Still going strong – I've had this shaver for over 10 years and it's still going strong! I've only ever dry shaved but do rinse it thoroughly under a warm running water every few weeks. I've replaced the cutting blades about 5 or 6 times. It still keeps it's charge. Can't fault it. Show details · 3
Motor seized due to rust from water ingress – It lasted 5 years, so not too bad value. I'm trying my luck , waiting on a $2.20 Chinese made replacement motor off ebay... It gives a fair shave and gives long run time between charges.
Disapointed – Growing up my dad (deceased) had an early Philips electric shaver. He loved it, it was made with quality. A man now in my mid thirties thought i'd splurge on the AT890 and it worked alright for the first couple months, but now just over a year later it is ineffective at shaving my not so hairy face. Maybe I should have spent more money and… Read more
bought a higher end unit or maybe went with another brand. Its waterproof yes, and that's convenient, but it in no way matches the lasting quality that my Dad's old electric one did. I wish i had spent my money differently.

A great shaver – I got this from my wife a few years ago and it has worked great. It is easy to use and it helps to give a clean shave look. A single charge can last for a long time. It's been much better than the other shavers I've used in the past. Show reply
Easy to use – Pleased with the easy to use design. Fits my hand comfortably. Was dubious about purchasing an electric shaver as I have always used razor blades. If my wife hadn't purchased this as a gift I wouldn't know any different. A close shave and no need now for shaving creams and expensive blades so big savings as well. Very pleased with this rechargeable shaver. Show reply
modern equipment which works well to date – This is my second Philips shaver in 25 years. The old one is still going. Never replaced cutters ever although I should have. Still getting used to the aqua touch. Show reply

It is no longer waterproof!! – Bad promise of waterproof. Somehow my Phillips gets damaged for second time and it's seen water inside when repairing. The first, they change the motor and the second, they change the board. All because it gets wet inside. The "aquatouch" is no longer usable for shaving with water.

Problems – My fathers Aqua Touch shaver keeps stopping mid shave and the lock symbol lights up this happens even though it is fully charged. It is 5 mths old and I am not sure what's wrong with it? Please help as I can't find anywhere what the lock means.

Not Impressed – This is my 2nd philips shaved.I had a phili shave that for 10+ years only put one set of replacement blades in it. It finally died one day. I think I'm on about the 10th shave and the blades are stuffed. Little metal bits are rubbing against the guards. Considering going back to a razor as my shaves are not as close and I cannot get all the hairs. Not what I expected also I have found I am getting more and more in grown hairs....

Alternative Truths seems to be the truth – Bought the AT890 in Jan 2016 on special at Myer $79 down from $199. Never shaved as well as the old corded Philips I had for years. It died in August 2016 so took it back to Myer. The only one they could find was 400km away at their Pt Maquarie store so they brought it down and gave me the replacement. Good work Myer! Now the replacement has died… Read more
7 months later. Myer has since closed in our town so rang Philips Customer Support. The support person said they were a very popular model with very few problems and they are still available. Come to this review site and the first thing I see is "this product has been discontinued".
Alternative truths ..... and the Dept of Consumer Affairs is a waste of time ..... and I have used Philips for over 35 years but never again.

Phillips Aquatouch AT 750 – Charges runs & feels like a good shaver but it can't shave nearly as closely as my old Phillips also made in China. After 3 months of trying it's a waste of time trying to get it to give a decent shave. In my opinion its a product that is not fit for its purpose. I have written to Phillips about it so it will be interesting to hear what they say.

Don't waste your time or money with Philips – Well I've been using Phillips for longer than I can remember and was an advocate of their old Philishave units which were great products, I got 10 years out of the first unit and only replaced it because of the charging cable having perished and the rechargable batteries would no longer hold their charge which is fair enough for 10 years of use. … Read more
The new Aquatouch range is absolute rubbish!!! Its a disgrace that Philips even try to defend these products. I am on MY THIRD REPLACEMENT UNIT IN 2 YEARS AND NOW THIS ONE IS FAULTY AS WELL!
I sense a complaint to the ACCC looming as Philips is clearly KNOWINGLY selling goods that are not fit for purpose, shame on you Philips. You and your bean counters and cost cutters have destroyed what was once a good brand.
I'm currently considering my options and researching other brands, I suggest ayone reading this give Philips a wide berth.

Philips Aquatouch – The same is happening with mine! At first there was no problem at all, but now it simply won't go on before several attempts. I have always bought Philips, but I am considering a change... maybe to Remington.

Stopped working three days after out of warranty – I bought a Philip Aquatouch shaver 8th September 2014. Worked ok, except got a bit flakey September 2016. On 11th September 2016 wouldn't turn on, and has not turned on since. Multimeter shows it is fully charged. Warranty on the product was two years, this failed three days later. Not happy. Contacted Philips to asked if this was normal, got an auto-acknowledgement but not other reply.

