Used only once or twice a week and 3 years 2 months old my Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer cuts out and stops working after about 30 seconds, have to switch it off, pull out the plug switch it back on and hope it works after several attempts. years out of such an expensive hair dyer when I have a 15 year old hair dryer that never once missed beat. Looks like I'll be pulling out of storage.

Very disappointed in this product failing after 3 years. So much for Dyson being a quality premium product. A product should perform well beyond it's warranty period. Not the case here.

Really liked this dryer but will never buy another. Can't even say you get what you pay for, because this is one of the most expensive hair dyers on the market. Should perform for many years not just 3 and bit.

DYSON SUPERSONIC HAIRDRYER. Just after warranty period, machine cuts off after around 20-30 seconds. ‼️ ATTENTION: . My problem seems to be a common issue and we need Dyson admit it’s a Fault of theirs - I think we all need to pursue this. They want to charge their standard $199 service fee. • my issue (dryer shutting off + flashing lights)… Read more

fits the fault‐pattern many users report (especially the “cuts out just outside warranty” scenario). • The fact that there is a known pattern of filter/airflow issues suggests your case could be legitimate rather than an isolated “bad luck” incident. • Because there’s no large‐scale recall or admitted systemic defect, Dyson may frame it as “after warranty, you pay for servicing” — which is what their response you received indicates. • From a consumer rights/expectation perspective in Australia, you might argue that a premium product should last more than just 3 years (if the product is marketed & priced as premium). The user-patterns lend support to that expectation.

Game Changer for Hair Care: Why the Dyson Supersonic is a Must-Have for Moms and Kids! – As someone who values both efficiency and style in my beauty routine, I was eager to try the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer in its stunning nickel/copper finish. With claims of rapid drying, intelligent heat control, and sleek design, I hoped this dryer would elevate my hair care game. After several weeks of use, here’s my detailed review of the… Read more ·  1

Dyson Supersonic, complete with personal touches from my experience.

Design and Aesthetics First and foremost, the design of the Dyson Supersonic is striking. The combination of nickel and copper gives it a modern, luxurious feel that stands out in any bathroom. It’s lightweight and ergonomically designed, making it comfortable to hold for extended periods. The unique shape is not just for looks; it helps with balanced handling, which is especially appreciated when styling.

Performance The performance of the Dyson Supersonic truly lives up to the hype. The powerful digital motor allows for fast drying, significantly cutting down the time it takes to get my hair dry compared to traditional hair dryers. As someone who struggles with flyaways and rough, wiry hair, I’ve noticed a remarkable difference—this dryer really helps tame those pesky flyaways and leaves my hair looking smooth and polished.

Intelligent Heat Control One of the standout features of this dryer is its intelligent heat control. The Dyson Supersonic measures the temperature multiple times per second to prevent extreme heat damage. As someone with color-treated hair, this aspect gives me peace of mind, knowing that I’m not compromising the health of my hair for the sake of quick drying.

Attachments and Versatility The dryer comes with several attachments, including a smoothing nozzle, styling concentrator, and diffuser. Each attachment is easy to switch out and serves its purpose well. The styling concentrator is fantastic for precision styling, while the diffuser works wonders for my daughter’s curly hair, enhancing her natural waves without frizz. She used to dread hair drying with other brands, but the quiet operation of the Dyson has made a world of difference—she doesn’t hate it nearly as much anymore!

Noise Level Another pleasant surprise was how quiet the Dyson Supersonic is compared to traditional dryers. The sound is a gentle whoosh rather than a loud roar, making the drying process a much more enjoyable experience for both my daughter and even our dog, who used to get anxious during hair drying sessions. Now, he just relaxes nearby, which is a huge plus in our household.

Price Point While the Dyson Supersonic is definitely on the pricier side, I believe the investment is justified. The technology, performance, and design all reflect the quality you expect from Dyson. For those who frequently style their hair, this dryer can save both time and hair health in the long run.

