Horrible, avoid at all costs – total scam....do not use. We bought thousands of dollars worth of cards and several employees missed the activation date. Why is there an activation date anyway. Avoid at all costs.
The Gift Card that Rorts – Tried to check my balance before the card expired, the card number was not recognised by their system and then phoned 2 different contact numbers given, both claimed that the card was not issued by their company, appears like a complete rort to me, I will be complaining to my employer who gave the cards out as a gift. For good measure I will lodge a complaint with NSW fair trading.
What a scam!!! – I am in shock how disappointing this company behaves. How can the ACCC still let this company trade. The website doesn’t work nor the App to check balances. I am like all the others have lost money. No expiry or terms was shown on my giftcard. How do they not fall under the 3 year rule for cards? I am blown away how they can trade.

1st activation didn't work - 2nd one outside period - no money available – I had a card given to me at xmas - I'm 100% sure I activated it when I got it but when I went to use it 2 days outside the activation period, it said it wasn't activated. (Same thing happened last year - I activated it early, but when I went to use it, it said it wasn't activated - luckily it was still inside the activation window so I activated… Read more
it AGAIN). I contacted the company the next day, and got a bit fat raspberry - they would not reissue a card. I understand they have T's and C's but it was 2 days outside the validation period, and I believe they have a problem with activation not being recognized.
SCAMMERS – I received a gift card, which states on the back of the card, that the card is valid until the balance reaches zero; or; the 3 year expiry date is reached. I am unable to activate the card, and there is no mention on the card of an activation expiry date. There is also no mention of an activation expiry date in their terms and conditions online. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE..THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY. This card expires on 05/23

Appalling service, they couldn't care less (why would they, they have your money) – Tried to check the balance of cards , website would not work. Tried multiple time. Called the support no. after waiting 15 mins, got some guy could barley speak English and he could give a damn about my issue. Told him about the website not working , his response was "oh well try again tomorrow". Looking at the other reviews the only way to get… Read more
these companies to improve (as they already have your money) is to go back to the companies that give these gift cards out as rewards offerings and tell them how it reflects on them.
Cannot activate card! – What a scam of a company. Can't activate the card, call the 1800 number, on hold for 8 minutes, line cuts off. Call three times, same thing. Call the next day... the line is busy and won't even connect. Wow..... I'd recommend that everyone that has a bad experience go to the ACCC.
Past Activation Date – Unlike other gift cards, you cannot really save it to use and since it was my first time using a card that required an activation, I was not aware of the activation period and went past deadlines, 2 days in a row I have been trying to contact customer support but no answer and the phone would not even ring. I only could contact the sales team… Read more
which only directed me to customer support. I even email customer support but still no answer. Very poor service and poor quality of product. Just using loopholes to try scam people. I was stupidly saving $150 and got disappointed that i could nothing with them in the end.
Unethical company that unnecessarily restricts activation date – I bought $2000 worth of cards for my team, only to later discover the activation date was 6 months. Ended up burning $900 worth of gift cards. When I contacted them, their response was pathetic. Basically they were 'exempt from the 3year legislation'. Disgusting, unethical business model. The more people don't use them and impact their business the better.
Biggest rort ever – IGodirect seems to have a better Rort than printing your own money. Our company spends endless amounts on gift cards then if they are not activated iGodirect pockets the money, And I mean lots!!! Most unprofessional and I advise to steer clear from these criminals. #Not there money but they steal from you!
Outside the activation period, inside the expiry period - How I approached this and received most of the value – IN SHORT: We managed to negotiate with the company and receive most of the face value of the card when outside the activation period but inside the expiry date. Here's my story: My wife and I received a $200 reward card provided through 'True rewards' (aka 'Rewards Come True' & 'iGo Direct Group'). Whilst we knew it would expire at some point… Read more
we assumed that we would have at least a year to use the card and as such placed it in a draw for a rainy day (this was mid 2022, around this time it was mandated that gift cards must last at least 3 years). About 9 months later we decided to use the card and discovered that it was within the expiry date but couldn't be activated as it was outside the activation date. :(
I contacted the company by phone and they confirmed the card was outside the activation period and the date could not be changed. I asked the person about what happens to the money in this case and she provided me with an email address should I want to take it further... as I had some spare time, I thought I would!
