Nozzle spins – I am having issues with my GHD dryer as the nozzle spins when trying to blow dry straight my hair. it’s frustrating as it doesn’t allow me to use it correctly for clients Show details
Really disappointed – The nozzle!!!! Why are we all paying for a hair dryer where the nozzle flys off ALL the time?? Oh, and it's heavy...but the nozzle!! I hate this hair dryer and really regret buying it. Show details
Best hairdryer for at home blow wave! – PURCHASED IN 2022 I purchased the ghd air professional hair dryer several months ago and I am very happy with it. I really like the design. It has a nice shape and the branded grille and sweeping metal detail gives it a luxurious look and feel. It is very sturdy and comfortable to hold. It is a little heavier than some other models out there,… Read more
but the weight is evenly balanced, so I don’t really notice the extra weight. There are multiple speed and temperature settings which takes into consideration different hair types and styling requirements. I have thick, medium length hair and find that the full power and medium heat setting works best.
The location of the power, heat and cold shot buttons are good, in other models this was an issue because they were located right where my fingers are placed, causing me to accidentally press them whilst using it. The detachable concentrator nozzle is a good size and attaches with one easy click. The ghd air is equipped with an extra long cord that provides freedom and flexibility whilst using it. The filter grille is removable which makes for easy cleaning.
I do full blow waves on my own hair at home, so the concentrator nozzle is extremely close to my hair, often touching it. In the past whilst using other hairdryers, this has at times caused my hair to singe, but that is not the case with the ghd air. My hair comes out smooth and frizz free every time thanks to its advanced ionic technology.
Pros: Dries hair quickly. Leaves hair shiny and frizz free. Has different speed & temperature settings. Has cooling function. Extra long cord allows for ease of movement when styling.
Cons: Hairdryer can get heavy with extended use for some users. More expensive than other brands.

Excellent Customer Service, GHD! Thank you! – I enjoyed slightly over two years of use of my wonderful ghd Air hairdryer - the best hairdryer I have used and in my view, worth every cent of the price tag! I was extremely disappointed, however, when it prematurely expired after only two years of minimal daily use (3 minutes per day on short hair). I contacted ghd to enquire where they… Read more
would recommend I send the unit for repair and after a few emails back and forth where I had expressed my disappointment, the customer service team at GHD very kindly offered to replace the unit as it was just a few months outside the warranty period.
Given the many stories that one constantly hears of being dismissed or ignored when contacting companies in relation to such matters, I did not have any expectation of a replacement so I was totally impressed when the offer was made to me.
I feel that even though I was disappointed at the failure of the unit after such a relatively short life span, the experience of the outstanding customer service by GHD and their kind offer to replace the unit - rather than stubbornly insist the unit was outside the two year warranty period - was impressive in this day and age.
I love my new (replacement) ghd Air and the customer service team has won me back to the brand! Well done and thank you!
Very satisfied with the performance of this product – Today I trialed the Ghd Air Nocturne Hairdryer for the first time. I will admit that I am always skeptical when trying something new, and there certainly are a lot of eligible hairdryers on the market. I have been tempted by the Ghd Air Nocturne Hairdryer for many months, but had never completely pursued it to the point of purchase. Certainly I… Read more
had toyed with the idea, heard some reviews from others, and even handled it a bit before. Finally, today temptation got the best of me, and I went 'Full Monty' with this glorious machine.
Before commenting on the performance, I will first address it's veneer. The Ghd Air Nocturne Hairdryer is definitely impressive to look at in it's full glory. The outer cover is adorned with a variety of aesthetically pleasing prints. The whole design is both stylish and sleek, and I thoroughly enjoy running my hands over it's smooth body. Certainly, it is it one of the most visually pleasing hairdryers on the market.
In terms of the performance, the Ghd Air Nocturne Hairdryer does not disappoint. It's stamina (in short bursts) is impressive. My only niggle was that it did get incredibly hot at times, and I had to stop and cool it down.
