Proscenic 790T
MPN: 790T1 review
Not perfect but excellent value – I spent a long time researching robot vacuum cleaners. I had spreadsheets of features and prices. I read so many reviews it got confusing. In the end, I settled on the Proscenic 790t. I gave Ebay my credit card details and a week later my new vacuum cleaner arrived well packed and ready to plug in. I named it Persephone after the Greek Goddess of spring. My house definitely needs divine help when it comes to spring cleaning.
The unit is well made with an attractive black and gold finish. Setup was straight forward and after the initial charging period it was up and running. It's quiet, efficient and does exactly as advertised. I have two dogs that shed - a lot. It handles hair and other debris well. Unlike some other machines, this unit follows a systematic pattern rather than a random one. This means that floors are covered efficiently. My home is tiled throughout so I can't report on how it does with carpet.
Let's be realistic here. It's never going to be as good as a full sized vacuum cleaner. But it is at least as good as a full sized vacuum cleaner operated by a sullen teenager, with the added bonus of not having to fight with said teen. There may be better units out there, but not at this price point.
I'm happy to say that it's good value for money and I'd have no hesitation in buying this unit again.
Pros:
Very good price.
Well built.
Attractive (for a vacuum cleaner)
Excellent suction and collection of detritus.
Systematic patterns ensure entire floor is covered
The ultrasonic sensors mean the unit doesn't bash into walls and furniture.
Cons:
The app: Utterly useless, don't bother. The supplied remote control is fine. If you absolutely must have an app on your phone or connectivity with Alexa, you either need plenty of patience or get something else.
The instruction manual is written in a higher standard of Chinglish than many, but it's still terrible. Have a play with the remote, you'll soon work it out.
Stomach size: You can't help but compare this great little robot with a grazing animal. It only has a 500ml capacity collection container. This is pretty standard form most robot vacuums and is larger than many on the market. If you run the machine and empty it daily, it's fine, but don't expect to set and forget for a once a week clean.
The ultrasonic sensors mean the unit stops before it gets to walls or furniture leaving areas unswept. There is an edge function to follow walls around the house and this may help.
- Date Purchased:
So here we are a year later. I've now been through three sets of drive wheels. On the latest breakdown, one of the brand new wheels still will not turn suggesting that there is another fault withing the electronics of the machine.
Sadly I've returned to pushing a vacuum cleaner around by hand.

Update: After working flawlessly for just over a month, one of the wheels seized and the machine would no longer work. I sent an email to Proscenic who requested a video of what was happening. They diagnosed the fault and sent me a new set of drive wheels free of charge and without argument.
