My wife loves it – Got this for my wife, she loves it she says it has enough power to dry her hair, the price was decent as it was on discount and the build quality looks awesome as all my other Philips machines Show details ·  1

Very strong – Very strong wind, choose from cold and hot, lever 1 and lever 2, acceptable noise, the body will not become hot while you are using it. Did a good work. Show details ·  1

Five Stars – I picked this up because I have the full size version and it's great, but I wanted something compact to keep on my counter. I recently got bangs and blow drying them wet with a round brush is the only way they look right. This does the job beautifully, fast, and doesn't take more than a minute. I only dry my bangs. Highly recommended.  Show reply

Value for money – I have used my friend's hair dryer of the same model. She had only good reviews. I was looking for a good but cheap hair dryer that works and has a diffuser for my wavy hair. It works great - ionic, with hot/cold settings, 2 levels for "blower strength", 2 attachments - diffuser, styling. Price was $39 only at Amazon EOFY sale.  Show reply

Philips HP8233 – Very powerful hair dryer. with 2 changeable head ( normal flat blower and silicon with holes that can goes into dry the long hair quicker. It has small holes on the back of hair dryer to prevent hair coming through to the heating elements. the disadvantage is too big for my daughter's hand. over all it's very good hair dryer. bought on april 2017 on K.G Electronic on ebay for $54  Show reply

Great little beauty – It's easy to use and functional so I can dry my hair quicker without any damage with the Ionic function on. Multiple speed and temperature settings are very useful for me and my little one as well. However I haven't used the round attachment very much so I can't tell about this one though, but still great without it.  Show reply

Best hairdryer I've ever owned – Prior to owning this, I had a Wahl super dryer that cost a fair bit. It died suddenly one day, so I had to run out to the shops to buy another one for an important event that night. So glad I chose this one! Best hairdryer I've ever owned. It's nice and light and dries my long hair really quickly. Very pleased.  Show reply

Excellent Product WITHOUT the exorbitant price tag – I quickly discovered that hair dryer technology has expanded since I purchased my last one 10 years ago. My old one was a Philips Tresame, which I was happy with. Not only has the technology offerings increased, so has the price, if you are prepared to spend. After researching and consulting Choice testing, and working out what I needed in a hair… Read more ·  1

dryer, one important consideration being price, I chose this model.

I needed:

- a diffuser - the massaging ends don't massage my scalp, but they do lengthen the diffusing ends and this I need for my thick, curly/wavy hair; the diffuser works and is easily attached and removed;

- a styling nozzle - this model is 11mm, narrow enough for direct styling

- variable speed settings - 6 speed and temperature settings, cool shot and an added bonus is the ThermoProtect, which dries quickly without the being on the hotest setting. Iconic setting is also available.

- cord length - 1.8 m is just a good length for me, a little longer wouldn't hurt but is not essential.

- wattage - 2200w - just what I was looking for

- reputable brand - Philips - my long departed model lasted for approximately 8 - 9 years without any problems, so I'm hoping Philips have maintained their standard and quality - Choice seem to think so

- price - the cost of this hair dryer is half that of the models the shop assistant showed me with the same features (approximately $50), reasonable and acceptable without being a cheapskate.
