Why the secrecy? – The air fryer has a number of 'Smart Chef' settings which automatically set the temperature and time for the relevant foods. However neither the written documentation not the display will tell you what those settings are. So if I use 'Smart Chef' I don't know when the cooking will end to coordinate it with other foods I might be preparing. Also if… Read more · 1
I'm cooking more than one food in the air fryer I don't know if the temperature and timing are appropriate for the second food. Why the secrecy? Also the 'Smart Chef' programs have a 'Shake' feature to alert you to flip or shake the food being cooked. It would be great if I could set that feature when entering custom settings but I cannot. Would if be that hard to add that ability? Only used the air fryer twice so far but it seems fine otherwise.
Average, small space, not heating very evenly, hard to clean the top inside – Bought brand new in 2020 from Myer, hard to clean the top inside. The oil grease stain inside the top after cooking is hard to reach for cleaning. The metal edge of the heating component is a bit sharp and hurt my finger a few time when wiping after cooking. Quite small space and heat not very evenly if layers of food in the basket. Take a big more time to cook both sides crispy. Can be smoky if cooking certain oily food. Show details
Do not buy this air fryer it should of been a recall it WILL fall apart – My wife has been burnt twice when she has taken the draw out it just falls apart and the hot draw falls to the floor with HOT oil in it and you are left holding the basket ,I have sent Philips a Email but they didn’t have the decency to get back to me Show details

So Much Regret – Very disappointed with the design from the first moment as it seemed obviously meant to not last long. 1. The basket didn't even line up straight with the rest of the machine when inserted. 2. The food basket design is cheap, unnecessarily makes it difficult to clean, and also sharp, ripping up the sponge when cleaning. 3. The heating element… Read more
area is also impossible to clean unless you disassemble the entire thing, but that's near impossible too (Philips, don't send me your useless cleaning video; every comment on there shows it's not possible). 4. People who've had their air fryer longer talk about the baked on grease eventually causing smoke, and I'm worried to use mine again.
Can't believe I spent this much money on such a disappointing product. I wish I could get a refund.

Way better then expected – The Phillips airfryer was much better the expected . Cooking time less then half the cooking time then what the oven would do. ( which I didn’t need think would be the case )Chips and kids fav like chicken treats cooked in well under 10 minutes and cooked to perfection .the biggest surprise was how even and Crip the food was. I have to say the… Read more
best thing so far to have Cooked is pork belly ... absolutely flawless crispy crackle with juicy meat . I am always the cook of my house but this airfryer is so easy to use even my 9 years old and husband can use it with ease , the cleaning is simple too just rinse and hand wash the basket /draw and your done . . 11/10 for this Airfryer
Multifunctional time saver! – The healthier way to fry! Absolutely loving the diversity of my sleek Philips Airfryer. Not only does it fry but it also bakes, grills and roasts by circulating hot air, with little or no oil required at all. The removable non-stick drawer is easy to use and dishwasher safe, as is the food basket. Cleaning is simple and fast. A gentle wipe… Read more
down and you’re done!
‘Rapid Air Technology’ circulates hot air with speed and precision, ensuring air has an even distribution and food is cooked evenly. This sure beats the inconsistency of stoves and ovens!
Plus, my favourite part, it saves the house smelling of fried oil like traditional fryers.
Due to ease of use and simplicity, my teen sons can make their own foods safely and with little effort. The addition of our new airfryer has been a real hit!
One particularly fantastic feature is the retractable cord. (We all know how frustrating cords can be, especially when you have multiple appliances!). Brilliant extra on this already phenomenal product.
Food has been evenly cooked - perfect temperature throughout and crispy in all the right places.
The only drawback is that it’s quite noisy but for everything else it does, I can live with a bit of extra sound while it’s in use.
Life changing! – We have found the philips air fryer very handy. It is quick & reliable providing even heating & cooking of foods in the basket. The use of no oils gives the added benefit of foods not leaving you feeling queasy from too much oil. We found food to come out crunchy on the outside while moist, soft & fluffy on the inside. The flavour was retained… Read more
from the 1st bite to the last. Any Seasoning on the foods were not washed off by oil & remained on the food giving it a flavour hit! The versatility on range of cooking is highly commendable. Baking, frying, grilling & more! The ability to set foods cooking & be able to cook other dish elements or deal with a child while not having to worry about the air fryer or oil becoming a danger is very family smart. A tip for cleaning is to use a clean nail brush to scrub the basket The only cons or design suggestions for improvement or review we could pin point are: Removable mesh base from basket for easier cleaning Fan is abit noisy Ability to turn the dial to stop the timer or a timer reset button taking it back to zero Self retracting cord More temperature markings to pin point on dial the actual temperature being used

