensure perfect mix. Still, one bowl and a few utensils to clean up is a good compromise.
Cleaning the machine is simple, wipe a barely damp cloth over the outside, and below the element to get any (rarely) splashed up flour. The actual mixing pan and paddle, again, a damp cloth over both get the pan ready for the next batch.
As for what I've made: Basic bread Herb & Mustard seed bread (household favourite!) Sultana/Fruit loaf Gluten Free bread (for neighbour) Banana bread (home grown cavendish bananas, recipe from 'Bread Dad') GF Banana bread (neighbour) Chocolate cake
The recipes in the included manual are quite good. The only addition I add to these are "bread improver" (aspartic acid). I only use budget plain flour, and the large tube yeast, not the sachets as the value for money on bulk cannot be matched by the sachets. Always WEIGH your flour and water. 1g of water is 1ml, simple. Get these two correct and your bread will work out every time.
I do wish it had a "Memory" save function, that you could just keep Menu 2, M size, Light crust. I'm willing to let that slide for the money it will save me in the 5 years of extra warranty I bought with this unit :) Sorry Panasonic, this machine is getting a real hard family workout!
GO FOR IT – Have been using it for several months now. actually met my expectations and the research I Did B4 purchase. LOVE IT. Have made some award winning breads. Many "experiments" and some did not work out. I always start with Buttermilk for the liquid. at lease twice the called for butter and sugar (castor) andno salt. Why not 5 stars? I have very high expectations and hard to get 5 stars from me. Show reply

Perfect bread maker! – Had a Panasonic Bread maker for many years which always produced bread with results I had been satisfied with. However, it was approaching the end of its life with the pan non-stick coating beginning to disappear and the machine sounding louder and clunkier. When I found the Panasonic Bread maker SD-R2530 being offered at a discounted price, I… Read more · 1
felt this was the ideal moment to update.
Description The Bread Maker is offered in either white or black (I bought the black). Machine has provision for nuts and fruit to be added into the mix during the making and there is an LED (unlit) control panel on the top right of the device. This displays programming information along with what operation is currently being performed (kneading, rising etc) along with minutes before the loaf is completed. Controls are touch sensitive allowing easy wiping down if your hands are messy. Approximate dimensions are 38cm high, 38cm wide and 24cm deep. Power cord is 90cm long with no provision to wind it up when not in use. Pan is secured into device by placing it in position and locking it in place with a small clockwise movement and placing the carry handle flat. Reverse to unlock this.
There are 30 preset recipes available along with the ability to set a timer to commence mixing/baking up to 13 hours ahead. For those that require it there are four gluten-free functions for bread, cake, pizza dough and pasta, however, I am unable to comment on these as I haven’t tried any of them. It should be noted that for some reason around half of the preset recipes “lock out” the timer preventing you from setting up a loaf to be baked overnight ready for breakfast the next morning. You are, however, able to pick from three levels for how light/medium/dark you want the crust to be. Depending on the program selected you can choose from three different loaf sizes from medium, large and extra large (approx 1.1kg) When the loaf has completed baking you are alerted by a high pitched chirp which will continue at intervals for around five minutes. If you haven’t addressed it by then, it will automatically stop.
Functionality I usually bake overnight so bread is ready for breakfast the next day. The machine is quieter than my previous machine and shouldn’t disturb your sleep ...unless you are in the same room? Regarding materials used, I have a local supplier who provides premixed bread varieties meaning I’m only required to add the yeast, mix and water (in that order). I use a 450g mix which produces a suitable sized loaf (see photos) which meets my needs. This means total preparation time (from getting the machine out to leaving it) is never more than 5 minutes. I should also mention that I have now produced close to 20 loaves and not one of them has been a dud. Panasonic claims there are internal and external temperature sensors which alter the programming and ensure the best results. All I can say is if anything, the machine seems even more reliable at producing a quality loaf than my previous Panasonic bread maker. Instructions supplied are comprehensive and easy to follow (see photos below) and the whole unit is covered by a 2 year warranty. There is also a small internal battery to maintain your settings (not power the bread making process) in the event of a short power outage.
What I liked… * Quality feel * Ease of use * 2 year warranty * Quality of loaves created
What I didn’t like so much… * Not being able to set a timer on all bread settings * Probably should have bought the white model to obscure the fingerprints more than visible on the glossy black surface
Bread making just got easy – If you are looking for a bread maker that does the lot! then this is it. As I'm Gluten intolerant it's perfect. Easy to use and idiot proof just add your ingredients and enjoy! Show details · 1
