Good for occasional use – This breast pump is good if you are not expressing multiple times a day. I prefer manual over electric as I can do at my own pace and is not expensive. But too much of manual expressing is so tiring. It is portable. Mine had a squeaky noise each time I press which makes it difficult to use in the room when baby sleeps.  Show reply

Great pump – I loved my manual great pump. Easy to use and easy to clean. I didn't need to use often-but on the occasions I did it was great. Was comfortable and reasonably priced. I would recommend to get a electric pump for anyone wanting to do it more than weekly but I managed with this one.  Show reply

Hard to work out – Bought it for my daughter for her first baby in May. Took us a while to work it out as we took the plug out thinking the milk would not get through. Once we worked it out she was able to express without much trouble. She said it felt soft and not uncomfortable. I will be buying another one soon as other daughter is having a baby  Show reply

just OK – bought two years ago, only used a few times. first two or three times was ok to use, although couldn't get as much milk out as the electric pump l used when l was at hospital, but still was quite acceptable. but after using it for few times l found it getting harder and harder to pump milk out, so l ended up buying another electric one and it was mch much better and much much more convenient. not recommend

Absolutely useless!!!! – I don't know if my pump is faulty or it's just has been designed to not work and waste my time. It squeaks a lot, can get some flow and it stops. I have to take it away and replace it again and again and again and have to do this all the time. It seems there is a problem with its suction. After 40 mins if I'm lucky I can get 40 ml from both… Read more

breasts. I can get more milk if I use my hand only!!!

I heard from one of my friend she had the same problem and couldn't use it at all.

The only good thing about this pump is it's easy to clean.

Would you please stop making and selling these useless pumps!!!

Easy to use, tricky to clean – I found this pump very time intensive to use for both pumping and cleaning. A fair few pieces to take apart and clean between each use took up time I needed with a newborn. I used this one for for three months before switching. The pump itself functions pretty much as expected - you have to pump it constantly to maintain flow and make sure the… Read more

seal around your breast stays in place. A little awkward to hold after a while and make my arm sore. Not bad for a manual pump but has absolutely nothing on an electric one.

It does the job if you can't afford an electric pump – When my ds was a baby I used the pump quite a bit as my boobs were not being drained properly it is comfortable enough to use and I was able to express enough to store milk in the freezer however my little one wouldn't take any bottles. Overall I reccomend the pump as it's cheaper then an electric and it does the same job probably a little more time consuming and effort need to be applied. Easy to clean. Show details ·  1

just OK – not very recommended if you need to pump out a big volume or frequently, it will not give you what you expected but only very sore hands. choose the electronic one, it is more expensive but also more effective. Show details

I like it – This worked well for me. Comfortable and got a decent amount out. It did squeak though. I think to get a good amount out you have to trigger a let down. Also i removed the comfort pad. Good price and good packaging too. I would recommend it for using it on the go, its not meant for full time use.  Show reply

Great product gets the job done – This products works really well gets the job done. Typically I need to pump for about 30 mins and then my nipples will hurt or my hand starts to hurt from pumping. The brand is really good if I had the money I would have brought their electric version. It’s really quick and easy to clean and fast to set up and go. I will keep using it until no longer needed because it’s simple and easy to use.

Hard on hand – It is easy to use but hands got tired after a few pump, easy to clean. Would recommend it to infrequent user but not regular user. Price is little bit to high. I can use hands to pump almost have the same amount as this manual pump. Overall it is not a bad product.

Very useful and recommended – Have used this pump for both my daughters. Very easy to assemble and clean. It does make a squeeky sound that disturbs hubby at nights and is time consuming but that is just like any other manual pump. Overall I think it does its job well and I would surely recommend it  Show reply

So frustrating and not effective at all! – I purchased this to have on the go when out of the house. I spent a total of five minutes trying to find a way to make it work without feeling like it was ripping my nipples off. No one should fear for the safety of their nipples when using a breastpump. Never again!

Don't bother – What a waste of money, not only does it not work properly, it's expensive. Poor design means the bottle that attaches to the bottom constantly comes loose, no matter how hard you try to tighten. I guess at least it's comfortable to wear while you're pumping and not getting much milk that you will then spill because of the loose bottle.

So comfortable and efficient – My first encounter with a breast pump was the highly rated Spectra S2 and it would take me 40 mins to 1.5 hours to empty each side. I thought this was just normal for me and that my boobs just took longer to empty. I was dreading each pumping session more and more so. I purchased this Phillips Avent for travel and wow it was a life changer! It was… Read more ·  1

firstly very comfortable and I could lie back a little to pump and secondly it only took 5-10 mins to empty each side!! Wow amazing so I realised it wasn’t my boots but my lack of compatibly with the spectra. I haven’t looked back and absolutely love this pump and it is so portable too, I can pump anywhere.

