The Haier Monoblock Heat Pump Water Heater is highly regarded by homeowners for its exceptional energy efficiency and whisper-quiet operation. It is frequently cited as an ideal solution for those transitioning from gas or traditional electric systems, particularly when paired with solar power to achieve near-zero running costs. While the hardware is praised for its build quality and performance in cold climates, the accompanying smartphone app is a recurring point of frustration due to its limited functionality.
Pros
- Exceptional Efficiency: Users consistently report significant reductions in energy bills, with some noting a 75% improvement over old electric element systems. It integrates seamlessly with solar PV setups, allowing households to heat water for free during peak sun hours.
- Whisper-Quiet Operation: A major standout feature is the low noise level; many reviewers noted the unit is barely audible from inside the house and is significantly quieter than competing heat pump brands.
- Reliable Performance in Cold Climates: Despite concerns about heat pump technology in winter, users in cold regions like Canberra and the Adelaide Hills report consistent hot water and reliable performance even in sub-zero temperatures.
- Generous Warranty and Build Quality: The 7-year tank and 5-year parts/labour warranty provides significant peace of mind, with many users complimenting the sturdy, modern, and "sleek" aesthetic of the monoblock design.
Cons
- Limited App Functionality: The SmartHQ app is frequently described as "basic" or "rudimentary." Users are frustrated that they cannot set timers or view energy usage statistics via the app, requiring them to use the physical control panel for these essential configurations.
- Fiddly Control Panel Access: Several reviewers highlighted that the protective plexiglass cover over the unit's LCD screen is difficult to remove without breaking nails or using tools, making manual adjustments inconvenient.
- Slow Recovery Time: Compared to instantaneous gas or traditional electric systems, the heat pump takes longer to reheat a full tank (often 3–5 hours), which may require households to manage their usage or utilise the "Boost" mode during high-demand periods.
- Physical Footprint: The unit is noted to be quite large and "bulky," particularly the 330L model, which may pose installation challenges in homes with limited outdoor space.
Verdict
The Haier Monoblock Heat Pump is an excellent investment for households looking to electrify and reduce utility costs, especially those with existing solar systems. While the app and physical interface design could be improved, the unit’s core performance—characterised by reliability, high water temperature, and industry-leading noise levels—makes it a top contender in the heat pump market.
Great first impressions We've had the Haier HP250M1-U1 installed for a short time and so far we're very happy with it. The control features are good as is the mobile phone application. The user panel on the unit is large and easy to read. It is quiet and efficient and the temperature is stable. Even in winter it is only using the compressor/heat pump (not the heating element) and only takes a few hours to reheat the water during the day by our solar system, so… Read more
will be very cheap to run. It was 3 degrees overnight, yet the temp only fell from 60 degree the night before to about 53 degrees in the morning, then only took 2 hours to reheat. It also has cable interface for dry-contacts on a solar inverter, could use this at a later stage to ensure you are only using excess solar power (like when you might be charging your car or other devices during the day) but probably not necessary considering how efficient it is. The installers also did a great job, only took half a day for the old solar boosted instant gas Rinnai heater to be removed, and the new Haier put in the same spot.
Selection of the 250 litre unit was right size for us. Our installation was a step in changing over from gas to electricity. Hot water supply has been very good as installed, but as our mains pressure is 700kpa so we are also having a pressure reducing valve installed on thee meter to maintain 500kpa. This unit has an acceptable noise level. The… Read more
real proof of the unit will be in reviewing our quarterly gas bill reduction and the minimal increase in our electrical usage over the coming year.

We changed from Gas to Electricity so we could run this unit off our solar. The unit is working as expected with no issues so far. The only negative is the App that is associated with this product. It's very basic and limited on what you can actually do remotely. Show details

Easy to operate, especially the apps on the mobile; it is a user-friendly system. The unit looks good. It is a very quiet system and, cost-wise, is very affordable. Significantly reduced my power usage.

Haier Monoblock heat pump water heater installation was professional and timely — the unit performs reliably with excellent build quality, and the after-sales service has been responsive and helpful. Highly recommended.
I got it installed about week a go by Adelaide Hills Hot Water. Jace did an amazing job and the heater is really good. Hot water is available any time, it consumes only 500watts when running. Runs totally on my solar system bringing the hot water cost to 0. Can't be happier than that. Show details
The product was recently installed by Accredited Power Saver they were superb on the installation service. The heat pump looks modern and efficient, the temperature is constant during the winter weather as well. The phone app is simple and easy to use.I am happy with the product, Show details
Installed on a chilly cloudy day and a few hours later the water was hot enough for a shower. The noise level is a low frequency hum which is reasonable, but its not outside a bedroom. There are a few options for integrating with excess solar - either via a signal or via a timer - it only draws around 600w. We've only had it for a few days but it… Read more
seems to do what it should and had had no issues connecting to it with the phone app. From the app you can set the run mode or the temperature - but not the timings in eco mode, you need to use the panel on the unit for that. The display panel comes with a black cover to protect it from sun damage. Time will tell...
Just had this bad baby installed today looks sweet and cannot wait to see the savings. Accredited Power installed and now it is heating up! Connected with an app on your phone you can change from auto mode to eco mode to vacation mode you control when you went it to heat up. Takes some tie to heat up on install date so be prepared. It has an electric plate when need (no sun days). Hoping this baby saves me on my electricity bills! Show details