I use this puppy every day – I am pretty happy with this air fryer. I find it very easy to use (it's got two dials, no engineering degree required) and it does a really good, even cook. In terms of cleaning, I find it easier than the previous one, the "cage bit" can be a bit hard but the element is very easy. I chose this one because it's pretty compact and I don't have… Read more · 1
much bench space but I would buy a bigger one next time. Does AMAZING roasts and the best pork belly I ever had.
Biggest issues are that it's too small to do a full meal - perfect for a small family but if you had more than one kid, you'd need a bigger one. Also, when it's really hot, like it's been on 200 degrees for 20+ minutes, I find it's hard to "clip it back in". The plastic outer shell seems to get a bit warped during the peak of hot cooking, so when you slide it back in after turning food, it sometimes doesn't find its place and you have to muck about a bit to get it to sit right.
But compared to hours in front of an oven, this is a minor problem.
We had a more expensive version previously and it was fine, slightly bigger... but not much bigger than this one - so I would call this one better value for money.
HD9216/91 (White) – I would give it a 3.5 stars, due to the 'international' instructions which are very basic diagrams. Don't expect recipe books here, there's none. The recycled paper guide for cooking times is a joke. The cooker is my very first experience with an air fryer, and I was looking for a cheaper one around $50 - 80 area. Due to the current Covid, there… Read more
is little stock to choose from, so I ended up with this one for BIG W on discount price of $170 from $190. It was it or nothing but wait for more stock from China, which has now arrived in the lower price ranges and look the same. A similar capacity unit is now available for $49 normal price from the local Woolworths currently.
Even with the Philips name, it is not worth that price as the construction is basic generic. The body is made from the cheaper ABS plastic that disintegrates over time and I expect this unit is no different. It is worth noting that it has a quoted capacity of 800 grams and I guess that may be around 1.5 litre's.
As to performance, it does what is said on the box. The negatives come down to 3 points. One is the constant drone of the fan; it is similar to a vacuum cleaner level.
The other is the grille mesh used a the floor of the removable pot. This stainless steel metal mesh is like a cheese cutter sharp. It rips into the sink sponge and dislikes the nylon fingers of the sink pot brush. I brush with the grain of the grille rather than circular motion. The works best. Best to let things soak first tom soften things up before cleaning.
The last is the weight and size, its bulky and heavy. It really wants to live on a benchtop, not picked up and put in a lower cupboard constantly as you will be using the unit often initially testing things in it. Those cheap shop donuts reheat quite well. Pies come out well too, especially if you reheat them for a minute in the microwave oven first. Capacity is 2 pies, but they rub on each other. About 8 budget cost fish fingers will fit across the base too. High heat, but a short time or they come out like rubber. Cakes, I wouldn't think would be a great idea. Ramekin bowls and the like would be hard pressed to get a few in, and would be better in a normal oven. Air fryers don't supersede a normal oven in my opinion, but are great for for quick meal for a single person or two if someone will wait a bit.
Here's a tip, the temperatures need to cook are lower by about 20 C than what is on packets for a fan forced oven. Also the temperature wheel is stiff to turn.
I am not sorry I bought it, but would not recommend it as 3 of my neighbour's who got the $49 -$69 air fryers from KMART are very happy with them after 6 months of use, and they don't look much different to me. I think I just bought the Philips name, but time will tell.
Mid week dinner game changer – I had umm’d and ahh’d over getting an air fryer for a long time now. I wish I had tried it sooner as it has truly changed mid week dinners for my household. It’s so quick and easy to use that dinner is ready in less than half an hour now. Oven chips are crispy and never soggy. Fish fillets and chicken is usually done in less time than preheating… Read more
the oven.
The instructions are a bit vague, I found that I had to play around a bit to figure out the right translation from traditional oven instructions. A packet of oven fries and some keen testers ready to try them was enough to get the hang of it. I found a blog post online that suggested using 20C less cooked for just over half as long which is a pretty good guide.
I think the size is about right for 1-2 people. Large families would probably be better suited with the larger models.
The phillips app with air fryer recipes is a great companion and I’m looking forward to trying them out, I already have plans to get the additional baking and grilling attachments.