In particular, I enjoyed the variable heat and power controls, which I was able to adapt to suit my needs. The precision nozzle allowed for incredible results in from a multitude of different angles. Ghd claims that the Air Nocturne dries hair up to 2x faster than conventional dryers, but that remains to be seen. However, I believe that when it comes to a good blow out, speed isn't everything.
Overall, the Nocturne will give you a fantastic blow out. It is efficient, sleek, high performing, and the results will leave you shivering with joy. It serviced me twice today, and I am pleased with my overall experience with this powerful styling partner.
GHD Air - My Thoughts (love it), Things 2 Consider & Specs – I really do love my GHD Air hairdryer - It's powerful, it dry's my hair really quickly, it's heavy but not too heavy & it leaves my hair looking shiny & smooth. My hair stays straight or however I style it, even in slightly humid or hot weather & it does not leave me with loads of flyaway's or frizz. I highly recommend the GHD Air to anyone… Read more
looking for a new hairdryer, especially if you blow wave your hair regularly. You'll find my more detailed thoughts on this hairdryer, as well it's specs & accessories directly below.
*** My detailed review starts here, if you're looking for the GHD Air specs and accessories please scroll all the way to the end.
My Experience With The GHD Air:
I really do love my GHD Air hairdryer! It's GHD hairdryer #2 for me (#1 lasted 5+ years with almost daily use) & I'm happy to say I've not found there to be any decline in quality or performance (I was a little worried there would be). I find the GHD Air really easy to use as it has one button to adjust the heat/temperature, a second button to adjust the power & a third different shaped button you use for a cool shot. Another feature I love is its power cable, it's 3m long which is longer than I need most of the time, but here & there it comes in really handy. I also find the longer cable doesn't seem to twist up or get knotted like I've experienced in the past - It's actually about double the length of the cables you'll find on most hair styling tools.
This hairdryer dries my hair really quickly, it blow waves my hair straight even faster & it leaves my hair really silky & smooth. It doesn't leave me with fly-away's, my hair isn't frizzy & it stays straight or styled for a really long time. I used to find my hair would start to curl or frizz quite quickly, even without moisture, heat or humidity & even though I'd used pre & post ant-frizz & 'keep in place' products. This happened a lot after GHD #1 died as I was using a non GHD dryer for a couple of weeks before I purchased the GHD Air.
* FYI I have very fine hair but a lot of it & it's a mix of very wavy & curly.
The GHD Air is a little bit heavier than most hairdryers I've tried. It's just over 1.5kg & to me it feels strong, sturdy & like it's a good quality hairdryer. I don't find the weight to be an issue at all, but I did read a few reviews where users felt it was too heavy.
Additional Points Potential Buyers Should Consider:
I've already mentioned that there are a few reviews around stating that this hairdryer is not easy to use & is too heavy. Obviously that's not my experience, but I think it's important for potential buyers to know.
I've also come across a couple of reviews where users said they find it really noisy, again that has not been my experience & I should also point out that there were other reviews saying it was super quiet? To me it's just as loud as any other good hairdryer, it's not louder & it is not quieter.
This is a really powerful hairdryer at 2100 Watts, so if you're using it on the highest heat & power settings it can get hot. I haven't burnt myself or anything like that, I'd just be really careful if I was using it to dry off my puppy or my child's hair.
The one thing that annoys me about the GHD Air hairdryer is exactly the same thing that annoyed me about GHD #1. It's a black hairdryer so the couple of times I've touched my fringe up after completing my makeup, I managed to get foundation all over the handle & it was not that easy to remove. It's easy enough to prevent this from being a problem, it's just annoying when you forget to wash the makeup off your hands before picking up the hairdryer.
And last but not least - I have to admit I almost didn't buy the GHD Air. I kept reading all the outstanding reviews & seeing all the in store displays for the Dyson & Panasonic hairdryers, I was also watching customer after customer buy them, some bought two or three, so I was really tempted by the Dyson & Panasonic hairdryers. At the end of the day there were three key reasons I finally decided to go with the GHD Air:
1. The GHD Air has 2100 Watts power, the Panasonic hairdryer has 1800 Watts & Dyson's hairdryer is 1600 Watts.
2. At $399 for the Panasonic & $499 or $599 for the Dyson, it was an expensive risk to take seeing I hadn't actually tried them myself.
