horrible, terrible and unsupportive experience that was. The agent flat out said to me over the phone, on a recorded line, that she didn’t want to help me and that if I called back it could be someone else’s problem. I was completely gobsmacked…. which doesn’t happen to me very often!
The whole experience from booking on their website site all the way through to boarding was truly a nightmare. If you ever end up flying with this airline I hope for your sake that you don’t have to interact with anyone who actually works there. If you do, be prepared to be abused by the company you’re paying through the nose to do business with.
For all with upcoming flights, and until we actually get an alternative option…

Original booked flight was 8:45am and was pushed back to 11am. And another delay and the flight was pushed back to 3pm and another delay which finally push through to 4:30pm. already decided to take ground transportation as had activities booked which didn’t want to lose.
On call to get refund from bookings was given run around and told to go to a different site for refunds (couldn’t process as a different company holds the money), waited over an hour, with no joy on response, so cancelled the flight charge through my credit card. Unfortunately there is no direct customer service or email to contact Rex.
This was not a budget ticket, > $400 for a one way flight Syd to Moruya, so a had reasonable expectation of service.
Since Rex was sold to an overseas entity the systems and admin service standard has dropped and clearly don’t have contingency to manage when issues do happen. I feel, for the great pilots and support teams but the new owners standards don’t seem to be vested to the Australian market.
Best Airline, Service & PRICE – Best Service!! Best Prices!!!! Brisbane to Sydney return. Quick check in, helpful staff, 23kg luggage included in the fare price and onboard snack included. I will NO longer fly with any other airline if I have Rex as an option to fly with in future. Why pay rediculous prices when you don’t need to. Rex offers excellent service – Flew return to Sydney from Adelaide on Rex, with an upgrade to Business. Not expensive. Really excellent service, not fussy, just very happy, helpful and courteous staff. The Boeing 737 aircraft was clean and well maintained. Highly recommended. Show details

a refund (which I'm unsure how that's even legal) or any support to find accommodation when you've been waiting since 4:30pm for your flight for it to be delayed 3 times then finally cancelled at 10pm. The monopoly they have on regional airlines is disgusting with the ticket prices being more expensive than some flights on Qantas to Darwin. The airplanes are older than me, I'd be surprised if they even meet standards of safety to fly. This is someone who has been flying weekly for over 15 years. I now drive the 450kms and stay the week. accommodation and fuel compared to the flight and being stranded much a cheaper option.

while they decide to board TWO flights after ours on time with no issues. It’s an hour flight they could’ve delayed the other 2 flights, done our flight and returned to do the remaining flights. Common sense let alone the fact there’s been ZERO communication to anyone. I’ve missed an 18th birthday dinner, my son’s birthday and still none the wiser as to when or IF the flight is going to leave! To the 2 woman operating the counter they too are none the wiser either - this is a F ING joke ! Jetstar flights are cheaper and more organised than this and that’s saying something. Thankful for my 30k followers whom are going to have a field day when I post a video about this, rant over.
Follow-up · There was no support, it seems there was a staffing issue aka noone turned up so they scrambled to find another pilot. Obviously we all missed plans we had for that night.
Have been travelling two and from Perth with Rex for over a year now , lately there are more cancelled flights , changed flight times , and delays then there are smooth flights , they need to do something better or someone needs to take over Show details
Follow-up · When Rex cancels flights it cause massive disruptions to my schedule that includes loosing work and or my time at home away from work , it would be great airline if it could over come all these plane issues and have enough planes and stuff to run smoothly