This is perfect! Cannot live without it – Very satisfied with my purchase. I use this air fryer every day to make my kid's school lunch! So easy to use, and it fries both sides evenly without needing to flip food. Cleaning is also very easy. Show details

Decent and functional airfryer – I have the large size version and it does it’s job - I fry or reheat small batches of chicken pieces. It comfortably holds a medium whole chicken which will take 30 mins to cook. Not the best for crispy chips as they will not turn out the way you want them - crispy on the outside. I notice that lot of smoke emits whenever I airfry pork belly. In… Read more · 3
terms of cleaning the basket, you’ll need some patience to scrub the bits stuck in between. Otherwise a fairly functional product
Negative reviews
Great product, but difficult to clean – Had mine for over 2 years and have never deep fried anything since. I use it alot; just lightly toss the food with oil before putting in the airfryer. If the food is crumbed, I dont use oil. The only room for improvement would be to make it easier to clean. Grease accumulates in the groves and can only be removed by soaking in boiling water and detergent every now. Apart from that, wouldnt live without it. Show details

Definitely an overpriced cooking appliance and does not live up to the hype 120 character limit excludes explanation – Output using suggested cooking methodology does not compare with traditional cooking and clean up is far more than clean up of the same dish using traditional cooking methods Price of the appliance is over rated Show details

Cleaning is a nightmare – This airfryer cooks great. Cant fault the cooking and very useful if you have teens. The 1 star is for 2 reasons. The airfryer does not come with accessories. You must purchase extra accessories to cook various foods and the accessories are not cheap. For $500 I expect a few more accessories. No matter what you cook there is a sticky residue that… Read more

Love it! Use it daily – I was skeptical at first. I thought it might be another gimmick in my kitchen I hardly use. However I use this daily. It’s awesome to cook a small batch of food and reheats in seconds. I did find it a little small. When I upgrade I will buy the bigger size. Show reply
What did we do before they invented these? – Strolling through a retailer that sells just about everything and I saw this kitchen utensil that I hear so much about. fingers, even scones so easy and quick. No more turning on a big Oven for something small as it is just not economically viable anymore with the Phillips Airfryer. Easy to clean, easy to use, easy to pack away and..... get out again because we do. Great buy.
Essential piece of kitchen equipment – I’ve been after an airfryer for about a year now and finally got the original Philips two weeks ago. It’s changed the way I cook chicken, veggies and even bacon. There’s a lot less mess than pan frying and the obvious health benefits (draws the fat out of the bacon and drains it under the basket). It does the same job as the digital fryer, with less frills and most importantly, the drawer is very smooth. Show details · 1
Perfect – I find it excellent! Quick and EASY TO CLEAN. You just put the basket in the dishwasher on pot wash and it comes out clean and ready to use again. I don't even unclip the base, it all goes in as it comes out of the Air Fryer. I am not cleaning the element, do you unscrew the sides of your over and deep clean it much? All these negative… Read more · 1
reviews about cleaning seem a bit OTT. I use mine at lease 4 times a week, steak, chicken sausages, everything is easy as. Chips take 12 minutes and are crunchy and cooked to perfection. The rack that is an extra is really good for cooking 2 things at once. Philips is the only brand I would consider. Others take way too long and you could just use your oven. Happy Air Frying Everyone!
Bloody great – We are a family of 6. This gets used everyday, multiple times. Doesn't heat the house like your oven and is so fast. It turns frozen pizza, pies, quiche and old breadrolls into gourmet versions. So many uses. Tips - don't use more than a spray of oil to avoid smoke smoke. If the food is frozen kick off at a lower temp before cranking it up to avoid burning the food. Very happy. Show details

