What a great store!
wow. The employees were so helpful in-store, I had a query about a product and a blonde girl on the register was so knowledgeable and helped me with all my questions. I can't get out much but this experience made my week. Thank you.
Very good supermarket
I like Ritchie's IGA better than the other two major supermarkets. It sells products that I can't get elsewhere, the customer service is great. Helping the community and other charities makes me feel happy my dollar is going further.
Inaccurate pricing bordering on deceit
Continually have to get staff to explain why register price is higher than ticket price. same for ticket price higher than catalogue price. Shelves are always understocked and when I ask when stocks will be renewed, I am given different info from different staff. Lied to in fact. I will not shop here again. Coles for me
Over price at counter than the shelf price
I bought a whole meal bread (Bread oven ) at around 4.30pm on 5th June 2017 in Narre warren Ritchies. The price was locked down to $1.99 and is written on the shelf too. But i was made to pay $3.99. I didn't collect the bill also as i was in hurry. This came to my notice after leaving the shop. My total bill came to $6.98 including over priced bread and a super glue($2.99) ,
This is the third time this happening. One time i noticed at the billing time itself and i informed them .Then they adjusted the amount at the counter. This is like a day light robbery. People when buying in a hurry will not notice it.
Poor management Cessnock Manager
I once loved shopping at Ritchies Cessnock. Have stopped shopping there now due to new management. I find her rude and aggressive. Quality of certain areas of shop have definitely declined in last 6 months. The shop is not what it used to be. Staff seem over worked. Have shopped at this store for quite some time and by far the WORST manager they have had. Maybe they could send her on a people skills course???
Fantastic supermarket with a huge range and keen prices
Ritchies Supa IGA Bentleigh East (Melbourne suburb) is a bit out of my way but oh how worthwhile it is to visit.
The first thing that you notice is how clean the supermarket is and the good presentation of fruit, vegetables and meat plus a quite reasonable delicatessan.
Ritchies seems to have a wider branded range than Woolworths (my second favourite chain) or Coles and of course it's way ahead of Aldi and Costco, as the latter two lack a decent range.
The number of specials has increased at Ritchies - probably due to competition.
It also has a Community Benefits scheme that is well supported. This supermarket is well used and I suspect liked very much by its local community. Long may it exist.
I read the other reviewer's comments about the Community Benefits Card, but I am not aware of it and also am not aware of too many events at my Ritchies. The sales staff were friendly every time I have gone here, but the stock items were expensive and I cannot afford to shop here regularly. Their weekly ads specials are really good value!
I dont shop here regularly because I have found them to have just the basics, but not a lot of choice for most items. I also have found that off the shelf prices are a bit expensive.
I am not able to do all my...
Our local store has an excellent product range which items that are very competitive to our local Woolies or Coles. They have some really good catalogue specials and the fruit and veg and meat are all good quality. The staff can be a bit hit and miss but its usually quick.
Good product range and regular catalogue specials. The store is easy to get in and out of quickly. They also have a good range of home brand products and the community benefits brand. You can also link a card to a local charity and get cash rewards for them.
The fruit and veg is a lot more expensive than the larger supermarkets.
I've found that Ritches have fewer home brands and a greater product range than the big two. Less of each item but more variety. My mother's favoured Arnott's Breton biscuits cannot be found at Coles or Woolies any more but Ritchies have them. They often have great unadvertised 'manager's specials' so it pays to look around on each visit. At my local Ritchies, Seniors are offered a 5% discount on Tuesdays. They give you a 4 cents per litre discount voucher at three local garages if you spend as little as $25. I also have a Community Benefi...t card so I'm able to direct a percentage of what I spend to the recipient of my choice, currently the RSPCA. Above all, I like to steer some of my business away from Coles and Woolies as I think they have too much power between the two of them. Friendly staff, good specials, and a surprisingly large range considering the store is smaller than the local Coles and Woolies. Everyday shelf prices can be a bit higher than Coles/Woolies.
I feel Ritchies supermarkets are quite good as you do not tend to overspend as there is not as many extra items at the end of each isle inticing you to over spend. Also their meat department, you should all give it a try, very good quality meat at a reasonable price, much better than Coles or Safeway. I believe that Ritchies is a worthwhile look at for a lot of people if you really care about servie and saving a little each week.
Sometimes you can get a product that you are after that the major two other supermarkets are no longer stocking.
Things can be a bit cramped as the stores are normally smaller.
