Terrible support service - Calls are transferred to India - they are poorly trained and contradict each other. Moved my accounts to another company, very disappointed over the last few months.
I use the reckon payroll app which is easy to use once setup. I don’t have a great understanding of technology so when problems occur or changes are made I need to speak to a team member to resolve issues. Team members are polite and informative and offer good service.
Do not provide your credit card details when signing up for a trial version. After one month, if you forget to cancel, they may start charging you $10.00 every month. process is not clearly shown and may be hidden inside the app. You may even need to contact customer support to find out how to cancel.
It appears that the only option is to cancel the subscription, but your card details may still remain with them. This means they could continue using your card details later unless you notice the charges.
These types of hidden subscription charges are unfair and can result in customers losing money simply because they forgot to cancel before the trial ended.

Service and was told that I didn't get renewal advice because I didn't have the newest (Personal) software V31. I was never advised that I needed to update and had I received a renewal advice I would have done so. The other disturbing aspect is that I have been a customer for over 20 years, and while they are offering all sorts of new customers massive discounts, your loyalty counts for nothing. I advised I wished to complain and the robot at the other end said "that's not a complaint". What ???!!!! I reminded said robot I was the customer and I am complaining !!! I am complaining about extortionate fees, lack of advice to renew/update, lack of recognition of loyalty, clunky activation process etc etc. Why do I keep using it? Because they have my 20 + years of data. Dislike this mob intensely !!
Follow-up · I use a desktop so portability of data (to another device) is not possible. You can export data to excel. Every few uses the software will back up to a Quicken folder on your desktop (message appears). You can also back up to an external storage device. They claim you “own your data,” but in reality, you can’t access it without an active subscription. That’s not ownership — that’s dependency.

knowledge or consent. Shortly afterwards, I noted a $12 debit from my bank account, which is used for my Reckon One subscription.
Upon contacting Reckon, it became clear that a Reckon BDM had added these two businesses to my account. These businesses are clients of my accountant, to whom I had granted access, but I was never informed that they would be added to my subscription, nor did I authorise this action. As a result, the subsequent $12 charge was made without my approval.
Since 19 January, I have made multiple attempts to resolve this matter with Thomas and Lavu, but the refund has still not been processed. While the amount is small, the principle is important: the charge was made in error and without authorisation, and therefore must be reversed. It is now 7th March 2026!
I request that the $12 be refunded immediately: although this has been promised since 19/1/2026.
I write this as a review: so that any other customers of Reckon can be made aware of the poor service and follow up!

competitive software did not permit an easy transfer or referencing of this basic parameter and we committed to the Program
We were frustrated when account logging changed and didn't allow multiple users to log into a single account when the other registered users were out of the office or not in the same time zone. This added an additional cost for seats that could not be used over the full 24 hours by different registered users.
We also had initial resistance from our Accountants who were biased towards a competitor but that was resolved between our office and the reviewing accountant.
I needed help transferring QBooks to a new computer. Support called me on a Saturday and walked me through the process. I encountered superior knowledge of the product as well as patience and kindness. Thankyou !! Show reply

I had a tricky problem where my software did not recognise me as the administrator. It took a bit of time to sort out, and I still don't know why I suddenly wasn't but the Tech team got it sorted and I'm now full back in control of my Reckon client base. Show reply
The cost of using their STP product kept increasing each year beyond a reasonable price for a Micro business like mine and I certainly didn't find the product easy to use or the 'help desk' staff to be very helpful. I certainly wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

I have been using Reckon Payroll for a couple of years, initially because it was very fairly priced. I find the tech support to be very good and always helpful. I was disappointed that the rate went from $12 per month to $55 per month recently, which is very large increase. Show reply
Stay away from this company, we recently took over a business which used Reckon for their accounting. The Reckon company advised us that we have to pay for the whole year upfront costing more than $1,000 AUD. consultant over the phone & they advised we can get a refund. But neither the company offered us any refund or support after that conversation. They took our money & their excuse was that the license has been downloaded & used so will not give any refunds. Their customer service is the poorest & can not provide any resolution to the paying customer. I hope you feel really rich by robbing a small business.

There is no mobile phone app and the website has not been designed to be responsive to smaller screens.

migration, so I reached out to what I thought was migration team. A week later there was no response, so I contact customer service once again. I was told I made the request in the wrong way. I fail to see why the team within reckon that received my message did not just. forward it to the correct team, to be helpful. stock control and supplier bill entry, payments, banking, most business reports, information for accountants and the ATO. So what do you do when it wont allow you to login, you call the Reckon Technical Assistance phone number. That is what I did a week ago and all they have done is take screenshots of the error. After a week, we still cannot login to the program. We cannot invoice our customers, We cannot enter details for employee wage payments, we cannot use the program at all. 6 days ago I asked the 1st line "technical assistant to allow me to speak to someone from the next level because their assistance was next to useless, they had very little knowledge of the program and they tried to alter things on our computer such as deleting our browser history etc (they were logged in remotely) which were not related to the problem and without asking our permission 1st. They refused to contact the higher level of assistance to assist us and get Reckon Hosted working again. I have had better assistance since but still none from the higher level technicians, who need to check the back end of Reckon to cure our issue. How do we continue to run our business without being able to use reckon. It is affecting our cash flow terribly, we may have to stand down staff, if it continues we may have to close our business for a period as we have 1000's of different items that we sell and we cannot even access our price lists. So, yes a great program but for business use, you need a program that is reliable and that has fast, knowledgeable technical assistance, so that your business, customers and cashflow are not jeopardized.
Reckon Support Quickly Resolves Issue – Once again Reckon support excelled. A computer issue was quickly resolved with patience and courtesy (which I didn't understand all instructions given) and I was given a handy tip to find "lost" files.
Reckon it's a bit [Content Removed] so far! – EDIT: OK after some time using Reckon I will revise my review more favourably. After taking my feedback, Reckon did provide more assistance and the system has been working satisfactorily for me after they tweaked a few things and provided some better guidance.