Flight pricing was competitive. I am unsure why some review sites contain low ratings in the 3s for Rex ( I haven’t read them). All I can say is that so far I have been most impressed, especially after an horrendous return flight from Brisbane with another airline that took me three days to recover from : 3 separate significant delays due to scheduling, then a flat tyre, and finally an engine that would not start. Flight diverted from Sydney to Dubbo due to weather, which I understand can occur for safety reasons. The issue was Rex’s handling of passengers afterward. assistance or reimbursement process was offered. Several passengers, including myself, were forced to rent a car and drive from Dubbo to Orange at our own expense. Rex later relied entirely on its Conditions of Carriage to deny responsibility. Weather disruptions happen. Customer service and passenger care during disruptions is what matters most — and in this case it was extremely poor.
I've never seen an airline break down so much. Getting a flight from Western Queensland is like running the gauntlet, u just don't know if the plane is ever going to make it. If I could rate Rex less than 1 star I would. Out of the last 6 flights I’ve had, 4 have been cancelled or delayed. The planes are getting so old they do not make it off the ground 80% of the time. I fly with this airline because I have no other choice on this route, but every experience with their customer service has been disappointing. Both airport staff and phone support come across as if they do not enjoy their jobs. The attitude is often dismissive, rude, and lacking basic respect for customers

This isn’t the first time we’ve felt treated differently. On our flight last August from Sydney to Port Macquarie, we were seated in the last row and weren’t offered any drinks at all, despite the rest of the cabin being served.
We hope Rex reviews their staff training, as equal and respectful service should be standard for all passengers.
If I could give negative stars, I would. Rex rescheduled my Perth–Albany flight from 8:40am to the evening with no prior notification until I actually got to the airport for check in along with zero guarantee my luggage would even arrive with me! Their refusal to offer any refund, despite the entire mess being the result of their mismanagement is absolutely ludicrous. (One-way flight was $360!!) If you have the option to walk, take it. Rather stick pins in my eyes.
On the 29th of October 2025 we returned from Malaysia which was an 10 hour flight, We supposed to fly from Sydney to Port Macquirie at 9 am. We were told there was a 2 hour delay because the plane broke down. They gave us a $10 voucher (coffee was $7) and we left at 5PM. 8 hours at the bl... airport. unaccompanied minor. Today the staff at Coffs Harbour went above and beyond when we were running late due a mechanical issue with our car. We could have very easily been denied the flight and would have accepted that. The staff and crew, however, zipped her through just in time so as not to miss the flight. We are so very grateful for their care and understanding. We didn't even have to beg. It was a simple yes or no and they just made it happen.
I much prefer to fly Rex out of Melbourne. There's never many people in their waiting area and it's nice and quiet. Compared to Jetstar with the hundreds of people everywhere, the Rex lounge feels like I've upgraded to the business class lounge. Definitely worth paying the extra for less stress in figuring out which gate I'm meant to be at and which line is for which gate. At Rex you're a VIP; At Jetstar, you're cattle. Show details
You’ve got a 50/50 chance of this airline ever taking off in time. There’s a pretty good chance they’ll just cancel your flight completely. What happens when something is run by administrators. F-wits.
I was bumped from Rex flight ZL6776 (Albury to Sydney) on 10/9/2025. in Albury with no further flights to Sydney until the next day. I was given a seat on the ZL6762 flight the following morning, but the airline would not compensate me for overnight accommodation in Albury (I live in Sydney not Albury), meals and/or transfers from/to the airport. The only offer of compensation was a free one-way flight using Rex in the future. I did not want the free flight I wanted the accommodation and transfers but Rex refused saying it is not their policy to compensate customers in this way.
I write this on 11/9/2025 while at Albury Airport waiting for my flight to Sydney. This flight was supposed to depart at 6:30am but then it got rescheduled to 7:30am and now it has been rescheduled again for 9am departure. I feel like I am hostage at this airport. I have not had breakfast and Rex is not offering any breakfast at the airport cafeteria either.
This is the worst airline experience of my life. Rex is in financial trouble. It deserves to collapse when it treats its customers this way.
My recommendation is to only fly Rex if it is the only airline servicing a region. If you fly Rex, you're risking this being a more expensive trip than what you originally paid for the flights. It's not worth it.
