thrust for such a big and high-set car. But electronically, it lacked keyless driving, lane departure, blind spot, and radar controlled cruise control. These werent so bad as I pretend to be a good driver and didnt feel as I needed them (nor did I crash so I guess thats validation in itself). What I missed over my previous Audi and what I notice now in my older BMW is the Porsche had poor graphics quality, no digital radio, and a really painful bluetooth connector that gave me a lot of feedback when trying to conduct a phone conversation (seems to be a common trait and not to do with my setup). I had two instances of the O2 sensors giving me grief, the first time they were changed out under warranty and the second time they just needed a blow out with the airhose, but this showed itself as an engine fault on the dashboard. Overall a really great ownership experience. I had it regularly serviced by a non-factory owned specialist including a PDK service which is a must-do.

life, point it where you want to go, and that's just what it does. I like to put some of my hard earned money into quality cars - this far exceeds the experience of a Mercedes and BMW I once owned. This thing just sticks on the road enabling the driver to guide it through maneuvers that would be sloppy in other vehicles. It honestly needs to be experienced with a test drive to understand how well put together the Porsche vehicles are. For me, I also enjoy the sound system and the plush feel of the interior. The electronic gadgety things also make it pleasurable such as the up/down knobs on the tailgate and the locking/unlocking sensors on all four doors. Adaptive cruise is well-used when I drive as is the blind-spot alert, though these are becoming standard in vehicles these days. It's a great car that is much easier to drive (believe it or not) than my partner's Mazda 3 which is a lot smaller and lighter. I think I have found the car I wish to hold on to, then upgrade when it's time. No more experimenting. This one's great.

fun to drive. The little dial ( a $2200 option ) attached to the steering wheel hub enables to easily go to sport, sport plus and 20 second boost. The flappy paddles and gearbox make changes so fast and jerk free, especially when you choose sport plus to change up the gearbox after a fast run. VERY happy with my choice. Fit and finish top class. Just the right size for around town retired couple.

Best car for what I need – I use the car to drive locally to shops and sport. Sometimes we travel to Brisbane which is a 120 km run. The car is 15 months old and is used almost daily. The car is equipped with the leather seat package and has 20 inch wheels. Looks good in white. Yes, there is no question, I would buy the car again. The car drives like a sports car and you feel that you have total control. It is a driver's car that does not feel like an SUV .Porsch Brisbane seems to be a good service oriented dealer, but presently not much experience with them. Go for a test drive. You will love the car.

slight hint of turbo lab common to all diesels

- The interior has worn very very well, especially with two young kids (2 and 5 year old)

- Overall very good after-sales service from Porsche Centre Doncaster

- Solid build quality on all panels and (almost) everything internally (see rattle note below)

- Lifetime fuel consumption of 8.0L / 100km, with 80% city/urban driving

Disappointments include:

- Persistent rattle (inside the passenger side door trim) that after 5 visits to the dealership can't be resolved. I've finally given up and just put up with it

- Tyres wear very quickly, due to the soft compound tyres mandated by Porsche. This is my third SUV and never have I had to replace tyres after 30,000km. On my previous SUVs (Mazda CX-7 and Range Rover Evoque) I sold the car before changing tyres (>60,000 kms)

- Paintwork is very prone to stone chips, as if the final top coat is almost too 'soft'

- Bluetooth audio connection is extremely slow, often taking 20 - 30 seconds to connect

- Expensive servicing ($800+ per visit)

anywhere. At the same time you feel the car is more dynamic than a Merc or BMW. You don't find any cheapy material in and out.

The car's electronic features are rather simple and fewer than what a typical German car offers.

It means their design is conservative and simple so it's one of the reasons why the Porsche is reliable.

Cons:

Rear leg room is a bit tight if you often need to carry adults in rear seat, you'd better to check if it's okay.

It's got too many buttons in cockpit which can confuse you.

My advice: The life is short so go and test drive one of them if you've been just thinking..

Highly recommend the Macan, the worst thing is the wait time to get one as they are so popular and they only produce a limited number per year.

Forget about the rest-this is the best – Costs two or three or even more times than the rest. Has the best suspension (air) by far, giving the best ride and handling of them all. Options excessively expensive. Also two or three times as fast as the others, loads of power, uses plenty of petrol or diesel. Fit and finish cannot be faulted. neither is the sun roof. A trifle bulbous until one becomes accustomed. The only vehicle that I found that comes close is the Audi RSQ3, almost as expensive, bit smaller. Apart from the high cost of initial purchase, options and service, very difficult to fault. Most would be (are) happy with lesser vehicles. One can pay more for Jaguars, Bentleys and Maseratis, but one will not find better.

almost perfect (sometimes grabs slightly when starting off) in traffic. The steering also now has feel whereas the Q5 was always vague, it is much more a drivers vehicle and as a Porsche it should be. It has less tyre noise than the Q5, maybe due to the Continentals fitted. In terms of performance while the V6 petrol versions are more powerful and hence quicker, the torque available in the diesel means it is effortless to overtake on the freeway (even with 4 passengers on board and uphill) and acceleration is more linear than the petrol versions, hence it can feel lazy. It is quite enough power for my use of mainly town driving with occasional fast driving when I head bush. Best thing about the diesel apart from the engines torque is the fuel economy. I consistently get 6.7l/100km on a run (over 50km) and about 8.2l/100km around town with 0-100km of 6.3 secs if you need it. Have had a few mechanical issues with the Macan, such as the transfer case replaced, passenger seat belt frayed and a small oil leak, but all were fixed under warranty. Have also now replaced the original Continental tyres at 25,000k with Atturos which seem even quieter with just as much grip and better steering feel. Would still hugely recommend this vehicle as one of the best SUV's around.

Amazing Car – I have had Mercs, BMW's, a Lexus and more and this is my first Porsche and holy moly, it is the most fantastic car i have ever had by a long way. Powerful, smooth, fast, quiet, luxurious, just pure quality. Only issue is the fuel economy is not great, and a touch on the expensive side, but who cares, you only live once. I'm in love.
