Decent cut but has issues – I've only just put 40 hours on my LK (21hp, 42") looking after my house yard of about an acre. While it does a great job at cutting grass a foot or shorter (even on a fairly decent slope), and has heaps of grunt, I've had several issues. It initially ran rough until a service, the PTO eventually refused to disengage, the deck belt slips off… Read more

periodically, and bolts around the deck readily come loose and fall off. Also I've had to install inner tubes in the tyres because they seem to puncture easily (it's not like I'm clearing scrub but I'm willing to concede that could be down to me hitting an unseen stick or debris). I baby this thing and keep it under cover but I'm always waiting for the next thing to go wrong. My dad has a John Deere and he has trouble with it too (he's spent a fortune maintaining it); maybe it's the nature of ride-ons.

Edit: after another issue I phoned the head office and mentioned how all the service mobs in regional QLD seem to have a waiting time of about 5 weeks. He informed me that this had been the case for more than 3 years. My next mower will not be a Rover.

Best on paper and in reality as well – During my research, I was thinking about rover vs hustler raptor. Rover is cheaper with a stamped deck, the raptor is expensive with a fabricated steel deck. Rover has a 24hp Kawasaki engine which is more powerful than the raptor Kawasaki (21.5hp). I have 1acre and pretty flat land. Plus I saved at least 1000$ than buying Raptor. It starts every… Read more

time easily. Heaps of power. I have tried it on dry and wet grass which was up to my knees and it went through it like a knife through butter. The cut quality is really nice. Makes the golf course like lines in the yard. I have had no issues with it yet. It's under full warranty Aussie made for Aussie conditions. I just wash it with a pressure washer at the end. It has surpassed my expectations of power, quality cut, and realibility. Very happy with this purchase. Thanks

Great machine - glad I bit the bullet! – Blew up the old John Deere and was looking for something not too pricey to handle our 5 acre somewhat rough in places grass block - definitely not lawn. Didn't like the negative reviews on lower end Husqvarnas and John Deeres are way too basic at the price point I was looking for (<$5k). Settled on a Cub Cadet, but then found it was difficult to… Read more

get in NSW at anything below retail, and cost to freight from Vic was too high. Dealer reviewed my reasoning and suggested I look at the Rover - supposedly identical but red and with a Kawasaki motor. Couldn't be happier! Apparently the Rover is effectively a rebadged Cub Cadet (both out of MTD), with CC being predominantly US branding, Rover for Aus. The 24/42 is a relatively new release, so little in the way of reviews on line - but also no negatives! So I bit the bullet - and happy I did. 24hp Kawasaki has heaps of power and the extra features of the Rover including the electric blades engage and the anti slip backwards on slopes are excellent. Looking forward to lots of years of happy mowing.
