The Haier Monoblock Heat Pump Water Heater is highly regarded by homeowners for its exceptional energy efficiency and whisper-quiet operation. It is frequently cited as an ideal solution for those transitioning from gas or traditional electric systems, particularly when paired with solar power to achieve near-zero running costs. While the hardware is praised for its build quality and performance in cold climates, the accompanying smartphone app is a recurring point of frustration due to its limited functionality.
Pros
- Exceptional Efficiency: Users consistently report significant reductions in energy bills, with some noting a 75% improvement over old electric element systems. It integrates seamlessly with solar PV setups, allowing households to heat water for free during peak sun hours.
- Whisper-Quiet Operation: A major standout feature is the low noise level; many reviewers noted the unit is barely audible from inside the house and is significantly quieter than competing heat pump brands.
- Reliable Performance in Cold Climates: Despite concerns about heat pump technology in winter, users in cold regions like Canberra and the Adelaide Hills report consistent hot water and reliable performance even in sub-zero temperatures.
- Generous Warranty and Build Quality: The 7-year tank and 5-year parts/labour warranty provides significant peace of mind, with many users complimenting the sturdy, modern, and "sleek" aesthetic of the monoblock design.
Cons
- Limited App Functionality: The SmartHQ app is frequently described as "basic" or "rudimentary." Users are frustrated that they cannot set timers or view energy usage statistics via the app, requiring them to use the physical control panel for these essential configurations.
- Fiddly Control Panel Access: Several reviewers highlighted that the protective plexiglass cover over the unit's LCD screen is difficult to remove without breaking nails or using tools, making manual adjustments inconvenient.
- Slow Recovery Time: Compared to instantaneous gas or traditional electric systems, the heat pump takes longer to reheat a full tank (often 3–5 hours), which may require households to manage their usage or utilise the "Boost" mode during high-demand periods.
- Physical Footprint: The unit is noted to be quite large and "bulky," particularly the 330L model, which may pose installation challenges in homes with limited outdoor space.
Verdict
The Haier Monoblock Heat Pump is an excellent investment for households looking to electrify and reduce utility costs, especially those with existing solar systems. While the app and physical interface design could be improved, the unit’s core performance—characterised by reliability, high water temperature, and industry-leading noise levels—makes it a top contender in the heat pump market.
I'm completely new to heat pump technology and was very happy with the initial explanation of how it all worked . Installation was spot on as was the after sales service. Everything operating exactly as it should. Installed during winter and at this stage the unit draws little power (on solar) even on cloudy days and easily produces hot water on demand. I also have the added security of a larger capacity tank. I'm certainly a satisfied customer. Show details
Went through Accredited Power Save to replace my electricity hot water, install was smooth and the heat pump looks easy to use and comes with Wifi capability. Instantly i notice there isn't any noises except standing next to it, still checking on how to set the heat pump to only run during cheaper electricity period. looking forward to cheaper electricity bills from hot water uses. This is a highly efficient, top-tier product that makes water heating at your home much cheaper, easier and gives you more control. I couldn't be more impressed with how well it is functioning. A huge step-up from gas water heating, saving you hundreds in bills each year. I had no issue with water temperature fluctuation while using this unit.… Read more
Considering I have only just installed it now at the beginning of winter, it is showing it is working harder than usual. I am interested to see how it will work in the hot months.