I had a philips speed X L – I had a Philips speed X L, which gave me a good shave for many years, but I find the Aqua Touch, slow and not such a close shave. I notice the H Q 9 head has more holes then the S H 50, may go back to Braun. The design seems good, no water can enter the motor.

The first one failed in 2 years the second failed in 15 months – I bought the first AT890 shaver from BigW (Melbourne Australia) and it did a good job for about 2 years. After that It stopped charging and completely stopped working. I did not bother about going back to BigW and returning it so that I threw it away. began to work intermittently just after 15 months. This time I returned it to GoodGuys and they happily replaced it. Now this is my 3rd AT890 (pretty sure that this also will fail soon). As an experienced user of AT890, I would say that this model has serious design flaws, after some time water leaks into the circuit and then its all over. Sorry, I cannot recommend this to anyone.

I wouldn't bother trying any other brand! – For the past 20 years, I've only used rechargable Phillips shavers...changed the rotary blades a few times, ..The first shaver battery packed it in,...the second just kept going until I upgraded to the HQ7320/B...It has served me well, but the on/off switch has perished, so it's time to upgrade again..The AquaTouchAT890/17 is the brother to my old Phillips, and I know it will do the job!..4 Shavers in 20 years speaks for itself! Good for 2 years but then – Good for the first 2 years then one day it started all by itself. After turning it off it never worked again. I took it back but they said it was not possible to repair and I should buy a new one.
lovely refreshing clean shave – very impressed, purchased the aqua touch plus AT890 at big w, was surprised how refreshing the shave was. the tap afterwards,
I've had the shaver just over a month and recently did the monthly maintenance of removing, cleaning and reassembling the blades, i did them one at a time, so as not to get them mixed up, takes about 15 mins,
the shaver charges in one hour, and i've been using the shaver for a fortnight and then recharging before the battery runs flat,
very impressed, just hope it lasts a long time, with registering online, the guarantee is for three years, and you have to buy new blades after two years,
had this shaver two weeks! utter crap, have to use a razor after using the electric 890 shaver. good – had this shaver two weeks! utter crap, have to use a normal hand razor after using the electric 890 shaver. good money wasted! Would not recommend.

Good for 2 years, but – I purchased an AT890 from the Shaver Shop on 28/12/12 and used it for 2 years and was quite satisfied with its performance. I took it back to the Shaver Shop at Karrinyup & enquired about a new battery or replacement but they were not very helpful.

How can you call this a 'shaver'?: total con! – First ever Philips product (I'm 23) and definitely my last ever. I don't know how companies can get away with selling junk like this - it barely even works as advertised, leaving tufts of hair or single hairs untouched that just don't go away no matter what angle you approach them. Nobody truly expects as close a shave from an electric shaver as… Read more
from a blade, but this is something else entirely. It's completely unreliable and the results are uneven, requiring a second pass with a razor which entirely defeats the purpose.
I was given this as a Christmas gift, and my mum isn't the wealthiest lady, so I hate that she's spent so much on something that is utterly worthless. I can't bring myself to simply relegate it to the bottom drawer, never to be seen again. Going to try for a refund under NSW Consumer Goods Guarantee - this product is barely even 'fit for purpose' as a shaver. Shame on you, Philips. What a con.

Do not buy water leaks into internal circuit – I used AT890 for two years with out any issue. Suddenly it stopped recharging and I opened the shaver to see what was happening. Water was all over and stagnant. Water had leaked into the internal circuit. I do not recommend this product at all. Replacement shaver head are very expensive too.

Garbage – This shaver always starts out great then after six months - boom, something goes wrong, at least the three I had did. The switches seem to fail, or moisture affects them somehow. Years ago Philishaves were sensational, now I think they're rubbish. They still shave well, but they don't last. My suggestion - Braun.

Very happy with it - using it a lot! – This shaver seems to have found the solution to the age old problem - how to get the hairs to go into the holes. I had the old style 1 head foil electric shaver (Braun) and it was good, but this AquaTouch AT890 is much better. It took a little getting used to, didn't feel right at first, but the results are excellent. I used to use the 4-blade… Read more
razor most of the time and rarely used the old foil shaver. Two months later I use it most of the time, and only sometimes the 4-blade razor, in the shower.
More details: Have only used it dry, haven't tried it wet. I'm 58. Very efficient and fast at shaving. Light, ergonomically designed. Good value.
Far superior to foil shavers – I'd been put off before by the bulkiness of Philips rotaries, but now I'll never go back to the Brauns I used to use before buying this. My hairs seem to grow increasingly flat to the skin as I get older, and my Braun kept missing them. This Philips is also far, far quieter, and made in the Netherlands, not China.
