Quality control has dropped – Vet suggested this food for our mini schnauzer who has bouts of gastroenteritis. She has been eating it for probably a few of years, but have noticed over the past year or so that it is getting more and more pieces of bone in it. Some pieces are quite sharp. Quality control does not appear to be as good as it used to be. Our girl can only eat a single protein diet, so I will be looking around to see what else is available for her. Show details

Avoid this Terrible product – My Staffy was trembling this morning. Took him to the vet and was diagnosed as pancreatitis. He is now on medication. Hoping not to be hospitalised. I have been feeding him a small portion of the prime salmon w tapioca and didn't notice the deteriorating effects immediately. Few days later I noticed my dog drinking and wee alot. Blood test at the… Read more

vet confirmed my dog now has diabetes. I am convinced that my Staffy acquired pancreatitis and subsequently diabetes from eating the prime roll recommended by an interfering dog owner who gave me some prime duck and lamb roll which my dog ate the day before becoming severely ill. My dog has lost weight, is weak and needs constant care with the quality of his life greatly diminished. I strongly recommend pet owners avoid the prime rolls.

Works really well for my small, old dog – I was advised by the vet to give this food to my dog, who had been unwell for a couple of weeks. I am happy to say after several weeks on the Salmon and Tapioca my dog is again well. No sign of any adverse reactions with change in skin condition, no vomitting or diarrhea. He is happy, healthy and eating well again. He is on this food as his sole… Read more

diet. Initially he lost weight, which may have been due to him being unwell when he was changed to Salmon and Tapioca. He has regained a little of the weight since being on this food. Overall I would recommend this food.

Salmon-farming byproduct. It is what it is – We introduced this food as a part of a grain-free diet trial for our hyper-allergic Staffie. Initially K9 found the food very palatable but it had some disturbing effects on her gastrointestinal health over the four weeks we trialled it. Constipation, then diahorrea and ongoing flatulence. We discontinued use after four weeks because our dog… Read more

started refusing to eat it unless it was 'well disguised'. Like other commenters here, we noticed a 'dulling' of her coat and a dandruff-like shedding when using this product. I'd classify this as a 'filler food' with low nutrient value for money.

My dog loves it! – Our dog has Inflammatory Bowel Disease and the vet has recommended a low allergen low fat diet. Hence we have been using this single protein Chubb mixed with her Hypoallergenic Kibble for about 12 months. She loves it and has been healthy with no adverse reactions. The fat level of this product is quite low in any case. I wouldn’t use this food as the exclusive food for my dogs diet, we mix in other food to vary the diet. Show details

Dog ended up with pancreatitis – My 11yr old Sheltie was fed exclusively on the SPD Salmon and Tapioca roll. On the first roll she did fine, although was quite constipated. However, on the second roll she got very sick. My dog showed signs of illness in the first couple of days, so I stopped and put her on chicken and pumpkin and she got better. I then put her back on the SPD… Read more

Salmon and a couple of days later she was in emergency with an acute pancreatitis attack.

My Sheltie is healthy and does not have an pancreatic issues (the rolls were brought for my other dog who had cancer). She was fed exclusively on the SPD Salmon except for those couple of days she had the chicken. I've spent thousands now on hospitalisation and tests. The only contributing factor is the SPD Salmon.

I contacted the company over a month ago and am still waiting for their response.
