Piece of junk – This shaver will not give you anywhere near a decent shave. It will clog up with hair after a couple uses and you will never get it properly cleaned again. Can not believe this product got past testing and quality control depts.

Great shaver – I must be the only person who likes it. I have had it for 7years now. The old shaver head lasted me 4-5yrs but I've only just replaced it with a RQ12 replacement shaver head. I like this product and it has been a better product than my old shaver. Battery life lasts too but the indicators seem to always give false information. Overall, i'm still happy with it and will continue to use it till it dies. :)  Show reply

Looks good, shaves ok but reliant on the seperate charger/cleaner unit – probably not a good idea to be reliant on a seperate unit to clean/charge. This has now failed and I am left with a shaver I cannot charge

What's happen Philips – Sorry to say it's really bad razor it's almost impossible to use. Have tried a couple of times over the year to use. It puts a bad taste in a quality brand.

Very disapointed with this shaver – I have been using Philips shavers for the last 40 years and have always been happy with them..Until now, this is the worst Philips shaver I have owned and I am sorry that we spend all this money on it.

Good upgrade to the Philips Arcitec – It seems to do a better shaving job than the Arcitec, but not a huge amount better. The motor is quieter (but it may be just because it's new; time will tell). I got the model without the cleaning machine in the hope that the SensoTouch 1250 fits in the one from the Arcitec. It doesn't as it's a different shape. Oh well, it saves on buying… Read more ·  3

cleaning fluid! I'm keen to try using it with shaving cream. Flexing head. Quiet motor. Quick charge. The recommended shaving action is not that easy! The trimming attachment is not included. The pouch does not fit the shaver and charger.

Terrible – Like most other reviews - just a terrible shaver, takes an hour to shave anything more than a 2 day growth. For people with light growth only. Thankfully I only paid half price, but still annoying. Thought it would be better than the Aqua Touch razer which I previously had, wasn't even better than the $80 cheaper I had when I was 17. That phillips are actually allowed to sell this to consumers

Many cheap shavers are WAY better than this Arcitec the most expensive and worst I've ever bought – Never felt like a clean shave .... Had to use so much pressure that it made my skin sore and yet still not smooth it also occasionally locked ? Usually when I was away for a weekend and the only way to unlock was to place in the charger why would you take a charger away for 2 nights I received a free pair of headphones with this purchase , they actually work fine Basically it does nt work .... It's a shaver that does nt shave

Terrrible, Terrible razor – Need to shave every day as the razor will not pick up longer hairs. Again will not work if you miss shaving for a day....this is my third Philips razor and it is a $500+ disappointment. I am back to using the 7yr old mains powered philips razor as it actually works. Long Battery Life Doesn't work very well

Terrible – A load of [censored word removed]. Flash design, but performance/quality deserves a negative rating. I canNOT believe this design/technology made it onto the shelves. Forking out so much money I feel conned. I had placed Philips in such high regard for shavers. I know some of their other shaver models are supposedly good, but in a few weeks time… Read more

and I go out to buy another one to replace the Arcitec, it won't be a Philips, because to let something like this get through past the design phase onto the market and at such a high price, has, well and truely sunken the high opinion I once had of Philips. I had an older model Philips for 15+ years and decided to upgrade. I was immediately drawn to the design which I thought looked cool. And believe that the high price tag meant quality as well ...but how so wrong! I really hate this product! I can confidently say I have not bought a worse product (any product) in all my life. It really struggles to cut anything except for the shortest of growth and then I have to go over the same area 3-4 times. Anything over a day old, forget it. The neck area, forget it.

Very disappointing – This shaver does not do what it claims to do.very expensive.Irritate around the neck, can't cut long hair and takes numerous passes to get anything close to a decent shave.i am thinking to try to replace the cutting head with a new one(RQ12) from the new Senso Touch 3D.i found that the new RQ12 head fits the Arcitec series shavers(RQ10 head) and i… Read more

Terrible – Don't buy it. Look elsewhere. It delivers about two out of ten on what it promises in advertising. A rip off. Now that I've bought and used it - nothing. What a rip off! I paid a lot of money for this shaver and for all the rubbish about contour shaving etc it shaves really badly - particularly on the neck. I think Philips should be prosecuted for deceptive advertising

Terrible shaver - look elsewhere – Only cuts very short hair. Anything more than 1 day it can't cut - I have to use the (tiny) beard trimmer every day to get an acceptable result. If I leave it for more than a weekend, I have to wet-shave because this shaver just can't cut it. Long battery life Irritates, can't cut long hair, takes numerous passes to get anthing close to a decent shave

Battery is a custom design and Philips won't service it out of warranty – Was browsing the web looking for a possible battery solution to my dead battery RQ1050 shaver (3 yrs. old), found this website and felt compelled to pass along this bit of info as it is a relatively expensive electric shaver. Philips will not service a dead battery once this thing is out of warranty. It's a custom battery and the advice from their… Read more

Terrible – Poor shaving capability. Expensive original outlay and expensive ongoing costs. If you like a poor quality shave and have money to burn then this is the product for you. Looks good. Bad – Feels like a toy and only shaves marginally better than one. I talked my Dad into buying this shaver for himself. He hated it so I bought him another one and took this one for myself. This shaver is bad enough to convince me to look for another brand. It confounds me that Philips engineers sacrificed a good shave for a great design. My old Philips… Read more

Terrible – Disaster!!!! The company should recall the product. thing to replace his twenty year old Phillips shaver. I thought the brand might still be a performer. Obviouly the company now have a better marketing team than technical experts who can design and build the product. It can't be cleaned. It is useless.

