We thought we'd treat ourselves to a sit-down experience at the Picnic Point Cafe during our trip to the Carnival of Flowers ... it ruined our day. we didn't complain on the day as we knew they were busy and had noticed the sign about using take-away cups but didn't see any signs about reduced quality/service possibilities ... this is what we felt of our experience -
1. tables were so tightly packed together that 2 ladies from different tables had to move so we could get our wheelchair through. 2. disabled toilet was we felt dangerous, as it had water splashed everywhere and felt like it hadn't been checked all day. 3. we ordered a devonshire tea - the scones were mostly inedible, and we kept them in the take-away cup and fed them to our dog - the scones were too hard on the outside and still doughy on the inside. we took photos. 4. the devonshire tea arrived without milk or a teaspoon ... i had to go and get this and wasn't given a real spoon, just a paddle-pop stick ... no apology from the guy at the counter - he just handed very small milk jug to me without me even asking him, like he knew what i was coming for ... i did ask the girl who brough the devonshire tea to us ... but she didn't offer to serve us and told me to go to the counter to ask. 5. we ordered one type of drink in 2 different sizes - we received 2 identical, we think, small take-away drink containers with the exact same amount of drink inside so we were shortchanged a couple of dollars on the large one we had paid for.
We made allowances for the team having just had, we supposed, a busy lunch period but the cafe was a little over half full when we were there, and we felt it was a completely substandard experience that really let their business down.
our benefit of the doubt was removed when i emailed them several times after we returned home, using both of their website advertised email addresses and never received a reply.
I think, email feedback being ignored indicates that they really aren't too concerned about quality and this might not have been a unique experience ... poor RP and QA doesn't reflect well on them.
We won't be going back