3. The GHD Air was on sale for $190 & it came with a free diffuser valued at $50, so I just couldn't justify spending over double the price for a hairdryer I hadn't even tried (I'm sure they're both amazing though!).
* FYI there were heaps of positive reviews online when I was researching this product & I literally only saw a few saying those couple of negative comments above. The vast majority were overwhelmingly positive.
* GHD Air Hairdryer Specs & Accessories:
I'm really glad I made the decision to buy this hairdryer. It's high quality, it's powerful, easy to use & it does such a great job of my hair. All the specs are listed directly below, I've included its accessories too:
- 2100 Watt professional strength AC motor at 240v

Good hair dryer – I use this hair dryer and it dries my hair without any fuss. It has a very long chord which is great and would be very useful for hair dressers and stylists. It is a little heavy but I can manage. Pros: Quick drying Different settings, including cool setting Expensive Cons: Is a little loud Is a little heavy
The best hairdryer I’ve ever owned – I love this hairdryer! Definitely lives up to the GHD reputation of being a reliable and exclusive product. I use it daily without any issues. Relatively quiet. Good heat modes. Dries my hair within minutes - literally! I love the sleek look and black colour too! Recommend to anyone seeking a new hairdryer! Show details
Attachment spins – Bought this for my wife, great hair dryer but she is frustrated because the hair straightening attachment keeps spinning. Have been back to GHD about this and they promptly sent a new attachment but this one spins as well. Seems like a design flaw. Have noticed others having the same issues. Show details
Negative reviews
Started well ended badly – Helios hair dryer was great never really had a problem other than the plug getting hot, until on low heat and low setting sparks started to come out singed my hair and burnt my head the hair dryer did cut off but was smoking and burning smell. It’s been a scary experience and very painful one. Will be sending the item back but wanting refund not a replacement due to what’s happened. Show details
Don't bother... faulty and dangerous products with zero support – My GHD dryer exploded in my face, burned some hair and skin. I've received zero response from GHD customer service or head office. They don't care. My GHD straightener also is also poor quality. Honestly one of the most overhyped haircare brands out there. So many better companies to buy from who will actually respond when there's an issue. Show details
Not great – The nozzle continuously falls off, it it moves around and I have to constantly stop to adjust it. Very frustrating. It will have to go in a drawer and I’m buying a different brand. Show details

Do Not Purchase This Hairdryer – ghd makes great hairstraighters, and they should stick with this. This hairdryer tarnishes their brand. It gets too hot and the nozzle drops off constantly. When I contacted ghd to request a replacement nozzle, I was told that I would need to purchase one. Seriously. Show details
The worse product to waste money on – They really bad it did not last me more then 15 months contacted them they did not anything to help my emails got ignored. Show details
Not so satisfied – I bought my GHD air hair dryer 2 years ago when I lived in Australia. Every time I use the dryer the nossle keep on falling off from the head of the dryer when I blow dry my hair. I don’t blow dry it often cause my hair is curly and Love it that way. But now that I’m living in Serbia and blow dry my hair often the nossle just pop of each time I… Read more
start a new section of my hair. I had my first GHD hair dryer when I started working in a hair salon and even took it with me when I use to travel and never had any trouble with it like I do with my current dryer. I got so upset with my last blow dry because of the nossle that I had to use tape around the nossle in order for it to stay just to finish my hair. I like GHD but not sure how I feel about them now after I purchased my last hairdryer from them.
Terrible hair dryer, its my 2nd dryer and they both have blown up in less than 2 years – I purchased a dryer for over $400 and it sparked and blew up in my hand after less than 2 years. I contacted GHD & they sent me another one but told me that i would not have a warranty on the new one. The one they sent had a not for resale sticker on it... and sure enough just over a year later this one blew up. I have contacted GHD another time… Read more
to explain and they said its not under warranty. There are many other better dryers on the market for half the cost. If they lasted more than a few years they would be ok but they dont.
