Plantronics Rig 500 Pro HX

Sounds good, but don't last as long as expected – I got about a year out of these (my second RIG headset). At that time the plastic that connects the ear pieces to the metal headband broke, on both sides - a weak point. A couple of months later, the faux leather peeled off the padding on the ear pieces. So I would call this poor build quality. I'm terms of usage, they sounded alright, and were reasonably comfortable. However, I would expect a >$120 headset should last longer than 18m. Show details
Fail for the PC :( – The RIG500 Pro's I Purchased for my PC did not come with the PC cable. Finding out this was an extra expense and not included. Despite the box clearly saying for PC. After researching how to make them work, I also found out that they may not work at all, with out a 'splitter' because of the jack Plantronics uses not commonly used on PC's. The… Read more
headphones themselves seem very flimsy out of the box. I read a review of these online, that said they had a metal head brace. The model I purchased in 2020 had a plastic one and the whole headphone felt very cheap. The headphone cord, which did not work with a PC, was very short, more set up for plugging into a console controller. This might be a good headphone option for a console. But for $130 for a PC, it is an EPIC FAIL when it does not work 'out of the box' and you are expected to fork over more $$ for another connector!! DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE A PC USER!
Never again will I buy Plantronics – I bought these at EB Games and only 1 year and 4 months out they have developed a fault. The audio drops out every 1-2 seconds for a millisecond - the result is an inconsistent audio stream. On top of this fault, one other fault was present for a few months; when the 2.5mm trrs jack is rotated in the connection on the headset, one of the audio… Read more

I have had nothing but trouble trying to get this headset serviced under warranty. I had the receipt in my possession somehow knowing I might 'need it one day' as you do with wired headsets (every headset I have ever bought for gaming has failed or broken down). I cannot find it and have been trying to source a headset via the EB Games customer service team.. I contacted NACON GAMING who are now the owners of RIG headsets. This company has not responded to my emails, and Plantronics themselves fobbed me off because they don't see it as their issue anymore due to having sold the product to NACON - this is even though the headset was purchased before that occurred.
I expected much better of a headset at this price point. The fact it failed only a year and four months after purchase (with minimal use) says a lot about the quality of this brand.
I will never again purchase a headset under the Plantronics brand if this is the service they provide to customers.
PS. If anyone actually knows any decent headset brands with customer service that gives a rats about it's consumers, please tell me - I am so sick of buying headsets that break down..
Superb. Great for gaming – Headset has amazing directional sound and is even better when used with Dolby Atmos which comes included via a code. The audio quality is great and having a volume adjuster on the cord makes it much more comfortable to use. Noise isolation is also great. Cable length could definitely be longer for people using the headset for PC purposes but for plugging straight into a console controller it is perfect. Show details