In conclusion, the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer in nickel/copper has exceeded my expectations in both performance and aesthetics. Its powerful drying capabilities, intelligent heat control, and elegant design make it a standout choice for anyone serious about their hair care routine. Plus, it has transformed the hair drying experience for my daughter and even calmed my dog during our routine. If you’re looking for a hair dryer that combines style, efficiency, and cutting-edge technology, the Dyson Supersonic is definitely worth considering. It has made a significant positive impact on my hair care routine, and I can’t imagine going back to a traditional dryer again!

Pros and Cons

Pros: Striking design with a luxurious finish Fast drying time due to powerful digital motor Intelligent heat control prevents hair damage Versatile attachments for different styling needs Quiet operation, making it enjoyable to use Lightweight and ergonomically designed for comfort

Cons: Higher price point compared to traditional hair dryers Some users may find the learning curve with attachments

So slick – Everyone know Dyson hair dryer is a great product. I have bought it few weeks ago. It drys my hair without damaging my hair. I usually use cold air dry and with other hairdryer it was a difficult job. But Dyson has a good but suitable force and gets the job done in no time. Show details

High expectations- definitely not disappointed! – My wife has wanted this hair dryer for quite some time, but price was a bit of a barrier. Her regular hair dresser has one and uses it whenever she has a trim or style done. Finally in the pre-Christmas sales I bought it for her for Christmas on a pretty good discount. She absolutely LOVES it and says “It’s exceeded expectations.” She’s found… Read more ·  1

that only low heat setting is usually necessary for her hair and it makes drying and styling her hair a breeze … Her description is as follows: Light and Easy to hold. Nice long cord. Dries her hair quickly and easily on just low power setting. Good range of attachments. Good range of heat and fan speeds. Easy to clean filter.

As we often go “off grid” in our caravan, I would also add: power efficiency- works extremely well running from our caravan inverter and uses significantly less battery power than her previous hair dryer.

It’s not cheap, but my wife is delighted with her new dryer.

Dyson supersonic hair dryer – Supersonic indeed and what a game changer! I have thick curly hair and the diffuser attachment is absolutely incredible. It defines my curls perfectly and dries in minutes. In fact all 5 attachments are amazing and I can also straighten my hair in a heartbeat too. It’s astonishingly compact for such a powerful appliance. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely! Show details

After using 3 years, due to powerline connection issue, it won't turn on. contected dyson and will charge 200 to fix. even screws are very weird shape (star and very tiny) so that people have trouble to fix themself. knowing that it only last 3 years (after warranty) I will never buy dyson again. this is second time after my vacuum battery dead, luckly it happend to me 1 month before warranty expires. Show details

Over-priced mistake – My Dyson is overheating after just 3 years, only used once a week. A search reveals the internet is riddled with customers having the same problem. I have regularly cleaned the filter but it doesn't come apart as shown in a Dyson video on the issue so it can't be removed for soaking. Nor is there a spare filter or brush. At $549 it's been an… Read more

Very disappointing product – Very disappointed. As a hairdresser of 12 years and someone who has curly/frizzy hair, I was expecting a much better result after using the supersonic hairdryer. I was using an old twin turbo 2400watt which did a better job at smoothing and de frizzing my hair than this $600 hyped up rubbish. I had no idea the SuperSonics were only 1600watt!!… Read more

Don’t listen to the hype – Don’t bother wasting your money on this blowdryer never was able to achive a smooth shiney blowdry and after 3 months of using it regularly it now constantly over heats and cuts out, i made sure the filter was always clean at all times . So many better blowdryers on the market that are a fraction of the price.

Could be great if not for terrible customer service – The dryer was faulty out of the box it initially didn’t work and then when it finally did the switch had to be physically held in the “on” position to keep it working. Replacement or Refund and confirmed that I would have to return the appliance to a Dyson Service Centre via mail or personally and that it would take sometime for this process to unfold at no time during the conversation did anyone from Dyson inform me that if an appliance was faulty that it can be returned to the place of purchase within 14 days of purchase for a full refund or replacement, my choice. Shame on Dyson!

