Poor at detecting pollutants, won't stay connected – This is a regretful purchase, and no surprise the product is discontinued. I bought this to replace and combine a previous (industry-leading 'W' brand) air purifier and fan in my bedroom, having a Philips 3000i unit in my lounge room. First, it is poor at detecting pollutants compared to the unit I replaced it with. Previously a release of 'wind' or the airing of clothes and bedding would rightly trigger the old unit, whereas this model just chuggs along as if nothing has happened. There has only been a few times it has ever reacted to anything. In fact, the sensing detector on my 3000i model is a small square chamber behind the back panel that is recommended to be cleaned along with the regular maintenance of the unit, however this model doesn't have one, so how can it be maintained let alone have adequate access to check the air in the room if it is hidden somewhere? When I do the required regular maintenance of vacuuming the filter, there is dust on it so that's a sign that it is doing something, but it isn't doing it well.

Secondly, it never stays connected to my WiFi. Yes everything is updated and 2.5 GHz is available to it. The unit has been restarted multiple times, as has the app been force-closed, restarted and reinstalled multiple times, in fact on two different phones. A modern technology company with interests in health should be far better than this when it comes to app development and reliability in 2024 (their HomeID app for airfryers, blenders and coffee machines is woeful too). Lucky it comes with a remote control, I guess ... or is that the reason why?

Also of note, the screen is rather bright at night and casts a blue arc-shaped glow across the ceiling, rotating slowly as the unit does, whilst the sleep mode only activates if you press the mode button on the remote control (again, give up and don't bother trying to use the app), and it doesn't deactivate once night time is over. Not very smart for "our smartest" purifier model. The speed of oscillations slow and can't be adjusted nor halted, however the degree the unit rotates around is adjustable ... however once again you need to use the app that it doesn't stay connected to.

Finally, a small point, I purchased a small stool to raise the unit up so the reach of the air coming out of the unit would improve across the room.

Very disappointed.

Purchased in at JB Hi-Fi for $549.

Hi seoidau, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about the Philips Air Performer AMF765/70. We appreciate your insights and are sorry to hear about your experience with the product.

For the issue with pollutant detection, we recommend ensuring that the air quality sensor is clean and unobstructed. Regularly vacuuming the filter, as you mentioned, is a good practice. Additionally, placing the unit in a central location can help improve its performance.

Regarding the connectivity issues, please try resetting your WiFi router and ensuring the unit is within a reasonable range of the router. Sometimes, interference from other devices can affect connectivity.

We understand your concerns about the brightness of the screen at night. Your feedback about the app and the overall functionality of the unit is valuable and will be shared with our development team for future updates/improvements.

Should you experience any further issues or have additional concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via social media @philips or @philipscare.

Thank you once again for your review.