the unit runs and the noise is barely noticeable. As a household focused on reducing energy consumption, we were looking for a hot water solution that would help lower running costs without compromising performance, and the Haier heat pump appears to deliver exactly that.
It also seems particularly well suited to Australian homes, especially for households with solar power systems. The energy-efficient heat pump technology offers a practical way to reduce electricity usage while maintaining a reliable supply of hot water throughout the year.
Although it’s still early days, our first impressions have been excellent. The build quality feels solid, the performance has met our expectations, and we’re very happy with our decision to choose the Haier Monoblock Heat Pump Water Heater. Based on our experience so far, we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient, modern, and cost-effective hot water solution.
Accredited Power Saver replaced my 20yo gas hot water storage system after recently having solar panles installed. We have set the 250L Haier heat pump to run on timer from 10am to 3pm, it heats up fully from solar even on a cloudy day and is sufficient for the day for 4 people. Easy to switch to 24 hours heating mode or multiple timers if we have… Read more
visitors and need more hot water. All new valves were included and the tempering valve seems to work well with the one daily heating cycle, even when the tank temperature has dropped the water out of the tap is hot.
I chose this unit due to the competitive price, features and the many good user reviews. I have it set to run between 10am-4pm each day as my energy plan charges low rates during that time. This makes an incredible cost saver. I've noticed a substantial improvement in performance compared with my 15 year old HWS - heat up is quicker, requires less… Read more
turns of the hot tap and temperature is consistant. I also like the phone app which connects to the unit via wifi but the display on the unit itself is great too. As a bonus, the unit looks good and is quiet. The most important thing is if it will last 10+ years, but time will tell.
We recently installed the Haier 250L Heat Pump Water Heater to replace our old electric system and have been very happy with it. The unit provides plenty of hot water for our household, runs quietly, and is simple to use. It's great knowing we're using a more energy-efficient system that should help reduce electricity costs. So far, a great upgrade and one we would recommend. Show details

This is an incentivised review.
The Haier HP330M1U1 has been an excellent hot water system for our large household. We are a family of six, so hot water usage is a major part of our monthly energy cost. Before installing this unit, we often hesitated to take hot baths because we were concerned about using too much gas and increasing our gas bill. That was the main reason we… Read more
decided to switch to a 330L heat pump hot water system. At first, I was a little worried that a heat pump system might not be able to provide enough hot water at night, especially for a larger family. However, in actual use, this has not been an issue. Even when the hot water is heavily used, the unit has an electric booster element that can help reheat the water when needed. So far, we have not experienced a situation where we completely ran out of hot water.
Currently, I use the system in ECO mode, which means it only uses the heat pump. In my experience, it can heat around 70L of water to 55°C in about 1–2 hours. I am very satisfied with this performance. When running in heat pump mode, it only uses roughly 0.5 kW of electricity per hour, which I think is very energy efficient, especially if you have solar power at home.
Overall, I am very happy with the Haier HP330M1U1. It is a great choice for larger households that use a lot of hot water but still want to control energy costs. Now I can enjoy a hot bath without constantly worrying about the gas bill. I would highly recommend this model.
First, based on our many years of good experience with Haier refrigerators, we chose Haier as the brand for our heat pump among many others. Second, the entire installation team worked in perfect harmony and had a high work efficiency, completing the installation within three hours. Third, the hot water supply effect is excellent, allowing all five of us to freely use hot water even in winter. Show details

