its not noisy - what are you people on about ???? – So I bought this kettle because i liked the shape. I didnt expect it to be any different to the other kettles on offer for the same price. its not excessively noisy - its a normal kettle. and it works like one. Thats what I found good about this product - it does exactly what you expect it to do - boil water quickly . the auto cuttoff works perfectly and its easy to put back on it's stand. Show 3 replies
Is My Kettle Different? – Over a year ago I visited sites such as this to see about the Russell Hobbs Whisper kettle and was put off buying it because of the reviews. Over Christmas I saw one in action, so bought one. It ACTUALLY is MUCH quieter than any kettle I have had. Not silent, but quiet. So my question. My kettle looks like the one in the picture, has the same… Read more
name so I conclude I'm bought that kettle. It appears to me most of the other reviewers here bought a different one, unless they were expecting a active device to be actually SILENT!!! A whisper is NOT silent.
Overall I am VERY pleased with this kettle.
Lovely well made kettle – The kettle is named whisper quiet, that's what made me buy the kettle, the kettle is well made and has an 2400 watt element, so it boils pretty quickly. Looks good and has an 2 year warranty against some of the other 1 year warranties, we've only had the kettle a week but are so far impressed, seems a step up from our last two kettles. It's as noisy as our last two kettles and I bought it as it was supposed to be quiet.

Works – If it was not a gift i would feel cheated by the name whisper quiet. But it was and i had no recept anywhay. It is quieter than my previous one. It works. It is just the name and the price and the smell of the boild water that get it down.
Worst kettle I've ever had – Got first one with flybuy points and after two weeks had to get it replaced as it became so noisy it was impossible to live with. Replacement kettle was quiet for about one month and it is also now very noisy though not as bad as the first one. Do NOT buy this kettle.
What a con job this kettle is – We were given one of these for Christmas, and while it is fast to boil the water, it's ridiculously loud doing it - far from the claimed "Whisper Quiet" I followed the included instructions to the letter, which involved filling, boiling and rinsing 3 times. The first two boils were quiet, the 3rd and subsequent ones are beyond the loudness of … Read more
a normal kettle.
If you are considering this, save your money and buy a cheap one from Kmart or BigW - it's simply not worth it.

Best kettle – This is the best kettle I have ever had the pleasure of owning. We have two kettles and one of them is a Kmart kettle used for when we go camping and in comparison this kettle is so much better. It has such a beautiful design that fits in very well with our kitchen and if I could alter it in any way I wouldn't change a thing. This kettle boils… Read more
my water to the perfect temperature without affecting the taste of the water in any way. Not too hot to leave a burn and warm enough to dissolve anything. Unlike most kettles this one is almost completely silent and I don't have to be afraid to use it when others in my household are asleep. The Montana 3087 boils my water so quickly I have barely any time to get a mug out.
It is so easy to determine the level of water in the kettle with the simple markings that show how much water is in the kettle. This kettle holds so much water and once the water is emptied out the kettle is so lightweight and easy to carry and refill with water without loosing it excellent quality. and for all this its only 60 dollars. I am outraged that this product was discontinued and i hope to see it back into action soon.

plastic lid handle crumbled into pieces – was very loud for about 2 months and then quietened down. water level is not easy to see, boils quick enough, the plastic handle on the lid broke down like a crumbley biscuit.made a new one out of australian hardwood, actually works better than the original because I could not buy a replacement and now see the kettle is no longer made. There sending rockets to mars and sending back pictures. why cant you produce a handled that does not fall apart ?
Sooooo quiet and quick – Russell Hobbs Montana Whisper Quiet Kettle is the quietest kettle I have ever owned and I cannot understand what other reviewers are on about. Are we all talking about the same kettle? Quiet, quick, easy to use, looks good. Easy to read water level window, lid can get a little warm but it is not a problem. Show details
Should have called it "The Banshee"! – This kettle does not whisper, it screams at you. We bought one to replace our previous Breville Quiet Boil, which had taken to roaring at us. A huge mistake. Yes, we have descaled, used vinegar and even used only filtered water...it makes little difference. The top is hard to get on and off. I would avoid unless you are particularly hard of hearing, or live adjacent to a very busy International Airport.
Noisiest kettle EVER! – Whilst it appears to do its job and that is to heat the water - it is the noisiest kettle I have ever owned!! Definitely could have a case for misrepresentation as this kettle is far from Whisper Quiet! I'm sure it wakes the household up at 5am every morning when the first cup of coffee is made. Avoid
Steam train must make less noise – This has to be the noisiest kettle we have ever owned. I can even hear it when I am four rooms away. Some early mornings I hate to put in on in case I wake the household. Might as well have an old fashioned whistling kettle. Not recommended at all.
Rubbish in bright packaging – Handle pulled off lid, sounds like a fan on high speed (certainly no whisper) and lid very tight. An average kettle with reasonable styling and nothing special about it. It is an unbalanced unit when you pick it up and can tip if not careful. Thumbs down overall but a good lesson in what not to buy. This is going straight to the rubbish bin.

