Absolutely stay well clear of real Insurance ,I had a policy for many years it just kept going up and up ,god for bid you miss a payment to ,you will get seriously harrassed ,calls texts emails no stop .then try to charge you extra on top of a missed payment .very happy I ceased both policy I had and now with a company who I pay half of what I was to this one ,oh and they don’t harass people . notified...but people with dementia don't answer emails and don't have a phone to call. 11 months later she died and they did not pay a cent after taking her money for her funeral for 10+ years. Real Life insurance ethics are disgraceful. Zero stars if possible. No care - just profited from her payments and our family were left with the funeral bill. Grief is horrible enough - they had no remorse. It was shown in their actions during this process.

Follow-up · They did contact us- but no refund, not a care- just took our mums 11 years of payments in their pocket and did not pay one penny of her funeral because her bank card numbers changed and she had dementia so thy claim they could not contact her. The policy itself was all fine and the cover appropriate, especially due to my old job. However, when it came to renewal time, the quote was still a lot higher than anyone else out there (even after I'd changed my job) for the same pay out etc. So I decided to cancel which I thought would be a straight forward process. customer services can't cancel, you have to receive a call back from a 'cancellation specialist' which took another 3 days only to be on the phone as he tried to sell me a never ending amount of options. After all that, I said I still wanted to cancel and he told me he can't do that either! I have to write a letter!
Why make the process so convoluted? I would have potentially come back to Real in the future if their prices were competitive, but after that experience, I won't be returning.

diagnosed until July 2025. It has really made her distressed more for the fact that she or i wont have enough for her funeral. They state that they make insurance easy, what a lot of bullocks.

I have been with Real Insurance for around 20 years. My experience has been you need to make sure that the money is available to them or you will get harassed with letters, emails, sms'd and phone calls even if the payment was made. You will be harassed until the payment has cleared on Real Insurances side. So look forward to 4 or 5 days of it. What a waste of time and admin costs! Show details

Real life insurance sucks you in with an attractive cover amount and the guarantee 5% of premium return each year. But it's an illusion as the premium amount paid goes up over $100 a month each year which they don't tell you but just leave it in the fine print. My premium started at $125 a month in 2009 and in 2025 it's now up to $1800 per month… Read more
$20,000 per annum. the projection is that in 9 years when I turn 70 I will be paying $3600 per month for coverage. The way that Real Life Insurance operate is to ensure you cannot afford your policy and therefore they benefit by keeping the funds you have already contributed to the policy when you have to stop paying the monthly premium amount as you can't afford it. SCAM SCAM SCAM and the best thing of all this unethical practice is legal.

These guys should be ashamed of themselves! Disgusting service and people! My mum had been paying her rates/fees for over 13 years, and they raised their fees to such a high amount, that it was higher than her rent, and she couldn't afford to pay!. She's retired, so she has no job, she's on the pension, and just wanted to have something to help… Read more
our family when she passes!. When they raised it, she tried to cancel her life insurance altogether, only to be told, that there's a clause in the contract where she'll be forfeiting all 33k of what she'd already paid them!!. Not a cent was given back to her! This is how they treat old, sick, jobless people on the pension in Australia! Absolutely degrading and unacceptable!. There shouldn't be any clause of that kind. They obviously enjoy taking advantage of sick, old people. I will never get life insurance with these guys, or any other company if that's their policy!