I purchased the Haier 250L Heat Pump (HP250M1U1P) to replace an older electric storage water heater. My main goal was to lower our energy usage. On that front, it has been fantastic; our energy usage dropped significantly after installation. Here is a quick breakdown of my experience after 1 month: Pros: Energy usage decreased… Read more
dramatically—almost like magic.
The transition from the old electric storage heater system to the heat pump was seamless.
The smart system allows me to monitor the temperature and perform basic tasks remotely.
There is a "Boost" option that allows the water to heat up quickly, which can be controlled directly from the app.
Cons:
We did run into a limitation one day when 4 people took baths back-to-back, and we ran out of hot water. It took some time to heat back up, though thankfully the boost option helps on heavy-use days.
Sometimes I can hear a bit of operational noise coming from the outdoor unit, though it isn't a dealbreaker.
I had to physically walk to the back of the house where the heat pump is located to set the hours for economical mode.
Overall, it’s a solid, energy-efficient water heater as long as you manage your hot water usage or utilize the boost function when hosting!

standard with a few things which will require fixing. The pressure relief valve which was previously plumbed to sewer was reconnected but the heat pump drain hose was just tucked down behind the unit and leaves large puddles of water on the concrete.
I wasn't at home when the installation was completed and as such was not shown any of the operation of the unit. So after downloading the APP and reading through the Manual it was a fairly simple process to get the unit online which gives you the ability to monitor the temperature and activate the electric booster element if required in a high demand situation.
Unit has been operational now for a little over a week and have not had any issues with running out of hot water at this stage or having to use the electric booster element. One thing that also should be explained which I could not find in the manual is the deadband on the heat pump which I believe is set to 10 Degrees which means if the set point is 60 Degrees the tank will not start reheating the water until it drops below 50 degrees. This usually happens after the sun goes down and you are then re heating from the grid or a battery instead of free power from a solar system.
Excellent Heat Pump. Quiet, Efficient, and Great Value I recently installed the Haier HP330M1-U1 330L Monoblock Heat Pump, and I have been very impressed with it. hot water system. One of the biggest surprises is how quiet it is. I expected it to be much noisier, but it operates very quietly and is barely noticeable.
The 330L capacity is perfect for our family of four and provides plenty of hot water, even during busy mornings and evenings. I also like that it uses natural R290 refrigerant and has a modern, clean design. The controls are simple to use, and the overall build quality feels solid.
I installed it alongside my solar system, so it can make good use of excess solar generation during the day, helping to reduce both our electricity usage and overall energy costs.
Overall, this heat pump offers excellent value for money. If you are looking to replace an older gas or electric hot water system with a more energy efficient solution, I would highly recommend the Haier HP330M1-U1.
Pros:
Very energy efficient Extremely quiet operation Plenty of hot water for a family Good build quality Easy to use controls Great value for money

So far, so good - the unit is working well. It's quieter than I expected - we're not aware it's running at all from inside the house. It's still on 24hr Auto mode at the moment, then I'll try out the timer mode to heat at off-peak times only. Show details
Installed the Haier HP330M1-U1 330L heat pump last week, and so far it's performing well. The unit itself seems solid and is heating efficiently. through trial and error rather than following the manual. The Android app also isn't very intuitive; it feels underdeveloped and doesn't make monitoring or adjusting settings as easy as it should be. Overall, the hardware itself is doing its job well, but Haier could improve the user experience around setup and app support. Will update this review after a few more weeks of use.
Once I managed to secure an installation date, the actual process went pretty quickly. It was all managed very efficiently and neatly. We have two people and two dogs, so we use a fair bit of hot water. This unit has had no issues keeping up with our daily needs as long as we stagger the hot water use. to specific running times to ensure we have hot water available all the time. Even with it running automatically whenever it needs to, and even though we do not have a solar system installed, my electricity bill has remained pretty stable with no unreasonable hikes even in the middle of winter. When the heat pump is running and heating up the water, it is actually pretty quiet as it is located at the far side of the house, so we don't really hear much of it at all from inside. Overall, it has been running great and we are very happy with the system. (Note: I am leaving this review to claim a promotional reward from Haier.)
We (a family of 4) have been using this heat pump for about 5 months, and no issue at all. There is enough hot water for daily shower even in the depth of winter. The only small issue for me is I cannot find someone to help install the PV communication cable, so can use my soloar panel automatically. Show details