Following this I emailed the company to try and find out why the cards have an activation expiry and what happens to the money when the card is inside the 'card expiry' or 'valid thru' date (understanding that a card that is outside both dates would obviously have the funds forfeited.) After several emails back and forth, I was informed that the activation date was for 'security purposes' which seemed odd to me as I have credit cards with much larger limits and much longer expiry dates but hey, my knowledge on card security is limited!
What I did take from the situation was that the money still seemed to be sitting in some sort of escrow environment waiting for the actual expiry date and eventual forfeiture. As such, I informed the person helping me that I understood the security implications and would be happy if they simply re-issued the card such that I could use my reward.
After much toing and froing, which oddly involved explaining why I had not used the card earlier (as if that should matter...), the person assisting me suggested that as a 'good will gesture' they would reissue the card however there would be a $20 cost and as such the card would have a value of $180. I can quite understand the cost; by the time I have spoken to someone and they had responded to a number of emails and resent another card we have easily eroded $20 of value (probably more) and in the interest of bringing this to a close, I agreed to these terms and I was informed that the card would be with me in 2 - 3 weeks.
3 weeks later the card had not arrived, luckily I had anticipated this and placed the date in my diary as a reminder to send another email. I was assured that the card had recently been posted and would arrive in the next week which turned out to be true.
I believe in being firm but fair in these situations. I refuse to yell, scream or swear as I find it causes the other side to lock up and become unresponsive, which is of no help to me. I would very much recommend taking this approach if you have the same issue. I also recommend that companies do not use this business to provide rewards as I feel the activation date is unreasonable and provides a negative experience. If you choose to use this company to provide the card, I recommend front end staff explicitly telling the recipients to activate the card immediately to avoid this trouble.
I very much hope this was of help.
Buyer Beware! – This gift card provider is a scam. Was gifted an EFTPOS card and 3 weeks late to activate the card even though it was valid to use for another 6 months. Contacted customer service and advised in no uncertain terms twice that it was my fault and they would not honour it so this company benefits from all the money lost to consumers who forget to… Read more
activate their card even if a day late. Should be illegal! Buy your gift cards from somewhere else to avoid disappointment.

Unethical business model (AKA scam) – I got one of their VISA gift cards as cashback from my gas provider for installing a new gas heater. The card has a printed expiry date of 1 year and only indicates card must be activated (no activation expiry date noted) before using it. To keep it safe, I only proceeded to activate the card once I was about to use it, only to be told (after… Read more
calling their number and emailing them) that the activation period of 3 months has ended. Money lost, they claimed that: "The dates are hard coded into the magnetic strip on the gift card, once the dates have been reached the gift card can’t be used.", no replacement offered. I went back to read the T&C of the cashback promotion and it was only when you read down to item No. 18 of the list that an activation expiry date is listed somewhere in a paragraph.
This is obviously a modus operandi of their business model to profit from the edge of what is legal. How much money is being 'stolen' by 'hiding' an activation expiry date on top of the card expiry date?
Unethical breach of Consumer Law – Our company purchased multiple gift cards (totalling $2,400.00) to use as gifts and sales incentives. They were bought at the beginning of 2020, then Covid hit. These are gift cards and the Consumer law states that any gift card purchased after November 2019 MUST have 3 years expiry. These cards from Rewards Come true do not have 3 years… Read more
expiry on them and were only given 12 months until expiry. They refuse to accept this and say their cards are exempt from this ruling. They have pocketed $2,400 and are in breach of Consumer Law . They are crooks!!
Do not buy any gift cards or purchase anything from them.
Terrible- do not use especially not for employees rewards!!! – Terrible company! They posted the cards to our branch in NSW with no registered post. The cards have gone missing, and they not reply to email or phone. The other cards received are impossible to activate. Also they kept emailing the wrong person instead of myself. Very bad customer service, never never again. I will sue them for the lost money and time.
