Romeo's Foodland Supermarket

Have to commend the exceptional neatness of the store. Staff do need reminding though to be more aware of the customer when nearing them, instead of the shopper having to halt to let them walk by. Seems common courtesy does not prevail nowadays. No I'm not ancient lol.
Yet again, pricing and checkout inconsistency. Magill and Rostrevor wrongly charged $2.25 at Magill and $3.00 at Rostrevor. And do they seem to care, not really. I hate being a whinging old guy but seriously lift your game. Love supporting SA Foodland but I always ask for the docket and a good 40% of the time there will be an error. Girls at the… Read more
checkout, as they are the main gender, rush things through that quick and sometimes missed the mark downs that are clearly visible. So extra time having having to wait for a credit. Disappointing really but will still keep going and keep checking when purchasing
Delivery never came, I have had no contact from the delivery person (apparently Door Dash) regarding where my order is and when it will be delivered. I had an initial email from the store informing me that the order was on its way. We waited and waited all day. I have no order, no groceries and it has been charged on my credit card. Apparently the… Read more
groceries sat there still when everybody went home for the day. What I find disturbing is that before end of day didn't anyone notice that the groceries hadn't been picked up by Door Dash and do something about it? I had to ring support and sort the situation out 2 days later (as I had no groceries until then because of public holiday) when Romeos should have done it because THAT is customer service, they showed a very uncaring attitude. First and last time I will shop here.
Prosciutto is good. However labels have been stubbornly wrong for years. What is PROSCUITTO? Found 3 spellings over the years. Showed a manager... told Head Office. Who listened? No one. Almost tragic. Show details
Saw staff management feedback on rocket 2.7 poor.,now to the paying! customers . 1.chicken cooked, left, and reducing pricings issues, finally chicken thown out the same night, no more wrapping with bare hands, awaiting their use of cloves all stores, management ageed to gloves use, chicken, exposed groceries and prossed ham etc; etc; 2..How many… Read more
times you forever overcharged on reduced products is a onging issue, they refuse to give the full refund, you get home overcharged on your docket, their till is overflowing with your money every time but you are out of pocket, massive daily issue even today sat 29,3.25 [Content Removed] mgr .... Daw Park. stood there while girl overcharged on a shown discount item, he pointed to the reduced amount, the girl then fixed it, but lucky I had not gone home, more issue [Name Removed] the son refused to speak to me over the phone when the [Content Removed] mgr...... rang him over gift cards. The day before Friday 27th was overcharged, the week before bo5h myfrienr and I were over charged on their confusion of shampoos and conditioners discounts. 3..Not enough checks and balances but aggression when you complain or they laugh. 4..Staff service attention to scanning goods correctly is massively out of control, if you get over charged and have to drive back, the money overcharges always!! Goes In their tills, we should get Full Refunds NO partial, we are not paying to train staff. I got zero satisfaction in 5 days, trying to contact family or management, try the email system, but make sure you are a business not a customer as you will get [Name Removed] email address . or human whatever..They did rectify the chicken poisoning and full marks to the girls at DAW pk that cook their chickens, and not overcook the lot then flog of, they did not follow health regulations, cook and out in the bin the same day. As a 25 year customer, service once!! great, has declined hugely. My comments relate only to where I shop extensively. Mitcham and Daw Park. I cannot comment on these issues on feedback if also systemic at other romeo stores.unsure also why their prices rose 100% in line with Woolworths..CPI is 100% not as quoted 11% Dean.
Would give it more stars if I could – Romeo Fairview Park great store great service none of this self service crap I drive pass Woolies that is 2 minutes from my home to now shop here The meat and cheese and bakery are fantastic
Overpriced and absolutely horrible staff – After visiting several Romeo's stores, I can confirm that their staff are, without fail, the worst I've ever experienced. They are rude, incompetent, lazy, and inconsiderate. At every store. I don't know what kind of hiring policy the Romeo's Group has, but it's obviously to scrape the bottom of the barrel. With prices considerably higher than… Read more
other supermarkets, one would expect a better quality of service but one would be horribly disappointed.
I'll drive or walk five times as far to go to any other supermarket than a Romeo's purely on principle now.
Grossly Intimidated customer – Very arragant and rude, underachievers, lot of lying trouble making staff. Some followed me and loitered outside my residential property. Service and Product average to below. Management were retail thugs.
Bad customer service – I spent nearly average about $500 a month on groceries at this store . But the staff at the fruit & vegetable area are very rude and no customer service and refused to credit back to me 2 pre packed garlic when I was informed by my family that they already bought and I was still in the store just after I paid for my groceries and they would not… Read more
refund the garlic that I accidentally bought. How discusting is this behaviour with no customer service and that we live in a country with freedom and this business try to get over the law with no customers service.