Don't believe the hype – Wouldn't recommend. The spinning nozzle makes it very hard work to achieve a smooth finish. According to GHD this isn't a fault ! Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Much cheaper and better products on the market. Show details
Frustrating to use due to faulty nozzle – Usually love GHD products but unfortunately this one is very difficult to use as the nozzle continuously spins when trying to blow dry. Looks like a design fault from many other reviews. Would really like to know how this can be remedied. Show details
Has the makings of a great hairdryer, but it’s not – This could be an amazing hairdryer. The fact the nozzle continually spins makes this an incredibly frustrating dryer. It also has just 2 speeds, I feel like it should have one speed lower again. Show details
Concentrator nozzle useless – Great and expensive hairdryer but the concentrator nozzle constantly spins around. The point of a concentrator nozzle is that you’re able to concentrate the heat in one place which is impossible with this dryer. Would not recommend for this reason. Show details
Great but with a very badly designed nozzel – Awesome hair dryer that has one major design fault, the nozzle continually swivels. You spend far too much time and trouble trying to get the nozzle to stay where you want. Not happy! Show details

Nozzle keeps spinning – Nozzle keeps spinning which is so annoying. As soon as I hit off it it moves and I've to stop to put it back which is not ideal at all for work. Show details
Silver coating from switch peeling off – Not happy! My hairdryer worked well, however l wouldn’t invest in another one. Reason being... Silver paint around the ON and OFF buttons is mostly peeling off! Looks terrible and hard to handle when your using it.
Great hairdryer - except for one thing – This hairdryer is great and doesn't damage my hair unlike my old hairdryer. However, the nozzle does not stay secured to the hairdryer and keeps spinning during use. I bought this hairdryer via RY in Dec 2019 but not sure how to get this replaced. Show details
Does an amazing job – This hairdryer is very powerful. It dries and style my thick, frizzy, shoulder length hair in 15 minutes. It has 2 nozzles for different air flow and a cool setting to set the hair. Very slimline with a long power cord. Show details
Both my girls have them! – The GHD AIR is so good we ended up buying another for our other daughter a year later in December 2019. It’s light, works well as in a quick dry. The model is quiet and leaves their hair silky smooth and doesn’t dry out their hair. We were lucky enough to get a black and purple GHD and a black and blue GHD. Girls are happy with their hair dryers. I suggest you look around to get the best price. eBay, a hair supplier etc Show details
GHD Air Professional Hair Dryer – I purchased my second Ghd Air Hairdryer to replace the one that died I bought back in 2014. I purchased my new Ghd Air Hair Dryer in the kit with the brush, clips, dust bag and diffuser. it's impossible to use the hair dryer with a concentrator nozzle that is loose and spins making it impossible to get styled hair. I am hoping GHD replace this as I only bought this 22/1/2020.
****The customer service were very helpful and fast to respond and are sending out a replacement nozzle.****
It could be perfect .......but for one important detail – I have always purchased GHD products but my recent one which is their hairdryer is very disappointing as the nozzle won’t stay on straight (it keeps spinning) resulting in “Unable to achieve the smooth hair I require.” I have contacted GHD but have had no response. Great hair dryer – This is a great hair dryer! It comes beautifully packed in a nice sleek box with 2 different nozzle attachments and extra long cord! Feels nice to hold and use! The air flow is nice and dries my hair nicely without it looking fried. I’ve had this dryer for a couple of years. It’s reasonably priced. It isn’t the cheapest but isn’t the dearest either. I’m very happy with this hair dryer! Show details · 1
Good value for Money – I never knew GHD makes hair dryers until i saw one of my mates using it. bought it with doubts but so far the best hairdryer i have used. It wont make your hair feel very dry after drying your hair. this dryer leaves your hair silky smooth. Show details · 1
The best travel hair dryer – I purchased this hairdryer specifically to use in the USA (which has a different voltage to Australia). It worked fabulously in both counties / both voltages. (After a twist of voltage button). It's light and compact and dries hair quickly without blowing it around. I am a big supporter. I bought mine at the Shaver Shop. Show details · 1
