Reactive Outdoor 3 Secs Tent
3 reviews
Good waterproofing: during a wet and windy night I experienced not a drop inside. It has two flaps (doors), so no climbing over your tent mate when entering or exiting. Two people +bags fit in comfortably and 3 fit reasonably well if you leave your bags outside. Ventilation is excellent with two large vents on the non-flap sides and then you can also open the top part of the the flaps (which are fly screened).
The bottom fabric is quite thin, so a I would always use the ground sheet (which was included). So this is already a very good tent even before considering its party piece which is the quick pitch. Including everything, you are done in 2-3 minutes with some practice. I don't know any double skin tent that beats that.
The only disadvantage over a regular double skin tent is the higher weight. So I wouldn't load it on my bicycle.
Purchased in for $209.95.
I was interested in buying the Reactive 3 second tent so emailed their info email about where the guy ropes are supposed to attach to the tent. The next day I emailed back and finally got a response saying photos and short video of how to attach guy ropes will be sent. I got the response, which was nice, but nil attachments. Emailed back and no reply. I am not sure if the communication positives I have read were paid but my experience is that communication is pretty slack.
There was a second hand large Reactive 3 second tent for sale locally, which us where I learned about this tent, but I wanted a new one. Thanks to this admin, I bought one second hand. It was the latest model, that was used once, for $50.
I will review the tent when I have camped in it a few times. One star for communication.
Follow-up · My RO 3 second tent was for sale locally by someone that had used it for 2 nights. As waterproofing is the most important feature in a tent for me, a tent needs to handle short heavy downpours, at least. I was excited after reading the reviews, but ended up being disappointed. The Reactive Outdoors (RO) advertising still shows the old model with the full mesh screen, in some of their onsite advertising, which is false advertising. There appears to be much less airflow in the new model. The new model only has a small meshed area on the doors and unzips to the side. Reactive Outdoors will not refund return postage if the tent is faulty, ie leaks, which is against Australian consumer laws. The ACCC and site has this information. Some reviews, off RO site, speak to the newer model still leaking, especially in wind driven rain. I need a tent that can stay dry during occasional unexpectedl thunderstorms. I have taken out the tent and hope to use it as a picnic sun shelter.
Follow-up · I forgot to add, that I left the tent out in my yard while lightly raining. The rain came inside the tent very quickly. Afterwards, when dry, I seam sealed the corners but the tent still leaked. This is a great good weather tent but I don't have confidence if any rain is around.

Seriously. I was very excited when I first got this tent. Purchased it specifically for a 2+ week outback/desert adventure bike ride. So it was a critical purchase. Set it up in my back yard... and... yes.... it sets up and packs away very quickly and easily. However.... this is where the fun starts. Set up beautifully on our first remote camping night (one of many)....... the major flaw and problem is.... the bloody condensation. EVERYTHING..... and I mean EVERYTHING was totally saturated from the condensation. My sleeping bag may as well have been soaked in a bath. Totally ruined my trip. I've made numerous comments on this on their numerous FaceBook posts. They seem to like responding to the people who make positive comments.... but guess what.... CORRECT.... they have never responded to my comments or reached out. The tent needs a FLY in order to keep the condensation out. They do not sell or supply a FLY. I threw mine in the bin. I was not prepared to sell it to anyone Be warned
Follow-up · There are no fixes. I asked manufacturer if they sold a fly cover - they don’t. It needs a full fly cover. Camping conditions were clear sky perfect. Just about everything in the tent got wet. Sleeping bag was saturated