water and pressure. We have had cold and rainy weather since the unit was installed, and there's been no issue with the heating and water temperature. It's too early to say, as I just had it installed, but I am happy with the warranty period it comes with and the affordable price.
Follow-up · I would say the installation process was smooth. However, I wish the installer had set up my app and unit connection because I am having difficulty connecting my system to the mobile app. I just don't have time to call Tech Support. Great hot water system, very efficient, modern display and easy to set up. Uses a fraction of the power our old conventional water heater used. Controls at the touch of a digital button so can change timers, temperature settings in seconds. Highly recommend! Show details
Follow-up · Display is very user friendly, easy to change settings and schedules. Temperature settings can even be changed via an app. Installation was very straight forward, completed in half a day. We recently converted from a 150L gas powered hot water system to a Haier 250L heat pump model and have been thoroughly impressed. Firstly, the boost mode was great for heating up the first full tank, and it was surprisingly fast. The team got the system in by around 1pm with plenty of time to fully heat the 250L of water whilst the sun was… Read more
still shining - costing me nothing thanks to our solar system.
Next, the Haier app is great for controlling the temperature of my stored hot water. We got a bigger system than the previous gas unit and think it was the best idea. With the nights getting colder, storing water a little hotter has ensured we never dip below 55 degrees (and the app lets me know the current water temp)!
The unit is ridiculously quiet too. It is installed behind my bedroom wall and you never even know its running.
When it is running it is so energy efficient when running on heat pump mode I will never have to worry about this system costing me a cent thanks to our battery storage system. The impact on my gas usage is also massive. We still have gas cooking, and I can see hot water heating was a big contributor to my consumption now expecting my quarterly gas bill to drop by 2/3, with most of the cost being daily charges.
Very happy we made the move to the Haier 250L heat pump and also very happy with our installer!
We had the Haier Heat Pump installed a week ago to replace our 26‑year‑old Aquamax gas unit, and the difference has been impressive. From day one, the system has delivered consistent, reliable hot water for our family of four — no fluctuations, no waiting, and the temperature is beautifully hot every time. The installation went smoothly, and the… Read more
unit itself has a clean, modern look that fits perfectly along the side of the house without taking up too much space. It’s surprisingly quiet as well; even when it’s running, we barely notice it.
What has stood out most is how quickly it heats and recovers. Even with back‑to‑back showers and daily household use, we haven’t come close to running out of hot water. Knowing it’s far more energy‑efficient than our old gas system is an added bonus — we’re looking forward to seeing the long‑term savings.
So far, we’re extremely happy with the upgrade. The Haier Heat Pump has exceeded our expectations in both performance and design.
Got my Haier Monoblock 250l installed a few months ago. Like others have said, it heats water very efficiently and I haven't once run out of hot water (only 2 ppl in my household). I have got the pump running in eco mode, namely between 9am and 3pm, to take advantage of solar power. The unit looks good and modern, and I am hoping its reputation… Read more
for durability proves correct.
Having said that, there are a few negatives to this product:
1. The control panel on the unit is covered by a small sheet of plexiglass, which you have to remove to access the controls. I defy anyone to remove this sheet without breaking their nails! Puzzlingly, it is not fully attached to the unit, by a hinge or some such. It is just jammed into a slot, which makes removing it excessively fiddly. I have just had to leave it half-open from now on.
2. The phone app is average at best. It lets you select modes and see what temp the water is at. But it does not have all the functions that the control panel has, far from it. For instance, you can't vary the timer, or see whether the machine is operating or not. This seems very odd in this day and age. Furthermore, the app regularly forgets the unit's ID code that allows it to connect, so that you have to re-enter it every second day. That's not exactly state of the art API coding! Lift your game, Haier.
3. Unlike the majority of other posters, I don't find this unit particularly quiet. Yes, the compressor makes about as much noise as an AC unit. However, there is a vibration noise overlaying the compressor's hum, which makes the overall result somewhat annoying. That vibration stops when I press on the air vent with my hand, which tells me it is just something vibrating inside when it shouldn't be. If it wasn't for that "extra" noise, the overall sound level would be acceptable.
So, overall, I would still recommend this product, but check other reviews and not just those that were offered incentives.

I recently replaced a gas hot water system with the Haier HP250M1-U1 250L heat pump. The primary objective was to transition to a more efficient electric system, and the unit has met all performance expectations. temperature remains highly consistent during use, and the operational noise level of the unit is minimal. Based on the faster delivery times and expected reduction in energy consumption, this system is a practical and effective replacement for an aging gas unit.
This is an amazing HWS. It's quiet, it works on wifi, it's energy efficient & it's great to have consistent hot water! It's quite neat looking too. It's probably a bit bigger than what we needed but will work when we have overnight visitors. Show details

Having a hot shower in one’s own home is an underrated joy. The unit looks good, it’s a bit taller than my last electric unit because this one’s a heat pump unit but that’s not a problem. First use was on a cold winter morning and it delivered hot water perfectly. It has worked reliably since. Show details