Amazing! Well worth the money – I had the tommee tippee electric pump and was so disappointed with it as hardly any milk was expressed. So I purchased the avent manual pump to give it a go. Wow! It is easy to clean and assemble and allows for quick expressing. I use it around 7 times a day and its so comfortable, no pain. I have no complaints!  Show reply

So easy – This was such an easy breast pump to use As a new mum being a bit lost as to what I was doing it was great to find a pump that was easy to use and at a reasonable price. It was so easy to clean. I would strongly recommend this product.  Show reply

Excellent purchase – My wife had never owned a pump before and we were hesitant to buy a manual one but it was the huge price difference that swayed us this way. The first time she used it we knew we'd made the right choice :) She expresses when she's feeding on the other side and it works like a dream. Very easy to clean and put back together. Highly recommend.  Show reply

Very Good – I used this manual pump when i was weaning baby to bottle. Very easy to use, clean and sterilise. It did occasionally make a squeaky noise. Love how the milk storage cups and bottles fit onto the pump. Sometimes wouldn't pump properly but it was because i wasn't holding it correctly.  Show reply

A struggle every day – It's great for the first few secs, but keeps on loosing suction. I sit forever to get 20ml out and then have to hand express the rest. Great pump, but personally I am frustrated. It might be that it works better on bigger breasts. Is there any advise I can try?

the hospital. I have never been able to breast feed due to some issues, and electric pumps wouldn't work and both were excruciatingly painful to do/use. I purchased this on my way home from the hospital, after being frustrated with their electric pumps and It was amazing! the least amount of pain ever, I still had a little but thats because of me not the pump, I love that once you get your let down you can create suction and then the milk just keeps flowing out without constant pumping, it really isn't much effort with your hands at all. I used mine exclusively for 2 months, every 3 hours, and other then becoming a little squeaky after awhile it still worked as it did new.

Wish i had purchased one with my other children, It would have taken a lot of stress off me and a lot of pressure.

Great cheap manual option – Loved this Phillips manual breast pump I found it so easy and comfortable to use. It's very easy to clean and so compact it's easy to take out with you anywhere. Great for boosting supply if you use at the same time everyday. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who can't afford the more expensive and larger electric version.  Show reply

Better than the other – I used it for my second baby. I felt a bit expensive compare to other(nature to closer), which I used for my first baby. But I think it's worth for paying extra. It worked 100% better than the other. Also, it perfectly fit with 4L food container I bought at Target to keep been sterilised, which was handy for me, no need to buy special bucket.  Show reply

Excellent product, easy to wash – Comfortable to use, gentle on your sensitive breastfeeding nipples. Very easy to pull apart and wash. Durable plastic that doesn't buckle or become misshapen after being in boiling water regularly. I also found the suction cap was of a very high quality that stayed attached throughout the pumping process. I highly recommend this pump having used it twice daily with both of my children.  Show reply

Absolutely love this pump – Very comfortable to use. Very easily cleaned and comes with a sterilizing tube. I would definitely you this pump over and over again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to express. You can also buy separate attachments and express easily into a breast milk storage bag which you can use to feed straight away or store without spillage  Show reply

An everyday mother’s review on the Avent manual breast pump – Really like this breast pump. I have had a good experience with it. It's 5 parts. Easy to clean, take apart and put together. I haven't experienced it leaking as I had with other breast pumps i've tried. I use it to express about 1 or 2 times a day to have some stored in the freezer and I'm usually able to express a 125ml bottle. A little tip: I'm… Read more ·  1

Works well! But – This is the first pump that I purchased. Unfortunately I started with very low supply of breast milk and my nipples are flat. When I tried using the pump the first time around, it didn't suck and i felt like it was a useless purchase. I eventually learned how to develop my milk supply. I also brought the medela pisa as my main pump at home. … Read more

Yes i use that at home because it takes a while for me to set it up at work.

I now use the avent comfort manual pump at work because it is much more handy to use. No hassle of setting it up. I am a nurse and most of the time i have to keep moving around. No time to set up an electronic pump. I can pump 2x for 10-20 mins in an 8-hour shift. That way my breasts can get enough stimulation. Sometimes i can also pump 3-4x because it's very portable and easy to bring with me. It's a grab and go pump. It was not easy to use at first but you have to learn how to use it and develop a relationship with it to use it successfully. In a shift i can pump at most 10-12ozs.

My only complaint is that sometimes the bottle becomes lose. It does not screw tightly with the pump and handle and it becomes frustrating trying to hold and pump making sure the bottle does not fall off while pumping. Sometimes it seals on tight, sometimes it's lose. Plus, you really have to transfer the milk after pumping because it leaks on the sides of the bottle if it topples or is placed/kept unbalanced with the milk still in it. Lastly, the cover around the breast shield also keeps falling off, making it difficult to keep the pump clean and uncontaminated.

I rate this product as 3 beacause it does work well once you learn how to use it. I just wish the bottle and the cover would not fall off and the milk would not leak.

Fantastic product for Mothers with good milk supply!! – I love my Avent Manual Pump. The manual suits my needs as I have very good milk supply. I have found that I can pump with ease just as good as the electric versions utilised within the Hospitals. If you are using the correct technique it is also completely silent. I am really pleased I bought this product and would recommend this to other mothers :-)))  Show reply

Annoying sound when pumping – The Avent breast pump works well for me, but there is an annoying sound that comes when I use it which isn't the usual sound you get during the pumping action. It's very loud, creaky and puts me off most of the time. It isn't there all the time, comes and goes, but is there most of the time. I suspect it's a problem with this particular unit, but… Read more ·  1