Terrible – Disappointed with the reliablity of the head, I expect it to last a bit longer than a year. My previous Philishave, a MS950, is still going strong after more than 20 years (only replaced NiCad batteries a few times). Lightweight & good for travelling. Battery lift is good (usually at least a couple of months). Shaving time is a lot longer than… Read more

my previous Philishave (a MS950 of more than 20 years). Pivot head failed after 9 months - internal springs broke on 2 of the heads resulting in gearing not meshing (entire shaver was replaced on the spot at DJs).

Terrible – I was extremely disappointed with this shaver. All of my previous five Philips shavers did a far better job than the Arcitec model. I wish I had the opportunity to have trialled this shaver before buying it as it was so expensive compared to other brands/models. I have since purchased a Philips HQ8170 for a similar price and am perfectly happy… Read more

with this one. Looks great - futuristic. Lightweight & compact for traveling. Battery life & charge time were good. Easy to clean as it can be rinsed under running water. This shaver does not do what it claims to do. Feels very flimsy & is awkward to hold as it is not a contoured design like previous Philips shavers. The concave floating head design does not work as well as my previous Philishave with convex heads - especially when attempting to shave the under chin/neck area. The shape & design of this shaver makes it very easy to slip out of you hand whilst shaving.

Bad – Very average shaver for the premium price tag. Hi cost and high maintenance costs. Not a great shave either as you'd expect witht eh initial cost. Wouldn't recommend to anyone Light, quick charge that lasts a long time Relatively good shave when new, although doesn't do well around the neck at all. Also, head wears to blunt in about 9months ($70 replacement on line)

Bad – Overall - I really like this in my bathroom, though I'm not sure if it's just for the look of it or for the way it works. It needs to work quicker, and be a little more robust, to get more votes from me. The look of this shaver is - well - cool. It stands out - and I love it for that. It feels good to hold making the shave a comfortable… Read more

experience. I have quite fast growing facial hair but even still the battery can last a few weeks of daily shaving so I can basically put the stand away. The stand itself falls over fairly easily, especially when you're not really looking at it - just vaguely flailing around to find the shaver's home. The head of the shaver is as flimsy as it looks - the head has come off a couple of times, although it's just snapped back on each time, so maybe it's a feature. It doesn't handle my 2-3 day growth very well at all, but it's fine for normally daily growth. It does take a little while - I tend to fine tune the shave with a quick run over with a Gillette Fusion

Terrible – Worst shaver Philips has brought out in recent time. Got rid of my old Philishave after $100 trade in offer. Should have kept the old (10yr) unit! Liked the battery performance. Shaved well for about 2-3 months, after that period, performance degraded, have been advised that it needs a new head, approx $100-125. Not real good if I have to buy a… Read more

Terrible – Very poor razor for the money I spent. The head assembly needs redesigning to allow it to be pulled apart for manual cleaning and replacement heads need to be much cheaper. apart easily. I've found that the blades choke up with long hairs which form into a tight band and cannot be washed away. Against the manufacturer's recommendation it is possible to pull the head apart to manually clean it but it is very time consuming and fiddly.

The second thing I don't like is that I need a new head assembly after only using the razor for five months as holes have appeared in the heads which stops the blades from spinning and makes the razor completely unusable. The cost of a new cutting head assembly is prohibitive and I intend to buy another brand of razor and putting this one away until the price of the head assembly comes down to something reasonable.

Terrible – Very disappointed. Had a Ronson before that was 10 years old then a "hand me down" Phillips from my Father. This Phillips is hopeless. OK – I changed from linear to rotary and found my skin got more irritated. Perhaps this would be a good shaver for someone who has always used a rotary, but for the $380 paid, I'm disappointed. Only bought it becasue of 60 trial, and I'll be sending back Holds charge well, very easy to clean, good travel case Very slow shave, hard to get around neck properly, and gave me a rash on my neck

Good – A nice shaver in comparison, having used a couple of Panasonic linear (Wet/Dry) for about 10 years! Not as 'solid' or bulky to hold, although in time this may prove to be an advantage. Considered the Brauns and Remingtons but they have shave heads similar to the Panasonic Linears. The Linear was good but does not provide a close enough shave. … Read more

What got me sold was the $100 rebate for your old shaver (June 2008 only). I travel overseas for a couple of weeks at a time and so a long charge hold is a must. The ease of cleaning (just hot water!) is great. Long charge hold, storage 'pod' for travel, nice smooth shave Feels a bit flimsy with the flex pivot until you get used to it

Bad – Very disappointing - I wish I could have tried this shaver before buying it. A very expensive failure. It is no better than previous models. It's lightweight and charges fairly quickly. It doesn't do what it is supposed to, ie, provide a close, simple and quick shave. I have a tough beard but have had to go over the same area many times to get a… Read more

decent shave. I think this is due to the holes in the shaver's foils being too fine - it has a whittling effect rather than a cutting one. I'm also not sold on the concave design - the previous Philips with the convex seemed better, and was much cheaper. I think Philips is on the right track with the floating head idea, but has missed the boat with other important aspects. Also, it is ridiculously expensive.
