The head that comes with the 9000 series is the only head that can be used as a replacement for the RQ1260. There are many, many bad reviews pointing at the poor quality of the blades. The upgrades in motor and sensory technology are great but if the blades are blunt after a couple of months what is the point.

I entered the world of electric shavers back in early 2000's with a Phillips Arcitec which at the time I thought was very expensive but wow what a shaver 14 years and brilliant.
My arcitec started to get a bit tired so in December 2015 I bought a Phillips S9711 and the first 3 months very impressive.
Now the bad from December 2015 until February 2017 I have been through 5 sets of blades and even bought a new head thinking I must have damaged it.
The new blades are great but totally blunt in approximately 3 months at $75 per set of blades and...
Horribly noise from one drive to the blades
I have ben using these shaves for over 4 years after trying a Braun. The 1st product was great, close shave and a lot quieter! Then after some 18 months the smart clean stopped working, I took it back to the shaver shop and was told it would have to go back to Philips for assessing. A problem to back to my old Braun, good job I kept it! After 4 weeks I went back to the shop with my original receipt and they couldn't find any record of the return, although the assistant signed it as such. But she had since left, I was offered the next model up, ...as mine was discontinued, I had to pay $185.00 more to get another razor! The model I have now, which after less than a year has developed this very load squealing noise. I use the smart clean after every use, I use the shaver guard as recommended by shaver shop. I wash the head unit in boiling water maybe once a month and then apply shaver guard. I was told a 2 year warranty was in place, but not if you'd returned a faulty unit, that was lost somewhere in the shop. I like some advise on what to do please.
Worst shaver ever
I have used Phillips shavers all my life and bought this model last year. I persevered for a month but could never get a close shave. I then went back to using my $40 Phillips shaver which works so much better (and $300 cheaper!). The $40 one is now past its best and I want to buy another. Can anyone let me know if Phillips have improved these models at all as I want to buy the best (at whatever cost) but I'm scared to go down the Phillips path again. Thanks
Redesign the shaver
I've had the Phillips shaver ( S9711/31) for 4 months
The shaver is quite and easy to handle but it doesn't give a close shave . I've done everything the instructions says for a close shave but it doesn't work .
I need to use a razor blade to get that close shave after shaving with the Phillip shaver .
A 400 USD beard trimmer
As an electric shaver user for over 10 years, i've been presented with s9711 by my wife. The first shave was terrible. It ruined my skin without a close shave . Maybe i should wait my skin to adapt. So, the second shave was terrible. Ruined my skin again. I must give a third chance to s9711. So, the third shave was exactly the same. And it continued that way. I kept trying for over 10 days, nothing changed. Turned back my old excellent shaver (braun). Now I'm happy, my skin is happy. Only my wife is sad for the money she gave and for turning my face into a tomato for over 10 days. Now I have the most expensive beard trimmer in the world. Bye Philips...
But wait... it's not all bad!
Very impressed with the shave of the Philips Series 9000 SensoTouch, having been a dedicated Braun user for quiet sometime. I have to shave everyday and I have found it cuts closer and results in a smoother shave which lasts longer and is less irritating on the skin than the Braun ever was. My greatest disappointment has been trying to get a replacement wash system which was faulty from the start it's now been 3 months and Philips are not coming to the party, very poor effort in terms of customer service!
Waste of money
I bought model S9711 expecting a great shave whit such a big price. after first use I was highly disappointed with the very basic results..if you are shave is important for you don't even think about this .Still I get great and much better results from my old panasonic. I must also appreciate Phillips company in australia that accepted refund me,this one was in the standards of today business, thanks Philips but I expected much more from your brand
robbed by philips
i only got the $500 s9711 series 9000 cause your told by philips how awesome they are,so ya think the shaver will do as they say,you trust that spending alot of money when told how good it is then find it dosent do what they say, they lie to rob you of alot of money,it runs to slow to do a good job,got to go over & over the same area & it takes a very long time have a shave, same with the trimming head & its very loud, shame on philips for selling a plastic cheaply made product at a hugely high price that dose a very poor job,i got robbed by philips
Questions & Answers
My smartclean system fills with fluid after every cleaning. This makes the razorhead all wet so that I have to dry it with a towel after every time I run the smartclean. This is annoying and I guess that the problem causes the cleaning cartridge to be used up at a higher rate than what is normal. Is there a sollution to this?