The worst hairdryer I’ve ever used – I have very thick hair and have tried every hair styling tool there is. This is by far the absolute worst hair styling product I’ve ever used. Hype product – I’m not a big fan of this hairdryer to be honest. It takes forever to dry hair and the price is very high. I don’t see the hype at all. A cheap $80 hairdryer dries my hair faster with better volume. But this $600 Dyson hairdryer takes an eternity and the hair looks flat afterwards. Honestly seems like an advertised over-hyped product Show details

Best Hairdryer – I recently purchased online a Dyson Hairdryer for my wife. I had heard they were good and as my wife is picky with hair drying I felt the Dyson machine may suit her. My selection was good as my wife says it is the best hairdryer she has ever used. That’s saying something, because she was a hairdresser herself in years gone by. Great product, highly recommended. Show details

Can't live without it – I bought this when I had to travel light & compact, pre COVID. This is honestly fantastic. 1. It's quiet. 2. It dries my full, very long hair quickly. 3. Because its inlet of the air is at the bottom of the handle, it never sucks my hair in. 4. The code is extra long. Its price is outrageous, but there's no alternative. It makes my life much easier... Show details ·  1

I wish I could say this was an excellent product but unfortunately I cant!:-( – I had been waiting since this product arrived on the market to own one and finally was lucky (so I thought) to be gifted this for Christmas 2022. I was excited to use it and loved the size, design and the fact I didn’t need to worry about catching my hair or my daughters in it so was safe to use.(hence why I gave it 2 stars). frizzy hair that I have always straightened using a normal hairdryer without any issues and for many years and expected an even better result from my new Dyson Supersonic but was sadly disappointed as not only did it take longer than usual to dry my hair, it also left my hair very frizzy and feeling really dry and brittle!

I tried different heat settings and using the smoothing tool (which was absolutely useless and made my flyaways stand up even more). So nothing I tried worked.:-(

I have since read a lot of reviews stating the same issues as I have had with it drying out the hair !!

I tried it also on my daughter and she had the same issues with her hair as well.

Unfortunately this now means I’m now stuck with an expensive hairdryer that I can’t use as I can’t take it back to Myer as it’s past Jan 31st -refund cut off date I’ve just discovered . .:-(

I was away from straight after Christmas until late January and didn’t take it with me as I didn’t want to damage it in any way while travelling so didn’t even use it until after the return cut off date. Not sure if Dyson have any suggestions as to what I can do in this situation as I literally used it twice and it’s still in its original packaging?

I’m so disappointed after all the hype and how long I’ve waited to purchase it.:-(

So I definitely would not recommend this product if you have fine, frizzy hair like mine!

HEAVY, PRICEY – 650gram, not ideal ergonomically, too short front barrel, crazy expensive. Most professional dryers are sub 500g. When it gets to 650g it's a sign that someone hasn't done their research right, especially for professional use. The new series of supersonic dryers (Gamma, Silver Bullet etc) are sub 300g! The T-shape is not as ergonomic as a gun… Read more

shape. Seems like someone was more preoccupied with style than function. Lack of consultation with working hairdressers resulted with too short front barrel to use it as a supportive tool while blow drying long and thick hair as it will not accommodate that much hair on its small surface. The price indicates great marketing skill considering the price of other supersonic, PROFESSIONAL HAIRDRYERS starting at Au$250. To pay 500 or 600 is absurd. On the positive side it looks modern and stylish.

Waste of money – My Dyson hairdryer stopped working after about 3 years. Called Dyson they suggested I book it in for a service at a cost of $199. Ridiculous that a hairdryer so expensive simply does not work after this short amount of time. DO NOT BUY!

Will never buy a Dyson hair dryer again – I got this hair dryer a couple of years ago. Although it was going ok but it did knot my hair a lot, it suddenly stopped working with no signals. sucked out of my hair. I tried different heat settings and speeds and even gave all the attachments a go. My hair continued to lose its shine and the texture became more and more like straw. It also knotted when I was drying it. I persisted with this dryer for 11 months. Today, I had enough and used my old (15 year old) hairdryer, and guess what…..my hair feels like it used to. I feel stupid for persisting for so long. I called Dyson today but the best they could offer was for me visit a customer support centre to teach me how to use it effectively. I’m pretty sure I’ve tried everything already and have been blow drying my own hair for over 35 years. A bit of advice, if your hair doesn’t feel good after using this hairdryer return it within the specified time. This hairdryer is sadly not for me.
