This is working out to be the worst decision when choosing a hot water system. I spent some time looking at reviews and discovering heat pump units and I can say don't believe any of them unless the Rheem we have is completely faulty. After the initial install issues from the plumber damaging the first unit trying to get it through the house and having to have a replacement unit delivered, which are unrelated to Rheem , after initial fill the water coming from the unit has a strong smell similar to petrol. we have flushed the unit by running water through the system leaving taps on but 24 hr later although now smelling less it still leaves a smell on your skin and has a whiff of petrol. further to this , after having a long shower at 900am then cleaning the kitchen then someone pulling a bath and a shower at 12, the temp dropped to 31 and an hour later only had recovered to 45. This unit is supposed to support 6 people which is completely miss leading. we previously had a Rheem stellar 130l gas with rapid recovery of up to 330ltrs and with 2 kids and 2 adults taking extended showers and baths and having no care for the fact we didn't have instant , we never once had temperature drops or ran out of hot water. We never had to worry about hot water consumption and now it seems we will be revolving our lives around who can have a long shower followed by a bath ect ect. The hot water systems ability to provide for the family will now have to be in our minds when it never was previously. What upsets me also is Rheems response when telling them our water smells like petrol and they seemed disinterested and will now take a week before a tech can attend and inspect. We should have gone back to the trusted and capable gas storage. Who know what sort of chemicals are in our hot water supply in the mean time. This unit does not give you 280 ltrs of hot water , its more like 100 don't be mislead like we were.

JR Gas and Water as a company caught my eye based on great reviews. I’m usually a bit skeptical if all I can see are 5 star reviews but I took a chance and was not disappointed. Easy to communicate to sort out what I needed for my home. I got a new Rheem Ambipower 280L hot water system installed by Jo and Kris and they also sorted some plumbing issues in my new home. Installation was booked quickly and completed without fuss. Highly recommend this company for installation of hot water systems. The heat pump itself has been a dream come true compared to our old system. Works well and is super quiet! Hot water always supplied, no fluctuations in heat and copes when we have visitors! Very happy with the unit.
Follow-up · This system goes above and beyond my old gas hot water system. This system is reliable and we have had up to 8 people in the house and still have hot water for everyone. No spikes in our power bill since installation

Recently our heat pump hot water service started running 24 hours a day, using lots of power. We decided to replace it with a Rheem AmbiPower 280e Heat Pump. This was recommended and supplied by the Melbourne Heating and Cooling company which is in Pakenham Victoria. The unit works flawlessly and supplies a great amount of hot water. If fully drained it reheats in approx. 4 hours. The crew from Melbourne heating and cooling did a fantastic job replacing our faulty old unit with the new one from Rheem. Especially as it was an urgent replacement due to old one failing. We even managed to receive a hot water rebate in the Victorian Solar Homes Program. Very impressed with both the new hot water system and the company installing it.

Really good experience from the guys at JR Gas & Water! Was a bit sceptical with the volume of reviews but they are the real deal. Had a good chat with Charlie when I met with him and I think the reason why these guys do so well is that they enjoy their jobs and it shows in their work. Would recommend these guys to anyone. Boys accidentally cut the aircon drain that was going along the old system but you get that with the big jobs. Purchased a "Rheem MDc AmbiPOWER 280L Heatpump Top Mount" for reference.

Best Hot Water System – Installed by JR Gas & Water who did a fantastic job. Heat Pump is the latest model from Rheem and so far has been flawless providing us with nice hot water and a big reduction in our power bills. It is very quiet as well. LCD allows you to set the time of day for the heat pump to run which is great.
