I have a Polaris Quattro P40 (vs Sport - similar). VERY short life (less than 3yrs) and 4 things have gone wrong. first was covered by warranty and thereafter, other broken parts. Been told that it is "discontinued". PROS: you can buy parts for the entire unit until parts are no longer available or economical viable. PS: The pool chemical is well maintained and balanced. So the unit 24/7 submerged in the pool should "not" degrade the hard plastic parts in such short period. However, Australian summer may have contributed and accelerated the deterioration.

Short life span – We bought this on a recommendation from our local poolshop (Swimart). By no means was it cheap ($2,500 AUD). The unit was fast and effective and we were really impressed with it ... for a while ... After 12months the unit started going in circles and couldn't climb the wall. I asked the pool shop who referred me to the sales rep. He came out and fiddled with the director on the back and went his merry way.
It worked but was never as good as new. After 18months it basically stopped moving forward altogether. I rang the supplier and they sent me a whole brand new unit.
This worked a treat ... until it didn't ... scroll forward 12months and it wont climb to the surface and has reverted to going in circles.
After doing a bit of research it appears this is common - you can only expect 12-18mths life out of these things until they die and need to be rebuilt. I've found quite a good tutorial on Youtube and plan to have a crack this weekend, but if I had known the shelf life of these things was so short I wouldn't have purchased it in the beginning.
Purchased in for $2,500.

Worst pool cleaner ever – This pool cleaner has never worked properly. Purchased Nov 2019 as top of the range and thought it would be the best. We contacted the Poolshop where we purchased it from 3 months after purchase and numerous times since. They sent a service guy but it was never repaired properly. We tried unsuccessfully to have it repaired but the guy never came due to Covid. It is now out of warranty and they are not interested in fixing it. We are replacing it with a Jetvac.
Purchased in for $1,209.

Works well ... until it doesn't! – In February of this year we bought a Solaris Quattro Sport Pool Cleaner from Direct Pool Supplies. Initially it did a good job of cleaning our very large pool, but as the weather cooled HOSE TANGLE, which occurs frequently, has become a real issue. My husband has gone to some lengths to resolve it, including watching YouTube videos and reading the reviews and advice of others who've encountered the same problem. Our pool's curved corners are now full of debris that the unit does not pick up. Any suggestions on how to prevent such hose tangle would be much appreciated.