Terrible service!! – Never ever purchase a gift card from true rewards. I had an issue with the card and there was no expiry date on the card. They said that’s no their problem and refused to even look at my card. I lost $700. Terrible customer service and system. They should close this business. Hopeless!
Companies and buyers beware of the small print – I was given a card with less than 6 months to be activated and used. Unfortunately, I was not able to use the card within that period and it is now expired. Upon contacting Come True,, they did not offer an alternative to be able to use my gift card.
Very disappointing - Do not purchase – I called about a card I believed I had activated but apparently had not. The customer service person repeatedly read from the terms and conditions and did nothing to assist. The expiry of the card is well within the allotted time, just not the activation end date. Never seen anything like it and would strongly recommend avoiding this greedy company. They've pocketed $100 and provided nothing.
Unethical Business - Totally Avoid! – Same story! Got a rewards card that we couldn't activate on time. Called them, as they said that that money's gone due to the expiry date! They said it's in the fine print of their T&Cs. NB: Just seen over 60+ reviews all 1-star rated. How can this go on?
Buyer beware – They may disclose that you have to activate your card by a certain date. What they don’t tell you prior to purchasing is that the activation date is six months prior to the expiry of the card. This is believe is deceitful and misleading.
Would have given 0 stars – Like they gave us 0$$. Due to a death in the family we were overseas when card was received. By the time we came home to activate it it was past the short activation date. They won’t even disclose where the funds go. Rude “customer service” member. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Disgusting business practise – Like many others have said, they try to fool you with their short activation dates, after which point all funds are forfeited and they get away with your money
Scammers – As others have already said, this company gets away with taking money by having a short "activation" period after which all the money is gone and not able to be recovered. Rang the phone number for assistance and was told there was nothing that could be done despite the expiry date on the card being in the future. Avoid at all costs.
Thieves – Gift cards are legally supposed to be valid for 3 years - but this scamming company gets around the law by having a limited time on the “activation”. Thieves and scammers.
Outrageous – My husband tried to activate his card online which was unsuccessful. He then rang to activate it and was refused because apparently there's another name pertaining to the card. It was given to him by his employer. He was not helped, but left to suck it up and forfeit the money. Why should he. I went to their website to see what's what and there… Read more
was a link to talk to an expert. However, this can only happen if you firstly pay $2. No way. So back to square one. I will take it up with Fair Trading if the situation is not resolved by the activation cut off date on the 30th June
Buyer Beware! – I thought all Gift Cards were supposed to have 3 years expiry, however this Company says they don't have to follow legislation & only give 12 months. So whilst times are tough for consumers & struggling families these days, this Company is raking in cash for all expired cards!
Rip off – Card was hacked online After investigation it was determined to be fraudulent activity They took $100 off the balance to investigate! What a rip off for something that was a gift for me
Lost $250 – Lost $250 worth of Gift cards due to the stupid short activation date of 3 months. All other gift cards have 1-4 years expiry so I didn’t think i had to use these up so quickly. Turns out you do!!!! My cards were deactivated and lost $250.. customer service were useless and couldn’t help at all! DO NOT PURCHASE THESE CARDS.
Rip off scammers – Activation date expired by 3 days and was told sorry it’s in terms and conditions So I lost my money even though it still has 5 months before expiry date
$10000 gone doggie company – I activated $10000 worth of 3 gift card and when I try to use it money is gone. They would not give money back . I’m going to lodge a complaint with ASIC against this company.
Scam and breach of Australian Consumer Law – Similar to others, I was issued with a Visa card handled by Rewards Come True. Tried to use the card within 12 months, it didn't work. When i called Rewards Come True, they's advised me that the card was used to purchase something from amazon and only has $7 left on it. They've offered to replace the card, but they said that they would have to… Read more
deduct $50. this is despite the fact that I (teh consumer) have done nothing wrong and it's their system that got compromised (or pergaps, they have misappropriated my funds themselves). I'm taking this further.