Noisy – Not whisper quiet at all. One of the loudest kettles I have ever owned. We have put up with the noise and have found that it gets noisier if it gets dirty inside. I clean it with white vinegar every couple of weeks and that helps with the noise level.
Sounds like a jet taking off – This kettle is not whisper quiet. How long after buying it can you return it when it is false advertising? I also found that this kettle had a strong plastic taste. I renewed the water with every boil. I contact acted Russell Hobbs and the told me to clean it. Which I did. Taste has finally gone but it seems to be getting louder and louder
Will never buy russell hobbs again – Purchased the kettle from Good guys a few months ago, not whisper quiet at all. Leaks and leaves puddles on my bench top and is now rusting.
Absolute Shocker !! – I bought this kettle a month ago and would have to say it is the worst kettle I have ever used. For the first ten days of use lived up to is name being very quiet but left a strong plastic taste in my coffee. Over the next few days it developed a very loud high pitch scream!. I descaled the kettle as per instruction manual which made the loud… Read more
scream go away but made the plastic taste even worse. The folks at Harvey Norman in Bairnsdale where I bought the kettle kindly let me swap it for a different kettle which was great.
Lid broken no spare parts – Won't buy Russell Hobs again the plastic parts in the lid broke no spare parts available. Made in China quality MADE IN CHINA CUSTOMER SERVICE SHAME SHAME SHAME if we don't use excessive caps how can we tell Russell Hobbs we are yelling at them,,,,,,,,,,,
nasty water taste – have cleaned regularly, every time we boil the kettle it has to have clean water in it. cannot re-boil leftover water. taste has incredibly strong 'plastic' which overrides coffee and tea. now i know why i packed it away. newer one split and brought it out again - BIG MISTAKE.
False advertising – This kettle is far from whisper it's so loud I can hear it from the other side of the house. Not fun when I'm sleeping and hubby makes a cuppa. Terrible product, I purposely bought this because I was looking for a quiet kettle and this is louder than normal
WHISPER!!! – Worst kettle I've owned/used. Tainted flavour, incredibly noisy, and hard to open. Not recommended, certainly doesn't live up to its name.
Quiet- definitely not – The first 3 boils were quiet. I have cleaned the filter every week just like the instructions say and it still sounds like a jumbo jet taking off. Definitely louder than other kettles- how can they call it whisper quiet?