Unhappy Customer
Awesome customer service – Visiting from Tasmania, Rhianna works at your seaton store. Very friendly and professional, I always walk out with a smile. You should be congratulated having Rhianna as a team member Show details
Dont buy veggies from the Romeos compost Heap – Today the zucchini were rotten and the carrots were limp. Stirling Romeos have, what is commonly refered to , as a compost heap of a veggie and fruit section. This appears to be because of a VERY bad business arrangement that they are locked into.. so don't buy vegetables or fruit from them. They may look good but as soon as you get home you will… Read more
find they are all half dead. Why they cannot fix this is beyond me. I resolved years ago, not to buy fresh fruit and veggies from them and occasionally i weaken and buy something. I always regret it. Always. This is particularly annoying as our Woolworths burnt down so there is only Foodland Romeos in Stirling and i dont want to send money to Germany.
customer discontent – Disappointed with response when I questioned why some items still not available and would they be available soon? That was in August and queried again in September. Assured that they would have the items in store before Christmas. But no, by November items still not there. Asked again - given all smiles and assured that the problem was that the… Read more
items were not able to be ordered. This was a Foodland/Romeos shop. Finally lost faith in them and in November I visited another Foodland (but not a Foodland/Romeo supermarket) - the said items were available at the other Foodland shop AND the service was far better. Clearly the customer comes last at the Foodland/Romeo chain. I did, just to check, revisit the Foodland/Romeo supermarket twice in December for one reason only - to see if they did have the items I had asked about as per above and still they were not anywhere in the Foodland/Romeo supermarket. Feel really happy that I have now chosen to shop instead at the other Foodland shop that is not part of the Romeo group. Customers matter - but that appears to not be the view at Romeo/Foodland outlets.
What a change at Rugies ( Brighton Foodland!) – I ASKED for my seniors discount at the checkout...my wife had a look at the receipt and it wasn't there. Went to the check out and she said she didn't remember...it was about 10 minutes ago! Was directed to the query counter who treated me like a thief/idiot but after conferring with a 'manager' 'worked out' my $4-80 discount with plenty of… Read more
attitude. The accountants have taken control here now romeos have bought it!!! [I should have added that the I was also given strict instructions regarding showing my seniors card in future (not at all relevant in this case as I wasn't asked to at the checkout) when asking for the discount...accountants...get lost! I'm 80!!!]

Know better, choose better.
Animal Killers – This business deserves an award for the worst supermarket in Adelaide. Every year they refuse to get their roof access points fixed and every year they get pigeons coming in and trapping themselves, starving and thirsty. Instead of doing the humane thing and trapping, releasing then fixing their roof they call in pest controllers to shoot the birds. People need to call the management and voice their opinions here.
Premature closure at Castlecrag – After years of customer support - Romeo's / IGA pulling up stumps and quitting well ahead of the planned closure of the Quadrangle village center. Worse still they are rapidly depleting shelves well ahead of the closure date and only re-stocking basic perishables. Will avoid either of these outlets in future. Show details
Chicken & Corn Soup! – Im here to rate the Chicken & Corn Soup. It should really read Onion & Tumeric soup to be more representative! It had micro particles of chicken in it. Unless I was really unlucky. Not worth $8 Show details
Worth customer service – I bought an item from store Martin place. Product hanged in wrong shelf. I approach the teller. He was a male. His face worth customer service angry before I approached him. I asked one question do we get the same price as it place in wrong section. Just a question. He start attacking. We not gone give it to you cheaper. Tell me to go away . Was… Read more
very polite to him. He was so offensive. Called for his manager . And he tell me hi best of his team. If you call this the best . What do you expect for worth. Guys never go to that shop . You will be disappointed. Worth customer service ever had. Never again. Even manager worth then him
Castlecrag NSW charge you double and then play hardball when caught out! – Following review earlier - same issue at Castlecrag NSW. . Bought some BIC marker pens in big display module at half price August 30 at5.30pm. On impulse I bought 2 items. Walked out door to car and noticed I'd been charged full price. About $7 difference - IGA’s way of course. I almost never look at shopper dockets. Asked youngster at… Read more
checkout I’d used, what the story was, who called in someone more senior.
That lady walked down with me to the stand, saw all the 20 items had yellow SALE tags on them and she removed them all.
Back at checkout she said she was happy to sell to me at the price I had seen displayed.
I asked HOW does that keep IGA/Romeo honest - I usually never even look at or even request price tags. They need to incur a PENALTY when they mess up. Or they will do it week in, week out. And probably do, as there is zero downside they way the treat it when caught out – which I suspect is against consumer law.