Crap!! – Bought this in December have used around 5 times, each time have had to physically scrub the wire basket, even used oil spray to avoid this! Big box Too small item, very misleading. Cannot turn off! Friend bought one twice the size half the price, would like a refund! Show details

Very convenient – Chips, chicken, potato ,pork almost all food that we eat except with liquid of course and plus the only thing I’m having hard time with my air fryer is when I clean it but overall I’m super happy Show details · 1
Good Product. Serves our requirements of frequent "frying" of chips, samosas etc – Fully satisfied. Normally we cook Potato chips, Hash Browns, Wedges, Samosas, Spring rolls, Fish Fingers, Chicken nuggets etc. Product is very easy to use and clean. No Need to put in a Dishwasher, Simple hand wash would do Show details · 1
Best appliance bought – Owned it for a year, used once or twice every week or two. Reliable, simple to navigate and easy to use, nothing’s broken yet. More than enough for 2 people household. One of our most used appliances at home, super handy and healthy. Super happy! Read plenty of reviews before buying this and it has lived up to its reputation for sure. Mesh is bit… Read more · 1
hard to wash but that’s the same for any mesh material. Bottom tray is easy to clean, and surely drains the excess oil from oily foods. I seperate them both and chuck it in the dishwasher and comes out all clean anyway. Only thing to complain about this air fryer is the power cord winding design, you have to manually push the cord in to wind it inside the air fryer, but it still leaves out like a good 5cm of cord outside as well as the plug. Many times we just give up and leave it hanging. This appliance probably better suits a household with enough bench space to permanently place it somewhere.
A nightmare to clean, worse than cleaning a stove. Clean after use or smokes the house out with nasty dirty oven smell – I believe it is good to cook in but hardly worth it due to the cleaning problems. Have to turn upside down to clean element and takes about one hour. Show details

Use it everyday! – We use the air fryer everyday from just making toast (we don’t have a toaster) to frying veges, chips and meat. It is so quick and easy and convenient to use and easy to clean, although we don’t necessarily wash it after every use. Food produced by the air fryer is great but must be spaced out to allow air to go through each food item to ensure crispyness if you’re making chips for example. Show details · 1
It works but it's nothing special – This air fryer works just fine, in fact perfect. It's never broken or had problems. But it's not 5 stars because it's not special. It doesn't add anything new and it's the same as others. The price was good and the air fryer works. I recommend it to anybody who is looking for something simple. Show details · 1
Really good for the price – I got this at a really good price it was perfect ever since, we use it to make all sort of healthy fried food, using less oil to make fries is really the reason I decided to get this. Show details · 1
I cannot live without it – The most important part of my cooking life. I cannot imagine how it makes my life easier and more healthy without any oil just turn it on and the food cooked well. It is not like the other Air fryer I have used. Show details · 1
Love my air fryer! – We find this is the perfect size for our 2 person household. Really easy to use and much faster than an oven. We usually use it for roasting vegetables but I am keen to try a roast in there. Easy to clean as I just put the trays components straight in the dishwasher. Can't comment on the value for money as it was a present. Show details · 1
Great we use it everyday – We are on our second one we baought the original one when it first came out we had it for 8 years and used it all the time. It still worked when we replaced it. This new one we have had for a year and its great too. We have told all our friends and i would totally recommend it. You can cook something in the ime it would take to heat our big oven.