Not Whisper Quiet – In the beginning it lived up to its title. Wonderful. After about two weeks it was noisier than others, so we had it replaced. It started off okay again but now it is back to being really noisy and drowns out even the television. The filter has gone greenish/yellow, which I don't like to look of at all, so I may remove it, the solder around the… Read more
spout has either rusted or has white lime deposits, and to descale, it needs to be done about thrice each time. I will look differently next time and just get one of the old tried and true models. Very disappointing
Water Tastes like Metal – I have just purchased this Kettle and every time I make a coffee it taste like metal. I have descaled using lemon juice as per customer service but only lasted 2 days before it returned again. Do not buy I will be returning it and requesting a full refund, can't tell you how many cups of coffee and tea i have wasted.
Toxic tasting water – I bought a Russell Hobbs Whisper kettle whch at the start ticked all the boxes, including great as a night light. But after a month the water tasted toxic , so I returned it to the plase of purchase for a refund. I then wrote an email to russell Hobbs advising of the defect and how the water tasted toxic. To their credit they called me back and… Read more
advised that it is the coating on the filter that caused this, and I should have put it in the dish washer to eliminate the problem. I advised them that this wouldn't add up as firswtly I washed it with the first 2 full water boils in it including removing the filter after the boils to make sure it was rinsed . Then over a period of a month surely any plastic coating would have disappeared and what if you don't own a dishwasher. The only reply I got after advising them this was that the plastic was food grade and no recall was going to be done, not even an alert.
Whisper???? Not!!!! – Loved how quiet this kettle was for the first couple of weeks after purchase, now I'm struggling to hear myself think every time I switch it on. The lid is way too tight, I nearly give myself whiplash each time I remove it, so fill through the spout, which can be a slow process....really, really disappointed with this product, expected it to be… Read more
"whisper" quiet for the life of the kettle. Should be called the Russell Hobbs Yell...Will be returning to a good plastic kettle.l I liked the look of it Too noisy
Quiet as a rocket ship – This is the loudest kettle I have ever owned. It does boil water which is a positive. The lid is very hard to take off being too tight. It does look like a fairly nice kettle. I don't know why I have to write fifty words when twenty was plenty. Looks good, boils water. Rocket ship level loudness, lid very hard to remove (too tight).
Plastic tasting tea – I got this kettle in exchange for a Russell Hobbs that started leaking just before the warranty period expired. This kettle lives up to its name but there is a very real chance that it will give someone cancer if they leave water in it overnight. The taste of plastic is overpowering and I'm having to empty it after every use to get rid of the… Read more
contaminated water.
Like I said when I reviewed the other Russell Hobbs kettle - I think I'll go back to boiling water on the gas stove because manufacturers just chase the almighty dollar these days and don't care who they hurt.
Plastic tea from a stainless steel kettle that will almost certainly start leaking and become dangerous. What's not to like.
Leaking after two years - Not Good – After two years this kettle, which cost us $130 dollars, started to leak out of the bottom. We were told it was excellent quality and would last for year (I guess two years is technically the min). I've had inexpensive plastic kettles last much longer. While this was a quiet kettle, which we were after, it's falling apart quickly. The side… Read more
panels for viewing water level are deteriorating and now we are having water leak out of the bottom and can't figure out how/why.
. Quiet and Fast Expensive and can't believe it only lasted for two years.
Fairly good kettle – Whisper quiet is probably a slight exaggeration, though it still is a lot quieter than my last one. Boils very quickly, and I find the lid easy to come off. Getting water into the kettle was one of my priorities and I chose this one because a lot of other kettles had small openings. The only problem I find is the white plastic thing (could be a… Read more
sensor) at the bottom of the kettle dislodged within a month, but the kettle is still usable. Classy looking, lid easy to remove, large opening White plastic ring in the bottom of the kettle dislodged within a short time.
Quiet - NOT! – Replaced a decent Sunbeam for this Russell Hobbs model thinking it would be quiet - it isn't and will now go back to the Sunbeam or cheap $12 kettles from coles or woolworths. Disappointing result from a reputable brand. No difference in noise level. Would not purchase this kettle again. the look very noisy
Best kettle I've had for a long time – I dont know what the other reviewers are talking about. I have had this kettle for about 5 years, you can hear it boil but it is not very loud, and quieter than my last one. I bought a new one today to replace the old one after 5 years use the new one is even quieter than the old one. It boils very quickly, quicker than many other kettles. It's … Read more · 2
easy to fill through the spout and easy to take the lid off. The handle feels good to hold, and I am fussy about this. Boils water well. Looks good too.
I don't work for Russel Hobbs, I just like drinking tea. Looks good, very quiet, quick to boil, good handle to hold ( I have a weak wrist), reliable (lasted longer than my previous 2 kettles) Nothing really.
Built for looks, not function – We got one of these in the office (4 staff) to replace an aging plastic affair. We've only had it a few days. Ours is (still) quiet enough, although kettle noise was never exactly a big problem for us. The problem with this one is that it is difficult to fill - the lid is stiff (and who wants to remove a lid every time they fill a kettle… Read more
anyway). Filling through the spout is ridiculously slow with the filter attached. Discarding the filter speeds the process slightly, but it is still a small and awkwardly-shaped target to hit with the flow of water. As a result, expect to get the exterior of the kettle wet every time you fill it.
Next problem is the sight glass. The 'maximum' level of 1.7L is about half way up the glass, and the lowest visible mark is 1.0L. This leaves a working range of 0.7L for people to get a coffee without refilling - that's 2 mugs, assuming it was filled exactly to its maximum level. In practice, it seems that any time someone wants a coffee, the kettle appears empty and needs to be filled first.
It seems that the market for kitchen appliances these days is driven by price and appearance, with practical function not even making it onto the list. This kettle is no exception. Looks nice on the counter. Pain in the neck to use every day.
Russell Hobbs cleared for landing – We have had this kettle for 3 months. It was quiet for a week before the noise started up. There does not seem to be any scaling just very noisy. In short it is just cheap Chinese made, If you are after a quiet kettle avoid this one as it does not stay quiet. it can boil water
Russell Hobbs Whisper – Whomever named this kettle must be totally deaf. Worst kettle I have ever bought. Never buy a Russell Hobbs again. Read the fine print in the Enclosed booklet. If they descale clean under warranty to stop the noise they can BILL YOU. The kettle is about one month old. Rubbish Looks good NOISY, Cheaply made, warranty not worth the paper (Quiet should mean Quiet)
even descaling doesn't work so don't waste your $$$