Right now, if buyers do NOT notice, IGA gets twice as much on impulse buys, and if they DO notice and complain (only a small % do, I am sure) they pay the price they saw. NUTS. WIN-WIN each way for Romeo/IGA.
I stood my ground and lady called the Manager, and Indian chap who said I had 2 options – (1) do not buy them or (2) keep them at price on store sale labels
I asked what PENALTY was there in that for IGA’s slackness, if it leaves a large stand full of Bic Pens on display all items showing a sale price but charging goodness knows how many clients double that price, and they detect it they still get charged. He said this is how things were done at the Castlecrag store.
He repeated his mantra 3 times, and I was insistent IGA should suffer a real penalty of some kind for sloppy sale offers control, and for wasting by now 15 minutes of my time, over something that was outside my control.
If IGA has such ”Human Error” each week in the store, they make a fortune, as heaps of buyers do not even ask for. much less look at shopper dockets, as this is an affluent area. I almost never do.
I pointed out there used to be a large sign on pillar of each checkout outlining the ‘’Scanning Code Of Conduct’’ covering such things, that stated items up to $10 scanned wrongly such as this, were given free to customers. Those signs have all now been removed.
In rather bad grace this Manager relented, as if this was a massive one time favour to me, and processed the credit.
I have been a regular client of this IGA/Romeos for many years. They have an alleged “Rewards Card” I must have had scanned 100s of times over the years. Woolworths have the same thing. That one works like a charm, and IGA’s does not – I do not believe I have once received a credit or reward on my IGA card for reaching any spend threshold.
My wife’s keyring IGA Reward card had some of the numbers of the bar code wear off, and it did not scan. Asked IGA rewards twice for a replacement card and never saw a thing. I doubt any person has ever seen a reward saving - the scheme sounds like a scheme in name only to me.
Anyway Romeo/IGA needs to have the same policy that other supermarkets do – if they have a 50% discount sale price ticket of $5 and charge the customers $10, they should void the sale entirely, if this is raised and verified in store.
Pure common sense, and will stop ”Human Error” (sic) occuring for sure, if there is a real penalty when caught out. Right now there is none.
Foodland Port Adelaide – Well done to the senior staff member at checkout 7 who pacified an obnoxious customer last week. She said her training in NZ included conflict resolution. Impressive to watch. Need more people like her. Show details

Rude staff – Only shopped a few times at the Athelstone store, rude miserable staff. Not one person acknowledged me. I waited a long time at the deli on one of my visits only to walk away as no one was there to serve. I was overcharged on an item last week and when I queried it. Got told the tickets wrong. I asked if they honour the pricing code she looked at… Read more
me like I was an idiot. Today I walked up to a reg the girl did say I won't be long. Then walked away to assist another customer. People if your on a reg stay on and call for assistance.. I walked out.
Terrible products and service! – The fruit, vegetables and especially meat, are terrible. The meat is poor quality and tough and the only half decent piece of meat I found was very expensive and I think was a fluke. I have been to many Romeo foodlands and they have the same rude people working there.
Romeos South Australia; don't honour Code of Practice – Beware of shopping at Romeos SA. They fail to comply with the Code of Practice for supermarket scanning. Be especially careful when buying something that is "on special". Just shopped and bought chocolate bars that were marked down. Scanned at full price. Luckily I noticed this. When I called for help, assistant manually entered special price for… Read more
both items. I questioned this, as I understood I was entitled to one item free because of their mistake. She said this is not their "policy". I have to walk outside the shop, notice the mistake then come back inside and they will only then honour the Code of Practice. I must admit I was staggered at this suggestion! Just another case of gouging customers. As always, buyers beware! Perhaps an opportunity to contact Consumer Affairs.
This is an Example of What a Supermarket Should Be Like – I live in a reasonably large regional town on the Fleurieu Peninsula with a population of approximately 14,000 people. However I have occasion to visit Adelaide on a regular basis to visit family and to shop for items I cannot find and/or which are unreasonably priced in my hometown. This shopping is not confined to food items. However, I… Read more
regularly visit the Foodland supermarket at Torrens Park in the Mitcham Shopping Centre and come home with unusual and gourmet items not available where I live. The quality of the delicatessen items at Foodland Mitcham is unsurpassable and the range unbelievable. Seafood, soft cheeses, ham and other smallgoods plus filo pastry consumables and ready-cooked meals are all fresh and mouth-watering. I have also discovered desserts not available in the supermarkets of my hometown as well as different cordials, toiletries and bread. Needless to say, the fruit and veg is top quality. Love this store.
